Review Of The Nightmare Before Christmas

Bad Points

I think sometimes it will be quite scary for children

General Comments

The first time I watched this film I was scared, I was a child and I was scared of monsters.

Nowadays i think it is one of the best films I`ve ever seen!

Good story and nice songs.

I like Tim Burton and all of his movies, I think is one of the best directors in the world!

Every time I watch this movie, I really enjoy it.

The quality of mercy is not strained

In Halloweentown, Everyone Loves Halloween. But Ja

In Halloweentown, everyone loves Halloween. But Jack Skellington, who practically personifies Halloween, is very depressed because he is surrounded by nothing but Halloween. When he sleepwalks out of Halloweentown and wanders into Christmastown, he is so happy that he breaks out into a song proclaiming his newfound liking for what he has found. When he returns to Halloweentown, he tries to replicate Christmas despite the warnings of Sally, the girl-doll that secretly but obviously loves him. This movie is a "Grinch in reverse," as Tim Burton describes it. Watch it to find out why.

Mr. Burton And Mr. Selick Have Created A Cult Mast

Mr. Burton and Mr. Selick have created a cult masterpiece with this quirky holiday tale of horror, romance and wonder. The Nightmare Before Christmas focuses on the flexible and debonair Jack Skellington, who happens to be the pumpkin king of Halloweentown, where the residents spend every day preparing for next halloween. Jack is loved by everyone but he feels that he is missing something in his life so one day he wonders into the forest and finds the door to someplace new; the colourful Christmastown. With only the disapproval of Sally the ragdoll (who secretly has a crush on Jack) Jack makes a plan to take over Christmas for a night with disasterous results. Meanwhile the evil Lock Shock and Barrel are sent to bring Santa back to Halloweentown so Jack can inform him of his plan however the mischevious little minions take matters into their own hands by kidnapping Santa and giving him to the evil Oogie Boogie who attempts to cook/kill Santa (leading to a fantastic musical sequence) in his evil underground "fun house".For those who have heard about Nightmare and its cult popularity it is vital that you watch the film as there is a good chance it will be everything you want it to be. The film is essentially a musical with a wonderful score and songs by the amazingly talented Danny Elfman with "This is Halloween" and "What's This?" being the two stand-out musical sequences. Selick's attention to detail is almost flawless and the dark wonder of this film will whisk you away to a place perhaps you've seen in your dreams.

Regarding the Special Features a documentary, deleted scenes and two of Burton's early films "Frankenweenie" and "Vincent" are included.
