i bought my madass end of august '08. and i bloody love it. every day i would spend at least 2 and half hours on it after work. its a bit sluggish but who wants their 16 yr old boy killing himself? i ahev got mine doin 40 odd which is quicker than my mates as they are restricted to 32. but to be honest i cant fault the bike at all. i took it off road quite a few times and it coped well. in december 08 the gearbox broke. the bike had done 1987 km. about 1200 miles. and the parts arent expensive but they take forever to come in. its taken nearly two months but maybe it is coz they are uncommon parts :). but wat ever the case if u want a good sturdy reliable start first time bike get the madass 50. there is no ferings to scratch so if u drop it just pick it up and laugh. and above all have fun on it. i think if u pussy foot the bike its pants. but if u give it some and let the engine howl it will please you. and chuck it round corners. it will hold. but above all have fun in it. because its great fun to ride. even with the trouble i have had with my gearbox, i would have another. deffo.

I got my Sachs MadAss 50 four months ago and so far so good, proved quite reliable which at the end of the day is the important thing, especially when your are miles from home. Nothing worse than getting to a place and finding you are stuck there! Nice handling from the bigger wheels and nice strong frame, the rear suspension can be a little harsh at times.
It is a 2006 machine pre-owned.
I have a few niggles though. Now I know these days they have to be restricted to 30 MPH for learners, but they do this via the CDI and rev. limiter, which in my opinion is not required due to the lack of power. The handbook says it produces 2.6 BHP. I can remember my first bike a Honda SS50 produced 6 BHP from a similar design of engine. Still you buy a moped, you get a moped.
The lights are a pain to change the bulbs, and the driving illumination is very poor. I would like to see the road at night! Why must you have to dismantle part of the carburettor to change the filter?
The replacement speedometer is a joke! At 30 MPH it indicated 21, the trip for a 14-mile journey shows 8.5 miles.
I have changed the front sprocket from the 11 tooth to 15, that has helped the top speed but the hill climbing ability has diminished.
Any one else find first too low?

I have over come the poor power of the Sacha MadAss 50. by putting a 70cc barrel and piston, and a c90 cub head and carb. With a sprocket upgrade, I now dont hold up traffic and am very pleased with the bike. Looking at getting a seat pad from the 125 as its better padded.

but its cool and stylish so if some one local is able to service it then the bikes got my vote.

Love the colour and shape of the Sachs MadAss 50cc. The bigger tyres are also a great plus compared to scooters. Very Reasonably priced and cant wait for the 125.

I've had mine for 13 months and I strongly recommend this motorcycle. Everybody ask me where I bought it and say they like it very much. I also have a car so I use it when I am not allow to use my car in the city or want to go fast to downtown. I may not use it for a long trip. only for the city. I don't like Yamaha, Honda or Kawasaki looking for scooters, that is why I bought a MadAss.

We brought the Sachs MadAss mainly because of the looks but certainly for a scoot it has not let us down and gets heaps of looks and comments. I have the 50cc and have had to custom and replace the exhaust as it rubed on when and ruined the mudguard. Great looking scooter like the big wheels brakes handling excellent.

The Sachs MadAss is the best way to become a motorcyclist, because you have top become experienced to gear changing from the beginning which will be advantageous for the future.

I have had more compliments on the MadAss, than my real motorcycle.

Great little tool. I have the Silver Madass, as I believe that if you get any little scuffs and scratches, they are less noticeable and easier to touch up than if you had the Black Madass. Overall good value for money and good for a learner, or someone like me on a full car licence who is scared to have a mean machine.

Well, I've had my Sach Madass for about 18 months, but now I'm changing up to 125cc.
Ive been very satisfied since I found an easy way to tune up the top speed (I simply changed to an open airfilter and the front cog (from 11 to 14) and made it do 40 mph, and got a much cooler sound).
It handles well on the road thanks to the big Motard tires and it accelerates quite nice compared with other 4 strokes like the Derbi Senda.
The overall design is incredible, wherever you go you'll always find someone admiring it, the big wheels give a solid impression and the combination with the red brakes just looks amazing.
The Madass is equipped with back projection headlights which aren't just cool, they light up pretty good. The rear LED brakelights are good.
The only complaint I can come up with is the performance (which no longer is a problem).

I think that when I bought the bike I made a good choice, but I just don't know how to stop the engine from cutting out when it is wet or how to make it go faster without spending a load of money.

The Sachs MadAss is a good design very badly executed. The engine has just completely seized when 2 months out of warranty. I have had it to workshops at least 6 times.

Overall, I like the SACHS MadAss 50. Not the fastest thing out there, but what it lacks in speed, it makes up for in looks. Sachs/Tomberlin did a really good job on quality. Top notch fit and finish far exceeds most other scooters including Honda and Yamaha. Mine is the 4 speed manual transmission. First gear is short, then its a smooth transition through to 4th gear. Frame is rock solid, and the suspension is adjustable, and fits the bike well. Feels good on the road. The seating position takes a little getting used to as it is kind of a mix between rocket and the old cafe racers. If your looking for comfort, this isn't it. But if you don't mind a little discomfort for the looks and stance of the bike, it's fantastic. Disk brakes rear and front make stopping a breeze. They did a really well job of getting the brakes right for the bike, and are sufficient even if you upgrade the motor. The bike conforms to the minimalist biker ideal. Less is more. If it doesn't fit in your pockets, you don't need it. No bulky storage compartments, just nice clean lines. The bike sips gas, so a tank will last a long time, and it has reserve if you forget to fill it up.Tomberlin gives riders a 1 year warranty, but you probably wont need it. Very reliable proven engine.

I got a cracking deal on my SACHS MadAss 50. I've only had her for a couple of months and I've not had the slightest bit of regret with the purchase, it's incredibly comfortable with the push bike riding position. I would choose this over any 2 stroke because of the sound, the fuel and oil consumption and no 2 stroke looks like a MadAss! I admit that I was expecting a better performance with wild looks. With the MadAss you can't be going too fast because the public won't appreciate the looks of the thing, besides it's nothing an 85cc bore kit won't handle!!!

I was wondering if you could tell me where you got your 125 engine upgrade?
