All miniDV cameras have much the same resolution and picture quality so lets move on.
The sound is probably the best you can get. The zoom stereo mic with wind cut is brilliant.
It has 0lux (in B/W) and built in light so you can shoot in the dark at short range in colour and at long range in black and white.
The optical zoom is long enough and the digital zoom is best ignored as it does not extend the optical range, its one or the other.
For the money it's brilliant, and made in Japan too. A quality bit of kit.

I moved to this Panasonic NV-DS29B from a Sharp that I had been quite attached to. I was certainly impressed with the quality of footage which is after all the main thing. I found streaming it to Mac easy and efficient the camera responds well over firewire connection. The Black & White viewfinder was a little disappointing and I think the photoshot function isn't worth having as it takes no media card. I also found during panning that if the light changes it does take a moment to adjust, all in all tho' it is a good performer and more than adequate for home use.
