Worms World Party is a great game. You can play it like single player (but multiplayer is more interesting). For a small game graphics are super. All arsenal of weapons and fighting worms make this game best small multiplayer ever!

“If you haven't heard of worms or even if you have you...”

★★★★★

written by Matty2 on 14/04/2007

If you haven't heard of worms or even if you have you will be addicted to it from the start, with the cartoonish graphics and the fantastic gameplay.

The graphics:

Worms has developed it's cartoonish theme from the game and Worms: Armageddon. With big-eyes and how the worms look different if they're traveling up or down a slope or holding a weapon, the graphics are set for anyone, especially cartoon lovers. They do lack small detail though, like where shotgun bullets have hit worms and different coloured water. Being 2D it's quite easy to look at the battlefield (landscape) so you can easily move, aim fire, and watch the fun.

The audio:

The background music is at such a volume you can barely notice it when playing, so you can concentrate on your turn and you can hear it when your watching your enemy. Apart from the title music (sounds like a half Scottish half German badly composed theme tune) Everything is fine. The sound effects are of great detail and your worm team's anthem is good and some choices are funny, like at the end of the French national anthem you get like the entire band has stopped to see a car crash outside. However, the worm's voices are acceptable, but they can be a bit squeaky.

The gameplay:

The game runs on a turn to turn strategy and it easy to control. It is unexplainable about how this game is so simple and why the gameplay's brilliant.

The multiplayer:

The turn to turn feature let's you have 5 friends around to play with one or more computers. You can have hotseat mode or play over a LAN (Local Area Network). You can even play online, and to today there are still people there. Wormnet is the heart of the worms experience.

Unfortunately this game isn't updated like it's brother, worm's Armageddon. You can only select 3 screen resolutions while the updated Worms Armageddon let's you select out of lot's of different resolutions.

This game is good if you want everything from the start, but the Worms World Party Wormnet will definitely die before the Worm's Armageddon Wormnet will. You can't play people from different games yet, but you will soon.

I would say get Worms Armageddon instead of Worms World Party as they are the same except for the unloackables, missions, training levels, and most importantly, the online community. And also updates.

“General/Summary: ”

★★★★☆

written by thespicycabbage on 05/06/2006

General/Summary:
Worms World Party is a great game. It's not a game for those who prefer dull puzzles and just simple strategy.

Gameplay:
The gameplay is relatively simple and easy to learn.
~Controls - The controls are very simple. I learned to use the controls in the first 5 minutes. Unlike similar games like Gun Bound, you do not struggle to learn the keys. In a few minutes, you will be moving your character around like a master Worm.
~Realism - To put it simply, there is not much realism in this game. This is what makes it fun. Your character can simply swing a bat at an enemy only to have him bounce around a couple times and just say "Owsies".
~Combat - There is a multitude of weapons that you can choose from. From a simple Poke, to a gruesome Holy Grenade and a Kamikaze attack, it is all there. It is relatively easy to learn how to use each weapon, but for beginners, they will make mistakes like blowing up a mine next to them, which adds to the fun.
~Navigation - The levels consist of a simple plot of land. You use mainly the arrow keys which makes the game simple.
~Criticism - After some time, the fun goes away.It is repetitive.
Graphics: The graphics arent great but it is still fun to watch little worms get blown away.
Sound: The sound is very simple but amusing. IE: When using a Kamikaze attack, the character sais "bye-bye"!

“Worms World Party PC Game is a delightful addition to...”

★★★★☆

written by tastymorsel on 03/12/2004

Worms World Party PC Game is a delightful addition to the worms collection, from Team 17.

Worms seem to be the "Polo" equivalent of the gaming world, they always appear to reinvent themselves, introducing slight variations and Worms World Party is no exception.

If you haven't played worms before, the game play is very simple. You control a team of four worm characters. You pick the name of the team and the individual worm names; personally I prefer naming them after people I don't like.

Once you have done this, you can then choose you're preferred game option, single player, multiplayer or play online. The aim of the game depends on the options you choose, if you select single player you will be required to achieve certain objectives, but the real fun comes when you play a multiplayer or online game, as the aim is simple, destroy the opponents team to win using the various weapons at your disposal.

Notable improvements in Worms World Party are the increased single player missions with over 40 to choose from, you'll be playing for hours.

There are now 60 weapons to drool over, including the Concrete Donkey - I won't ruin the surprise but deploying it against your opponent should lead to immediate satisfaction!

By far the best element of Worms World Party is pitching your skill, wits and ultimately luck against like minded addicts online. If you buy this game for its online capabilities I would strongly recommend a broadband connection for best performance.

Dedicated fans of Worms will hate me for saying this but this game is perfectly suitable for younger kids (it has a 3+ rating). Admittedly it is about doing away with your opponent but the cartoon characterisations and general fun feel make it easy to distinguish between reality.

System Requirements

Operating System: Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000 OR XP
CPU Speed: 100 or above
Hard Drive Space: 300 MB
Memory: 32MB
Graphics: 4MB Direct x 7 Compatible graphics card.
CD-ROM SPEED - 2X or Higher.
Audio: Direct X compatible sound card.

If you're really not sure of your computer specifications, don't worry, the joy of Worms World Party is that it will probably run on most home PC's. If in doubt ask or email the people you are purchasing it from.
