What a wonderful experience, this was top of my list of "things to do before I snuff it" and it was worth every penny. The St Andrews Old Course was sensational and the caddies made a great day even better, if you love your golf then get there NOW! I recommend the Old Course Golf Hotel in the Scores as well because the service and care was superb. Thanks folks.

St Andrews IS the home of golf. I am not Scottish or a patriot, but it is. There are lots of different courses on offer. With different price ranges and different skill levels.
Balgove=The begginers course. It's a 9 hole but you get to play it twice for £3. It's free if you are under 16 and live in St Andrews.
Strathtyrum=The next level up , 18 hole long fairways . challenging bunkers etc £15 approx.
Eden course= never played this one, even harder 18 hole. Slightly more expensive.
The new course=A course situated right amongst the old course. a big course 18 hole. A reasonable price tag.
And THE OLD COURSE=Not for the beginners. has the notorious Hell's bunker on it which even people like Collin Montgomerie find tricky. 18 holes, with the famous stream and bridge on it. I think it costs £115 for a round of over 18 St Andrews residents-more for non residents and you can't play on it at all if youre under 18. I hope this has helped. Come and play the courses , they are beautiful!

“Our second trip to the Holy Land of St Andrews,...”

Our second trip to the Holy Land of St Andrews, Scotland proved to be fun and challenging. The Old Golf Course was still open while being prepped for the 2005 Open Championship. There were empty bleachers and all, but that didn't matter. The course was in fine shape. The greens were true, the bunkers deep.

The weather is mostly good, this summer I was working at the open, along side the marshalls and we had some 23-25 celcius days and it was lovely. Now we are having -5 at night but not much rain. I hope you enjoyed the courses and do come again.
