If you are a fan of the series 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' then you will be a big fan of the spin off 'Angel'. That being said it is not imperative to have a background in Buffy in order to enjoy this series.

Angel is a 248 year old (I think) vampire who many years ago was cursed by gypsies who restored his soul. He now lives his life trying to redeem himself for all the evil deeds he perpetrated in his past by protecting those in need of help.

In the first episode Angel comes across Cordelia… Read Full Review

This series builds on the success of the first, and gets even better, establishing itself as a standalone show. After the cliffhanger at the end of the first series the audience are keen to see Darla (Julie Benz). However, this particular plot is not rushed into and it is a while before Angel and co are even aware of her presence. In fact, this scenario is not concluded in this series and is a factor throughout series three.

The storyline is much stronger in this series than the previous as… Read Full Review

I have never watched one episode of the Angel series. Is it worth me watching the first series first, or shall I just watch any in any order?
Thanks a lot. Great review!

Hey Micky,

If you were truly going to watch the Buffy/Angel series in the order in which they were meant to be watched then I would recommend watching the first three seasons of Buffy. Angel series one and Buffy series four run alongside one another. As do Buffy five/Angel two, Buffy six/Angel three and Buffy seven/Angel four. The character of Angel appears in the first three series of Buffy as a regular character.

When the two were originally shown on TV there was always an episode of Buffy followed by an episode of Angel so the two really did run side by side.

Like I said, it isn't absolutely imperative that you watch the episodes specifically in that order, although if you have the time and money to do so then I would recommend it.

Hope that helps

Is it worth me buying all the Buffy DVD's and watching them in order before I watch Angel Series 1, so I can enjoy Angel Series 2?

Hey Micky. I would recommend starting from season one as they all pretty much follow on from each other. If you don't have a background of watching Buffy then it might start a little slow for your liking. It picks up pretty well though and you should have no problem getting into it. If you enjoy the first season then I would definitely recommend the ones that follow as season two is more enjoyable and season's three and four are highly regarded as being the best seasons of Angel.

Hope you enjoy the series as much as I do :)
