The Sony Vgn-s2xp Is An Excellent Notebook But The
The Sony VGN-S2XP is an excellent notebook but the fan is a awful.
(1) Does a noisy fan mean a possibly shorter life of the fan if it works `too hard`?
(2) Does anyone run Linux on a VGN-S2XP? I cannot get the sound working.

Yes, it is noisy. It is not only the moving air, the fan itself makes some sound and its nearly permanently on. During work I got used to it. When I want it quiet and the notebook is in the same room I definitely switch it off.
