Good arcade gaming. Fair price. "Something to unlock" A good list of car, track and event choices. After gone through, this game turns out to be ONLY for times when you are REALLY bored in my experience. Good game for good price. Too bad it does not last too long therefore I do not recommend Driven to Destruction for the PS2.

Brilliant racing culture in my experience.

Wish it was more like english banger racing. Then you could do more realistic engineering to your car. And have a truck and trailer to get your car to the races and being able to buy better trucks (eventually getting a motorhome) by progressing through the game. Apart from this I find Driven To Destruction a fantastic PS2 Game.

The single bad point listed is actually quite an annoying one in an otherwise superb game. In this respect it behaves very similarly to Flatout - touch another car or (especially) trackside scenery and it seems to act like glue, not letting go of your car until you've been spun round to face the wrong way. It's a shame, as otherwise the game makes a real effort at realism. PS2 memory capability is the only reason the graphics can't be labelled "excellent" but they are every bit as good as you'd want.
Like one of the other reviewers, I previously depended on Destruction Derby for full contact fun and, strangely, it was only the first of that series that felt anything close to realistic. The follow-ups were frankly childish, graphically more sophisticated as they were.
Flatout felt better - but it was all about speed; usually, ridiculous speed.
D2D gives you scrap cars that look and behave more like what you'd expect, and the ability to watch replays of yourself and all other cars, from several angles, is marvellous fun. You can actually spend a good hour so just picking out the best bits and taking screen shots.

I am a huge oval motorsport fan, and have been all my life, especially bangers & British stock cars. Whenever a game like this based on oval contact motorsport is released I buy it, and this is, I think far better than any other I have, which is a huge compliment to the game as I must have all the other similar games previously released. This includes all the Destruction Derby games. Driven to Destruction is a better game to Destruction Derby games purely because of the realism of the career mode, track & car detail and also the race modes.

Sometimes the cars can feel a bit slow as they are based on real American bangers, so if you are looking for fast contact racing you might prefer Flatout 2.

It really is a fantastic game and I would recommend it to any motorsport fan who likes a bit of bump and spin in their racing with occasional big hit and destruction.

Having said that, I have played it with a lot of my friends who are into sports games & beat 'em ups who rarely go on racing games if at all, and they all thought it was brilliant so I recommend you you buy it anyway.

I was looking for a good replacement of Destruction Derby because I played that game for ages. Well this is it. It has all the options you need and the graphics are quite good.
Multiplayer option is very nice and career mode is a bit easy but still gives you plenty of good times.
Movies are a nice but a little short.
