We have 3 cats and 1 dog with needs to board and we’re always nervous about using kennels as they all pine whilst away from home. From asking numerous questions prior to booking to collection of our pets, we cannot recommend Tal y Cafn highly enough. They honestly care about the animals and not just the money, it’s gives you peace of mind that your pets are in great hands.

After coming to these kennels for seven years , another excellent stay was had today. Well done to the staff for helping me to enjoy myself See you soon. Lulu (Weimaraner)

Poppy my 17yr old cat has been in the chattery for three weeks, each time I leave her I worry as she is elderly. I know she will be well looked after, she has come home happy and healthy. The staff appreciate that she needs a bit of TLC sometime and they are happy to treat her as an individual cat with her special likes. Many thanks once again see you soon.

The first kennels that our Jack Russell, Rosy has ever been happy to go into. Yes, she's always glad to see us when we get back but dropping her off is a pleasure she trots happily alongside any member of staff round to the smaller dogs kennel block with her tail wagging, and barely a backwards glance at 'Mum'. Our Pug, Suky loves it too but then she's so laid back she no barometer of anything. If it's good enough for Rosy it's good enough for me. Happy friendly staff, clean spacious kennels, the type of food your pet likes to eat and lots of room to run and get fresh air a couple of times a day, what more could your smaller, furrier members of family really need, except for you. But at least they're happy and well looked after until you can return for them. Highly, highly recommended.

My dog was taken from my car and put into the kennel while I was in the office. When I realised what had happened I asked if I could go and say goodbye to her in the kennel as I was going on a three week holiday. The man was very rude and said I would disrupt the whole kennel (they were all barking anyway). I couldn't believe how I was being spoken to. He was so awful to me that I agreed not to go in but was in tears as I left. I don't know his name but he obviously has no idea about the bond between owner and dog.

Staff very pleasant !!! but PLEASE VIEW before leaving your small dog. Kennels scary, noisy, prison like living conditions, no light, it's cold , no homely atmosphere . Exercise area similar to Alcatraz yard . Please LOOK before you leave your loved pets .

My Coco, a nutter of a dog!!! Cocker spaniel and boarder collie cross has stayed on two separate occasions and has just been booked in for a third. I highly recommend the kennels, the staff are always helpful and polite, Coco gets very excited on the approach, she is always happy to see the staff and goes off with them happily to her kennel. When we visited for the first time, we were offered a guided tour and a talk with the owners, they took their time to get to know Coco, they wanted to know about her medical history, preferences, any problems, difficulties and special treatment. I am more than happy leaving my dog there, she was a little 'fragrant' when I collected her after a fortnight, but this was our fault as we had to rely on their bedding. I would always, from now on, supply my own bedding/ basket.

My dog has been visiting these kennels for a number of years. She loves going there and gets really excited as we drive up the driveway. The staff are caring and professional. My dog can be quite nervous with strangers, but she always goes happily with the staff. The staff remember her and her likes and preferences, even when we haven't needed to use the kennels for a while. My dog is always in good condition when I pick her up. I am very happy indeed with the service provided, which is also very reasonable.

My Flatcoat Finlay who is now 9 years old, has been staying here since he was a puppy. Sometimes for 5 week periods, he always gets very excited when we arrive and seems to enjoy his stays. Sadly he has now got cancer and has just started chemotherpy. I was worried as I have to go away for 2 weeks and did not think I could leave him in Kennels. When I called to tell them they could not have been more helpful, Aled has arranged for the girl who looks after Finlay to drive him to Leahurst on the Wirral for his next chemo treatment and also to take him to the vets the next week for his blood tests. I know they will care for him very well and keep me informed as to how he is. What more could I ask for! Thank you Lois and Aled.

I' sent my boxer 3 times to theses kennels and can't fault it. Staff are superb and nothing was too much trouble for them. However, What makes ithis kennels special is that you can clearly see that the staff care and are fond of animals. They told me to ring if I was worried at any point (which I did) and I felt like they really knew my dog. Nothing was ever too much trouble either. I have to mention 2 members of staff in particular - Katie and Lucy- my beloved boxer struck up a real bond with them and I am incredibly thank full for all the care they gave him! Each time I honestly felt he was sad to be leaving! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these kennels .

I totally agree that these kennels are fantastic. Our dog has stayed here on numerous occasions and has been very happy each time - no digging of heels before going in and when he sees the friendly staff his tail is wagging and he doesn't look back at us! Because of that we find it easier to leave him and we know that he'll be very well cared for. We have no hesitation in recommending these kennels to others.

I have been a customer for over two years now and cannot recommend this kennels enough !! As my work involves a lot of travelling I often phone up very last minute and they always fit me in. My springer bounds up the path to the kennels which is a sure sign to me that he loves going there. The main reason I chose this kennels was due to the amount of exercise the dogs get, which is a lot. And anyone who has a springer knows how much exercise they need a day . I find the team very knowledgable and friendly and they knew all about my boys little habits which shows how much time they spend with him. I would and already do recommend this kennel to all my friends.

We were let down by our usual kennel at short notice and a someone recommended this kennel. To say that we were upset on the return of our precious dogs is an understatement. They were dirty, smelly, matted and both had bleeding paws. We visited the kennel prior to taking them there and it looked clean and well run, we will not be returning ever.

I left my elderly cat at the kennels for 6 weeks and I was anxious how she wold cope with such a long stay. She had been there a few years ago but she is now 14years old. The staff were lovely and I left feeling she was going to be well cared for, she is a fussy feeder and they assured me they would provide her with something to suit her. On our return she was bright, happy and very obviously had been well looked after. I will certainly use them again and can't thank them enough for caring for her.

I felt the need to write this review after leaving my dog patch over the christmas period, i was nervous about leaving him as it was his first time but after being shown around the kennels and seeing where patch would be staying i felt a lot more happier. The kennels were spacious and he also had a heat lamp which i know he misses :-)and the play areas were large for him to run around with the other dogs. The staff made me feel at ease and it was nice know who would be looking after him. The kennels were spotlessly clean and all the dogs looked happy. I will not hesitate in leaving him in the future . Thankyou tal y cafn kennels .

Left my dogs in the 'CARE' of this kennels and when I went to pick them up found that one of my boys was bleeding heavily from a wound to his paw, 'only just happened' I was told, the blood all around his kennel said differently, when I got him to the vets they found that one of the toes was basically hanging off, and one of this canines was split in two, he had to have the toe amputated, what has galled me most is that the kennels months later have not even enquired how he is.....I wouldn't use these people if they were the last kennel on earth, care about animals I think not!

Our puppy stayed at Tal-y-Cafn kennels for a total of 10 days within a 2 week period in August 2010. I didn't want to leave her at first but when I took her back for her second visit within this period, she ran up to the kennels, tail wagging. The staff were excellent with her and nothing was too much trouble. I turned up unexpectedly and was given a 'tour' of the kennels and I was more than satisfied. Highly recommended.

My two young springer spaniels stayed here for just over two weeks - I am a true neurotic 'pooch mum'!
They left us happy & returned to us happy, content, having been exercised & well looked after. I called three times while I was away & each time my call was answered by helpful, friendly staff. I would have no hesitation in recommending this boarding kennel.

Dear Customer
so sorry you were upset , but would like to let other readers know the dog was handed over from you car by another member of the family not taken unsupervised as implied. We like all our customers to view the kennels as you had done on a viewing day. We have a responsibility to keep the dogs as calm as possible and from experience most customers prefer to say goodbye at the office. However we do appreciate how upsetting this can be for some customers and would like to apologies on behalf of my staff and myself.
