A Great Golf Course

The Celtic Manor Golf Course is a fantastic course for anyone who appreciates golf in the UK.

I visited the course last month with my wife, and was very impressed with the course as well as the staff in the main reception, the Customer Service was Fantastic, making sure I had everything I neeed.

My wife who is pretty hard to impress, was astounding at the beautiful course and the aforementioned team of staff, who really did go the extra mile. We have visited over 8 other courses around the UK, none are quite as exceptional as this one.

If you want to Enjoy a round of Golf and also wanted to be treated like a King and Queen, I highly recommend the Celtic Manor.

Very Negative Experience.

CELTIC MANOR....... Played the 2010 course which was superb. Arrived at reception to check in after a long day of driving and golf [can't check in until after 4-0pm] to a 20min wait at reception, with no apology. Room ok but only one bathrobe and cobwebs from one end of the drapes to the other. Arrived in 'Merlins' to eat and ordered just a burger for me and pizza for my husband, both ridiculously overpriced. Burger edible but pizza dreadful, been hanging around in some warming cabinet for hours. To be fair the maitre d dealt with this well and offered an alternative.

Day two saw us [after an appallingly poor quality hot breakfast]checking out, we were met with the same frosty reception staff and not asked our opinion of our experience. We completed a comments card and left it with the receptionist. Needless to say this comment card was never seen again! We arrived at 'The Lodge' to prepare to play the Roman Road course. On arrival a young man stood shivering in his winter golf mittens watching us struggle to unload our golf equipment, I suggested he would stay a little warmer if he actually did something.

We had coffee, and a combination of very poor weather/service convinced us to head for home and not bother with the golf.

Prior to leaving we once again completed a comments card and left it with the young lady behind the bar who had served us coffee on both days. She was helpful, concerned, and actually cared about our negative experience. She assured us our comment card would reach the appropriate department.

We were finally contacted by 'the management' and invited to return for another weekend, at our expense! Although they would upgrade the room for free..........

These people completely missed the point. Their customer care is very poor and pretty much everydody we met had a'couldn't care less attitude. Food overpriced and very poor service/quality.

Having played/stayed at Gleneagles & Turnberry [for a similar price] we would suggest you save your money for a quality golf venue and not waste your money at Celtic Manor.

One Of The Best Courses You Will Play. Not The Bes

One of the best courses you will play. Not the best for wow factor but will test the best golfers. High handicappers, wait till your in the mid teens before you tackle this course.

The layout and condition of the course is 'the best'. Don't stay in the main hotel its not worth the money, stay in the Holiday Inn just 2 minutes from the course entrance.

Playing the course, make sure you take your lob wedge. There are no chip and runs on this course. The 'rough' is right up to the edge of the green. All the greens are multi levelled. You need to get the ball high in the air and drop it onto the green. The greens when we played 9/6/07 were lightening fast. (this may be because the Welsh Open had been played the weekend before and the grass was cut well down).

Overall at £80 for a round and £30 for a buggy (stay on the paths) its expensive but for that one off special, well worth it.

Both Courses At Celic Manor Golf Resort Are Fabulo

Both courses at Celic Manor Golf Resort are fabulous but many ignore Roman Road thinking it is the poor relation! Not so as it will host the 2005 Wales Open. Long and challenging but fair if you remember to take a brain with you! Excellent greens of all shapes, sizes and slopes.
