As a dog lover myself, I can appreciate how loving a Rottweiler can be to its 'family', however, you only have to encounter one of these on the sharp end to be put off.
They have, in my experience, a major design flaw. While they are able to chase a fleeing cyclist quite competently for a short distance, as I found out while on holiday in Mississippi recently, their bite orientation is directionally limited while running. What if you weren't on a cycle and in a closed space..i bet you would be able to fight off a doberman much more than you would be able to fight of a rottweiler.
