My Bosch 6805 is 13 years old. Would I have liked for it to have lasted a few more years? Sure... who wouldn't? Do I think there's another brand out there that has a lower purchase price/year ratio? Nope. I know someone who buys a new $300-$400 dishwasher every 2-3 years (more than $1500 over the last 13 years). Can't remember what I paid for my old one, but I can buy its new counterpart for $949. Have we ever spent any money having it serviced? Nope. Have we had any trouble with it? Yep. We had that really common problem with the circuit board, used the ouija board (google) to figure out what it was (the burnt spot) and fixed it ourselves in 30 minutes. That was three years ago. What I really liked: it's quiet and it did a really good job up until a couple of weeks ago. What I didn't like: the little plastic tab on the handle. It fell off about five years ago and I could never get it to stay on after that.

The Bosch SHI6805 is pretty poorly built. What a shame, I feel burned after spending big dough for a top of the line dishwasher. To have a major component such as the control module burn out in 5 years of light use, is pathetic. Shame on Bosch. Bosch service is no help at all for do-it your-self type people. All of the testing information is top secret, so they can sell it to Bosch authorized service people. So in turn Bosch authorized service people have to charge more. Thanks again Bosch. Check out appliancepartspros.com. I don't have any affiliation with them. They are the only ones that have some info on the Bosch repair manuals.

We own a Bosch SHU series that broke down within weeks, has very inconsistent performance and takes a very long time to finish a regular cycle. Electronic control system is very poorly designed, predicting a 90 minute cycle only to leap 20 minutes later to 110 minutes, down to 70 and then somewhere in between. We are still waiting for the thing to say I just really dont have any idea how long the cycle will last!
does a poor job of cleaning and drying and leaves a tangible odor of soap that is unrinsed. Adding rinse agent exacerbates the problem. All in all its an ovely priced, poor performing appliance backed by puffery in the sales force and lousy service in the technical team. DOn't buy the P.O.S.

Purchased my Bosch dishwasher in Oct. 1999. 2 years later the electronic control panel failed and was replaced. Now it is doing the same thing. The control panel once said 6 minutes remain and watched it change to 12 min. remain. It will not complete a cycle and there is water in the bottom. I would NOT reccommend a Bosch 6805 to anyone and have serious doubts about all Bosch appliances.
