Their music gets better throughout all of their albums and this one is the best! Their songs are powerful and have deep, emotional lyrics! LOVED IT!!

"Atomic Bomb" opens with a roaring, thrilling ride to the sounds of "Vertigo." To listen to this, you cannot fail to believe that you are in for a treat. And the album continues, with thought-provoking, yet fun sounds that surely cannot disappoint.
Apparently named for Bono's father (who is the "Atomic Bomb" of the album title), this album contains some beautiful lyrics, and these are most evident in "City Of Blinding Light."
"Blinding Light" is an emotional song, yet does not push feelings of sadness - it cannot be rated highly enough. Having heard this track, it is alone worth the cost of the album.
Although I find that "Love And Peace Or Else" and "Crumbs From Your Table" may be the weaker members of the collection, they still stand tall and deserve their place on "Atomic Bomb".
"Atomic Bomb" deserves to be listed as one of U2's best albums. With the response to the 2005 Vertigo tour (whose live recordings feature on an accompanying DVD album), the exceptional quality of the material here is evident.

U2 could sing the yellow pages and make it sound good. This album is great to listen to, it has a good variety of rock tempo in a style that only U2 can produce.
From the hard hitting first track "Vertigo" to the melodic emotional song Bono wrote for his late father "Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own" to the very catchy "City of Blinding Lights".
Not their best album, but still a "must have" for anyone who likes, loves, or adores U2. I hope U2 continue to make great albums like "How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb" for many more years to come.

Only Bono could start a a song with one, two, three, fourteen in Mexican. Whilst not their best album (the best being Achtung Baby or Joshua Tree), this still has more than enough to keep you listening. It is a solid offering from a band I think can do no wrong (I still enjoy Zooropa). If this was going to be your first foray into U2, then it offers enough. But to get started, I would recommend either the aforementioned Achtung Baby or Joshua Tree albums.

I would recommend buying How To Dismantle an Atomic Bomb if you are a big fan of U2 but it isn't essential. It is a good album none the less. U2 are finally getting back to their best after Pop etc.

U2, How To Dismantle an Atomic Bomb - This album I think is excellent. After hearing "Vertigo" on the iPod Commmercials (in the U.S), I realized that U2 have really sold themselves out. Leaving me with an assumption that the new album was going to be really rough and unclever, unlike their older releases. But I bought the album used for the hell of it and I was wrong. The album was actually very good, exposing a more "poppy" side of U2. Some notable songs are "Miracle Drug," "The City of Blinding Lights," and "Crumbs From Your Table."

Black Ghost 7's Response to Tom H's Review

Definitely agree with this review. I love this album to pieces. It's has some great powerful songs and there isn't one song I don't really like except perhaps the title track, but then I can't deny the simple fact of it still having some genius melody tendencies. Perhaps its just the 'orchestration' of the song, however, the album is more than worth it!
