We have stayed at St. Ives Bay holiday park every year for the last 30+ years, often twice a year. We took the whole family (our kids, and when they grew up they still came and brought their kids). Since retiring a few years ago, my wife and I have stayed here every September, for a quiet time, once the kids are back at school. Last year, it cost us around £750 for 2 weeks in September, in one of their top caravans. Sadly, St. Ives Bay holiday park has been taken over by Away Resorts, and the prices are practically double what we paid last year, £1404, for the same accommodation in September! (They have changed the names of the caravans, but that doesn’t fool me). I’ll find somewhere else to stay!

The pool and access to the beach were great. Shame that the accommodation lets it all down. Chalet A6, three bed. Inside we could smell damp and mould. No central heating. One wall-mounted fire not working. First night we slept in cold rooms on damp beds. Duvet covers smelt of tobacco. After complaining we were given blankets, replacement duvet covers, two blow heaters and the wall fire was replaced. We were offered another chalet but it was just the same. We stayed where we were. Both chalets had cold concrete floors, no underlay for the carpets. The kitchen needed to be cleaned; doors and floor were sticky and the cutlery was very dirty with food on them. Ants in the living room and kitchen. We did no cooking, we ate out. No hooks anywhere for coats and towels. No toaster and no hairdryer. No Porch light. And no central heating. All the things we have in a caravan, provided for us, were not in our chalet. We booked a brick built chalet too, to get a better deal. How wrong it was! Our chalet had one view; an eight foot hedge about six feet away. The car park was too far away. Compared with a caravan, there is more room in a chalet, but that is all. I would not recommend this chalet on this park. Stick to caravans.

We have stayed at the St ives bay Holiday Park 3 times and will definetely be going back again. It is a well run park, with direct access to a beach. (Although this beach is very beautiful it can be rather windy.) The service at the onsite diner is very good, the food decent and we found all the staff to be helpful. We had a caravan with a beautiful sea view. Altogether and very nice site

I first went to the site many years ago and as I now have a family and we were desperate for a beach close by we thought we would go to St Ives Bay. We checked in at 3.00pm on the Saturday as our caravan had been cleaned already. The receptionists were very pleasant and sorted everything out very quickly. The caravan (Horizon) was a bit older but perfectly fine, it was clean and tidy and had a fantastic view of the sand dunes, lighthouse and sea. The site is very clean and tidy with litter pickers going around every so often, they have a security van driving around in the evening. We needed a high chair and it was delivered very quickly. The club is good entertainment, exactly as you would expect, the kids club is ok a bit hot and smelly (all those youngsters in one room) our girls especially liked the Nick Knowles look like. :-)

Icannot beleive this "park" has the audacity to charge for such abysmal accomaodation ,the chalet was filthy , poorly equipped ,stunk of damp , you would be more comfortable sleepig on the floor , the bed is awful !. The cooker and fridge are ancient , the trip switched if you used more than one ring at a time on the cooker , yes I did say ring , thats how old it is !!!To hid the rust , they tried to paint over it ! The bath has rust spots over it , I cleaned half of it off ! Oh if they want to a remake of Hi De Hi , I know where they should come ! Never again , we actually left half way through and I am glad we did not pay the full summer price of £500 or more !!One small heater for the entire chalet ,RUBBISH !!!!

St Ives Bay Holiday Park, Loggans Road, Hayle. TR27 5BH.
Full address given to avoid any confusion with parks with a similar name.
Third visit in June 2010. Previous visits in 2006 and 2009. Previously stayed in two bedroom A5* Chalet.
June 2010 stayed in Longships, one of the three houses on the Park. Cost £1,000 for one week with accommodation for ten people. Check-in was quick and easy and reception was as clean and well-presented as it has been before. The house was spotless and beautifully equipped with everything you'd expect to find at home - washer, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, two bathrooms. The decor is crisp and the floors wooden. The house has the sleeping accommodation downstairs so the upstairs lounge and balcony can give the view from St Ives, right round the bay to Godreavy Lighthouse.
Although the house is next to the bar, conservatory restaurant and swimming pool it was never noisy, so we got an enjoyable and restful holiday. Pubs don't open late, so no boozy revellers wake you up at 2am.
The shop is well-stocked and as you'd expect a bit on the dear side, although there's a Lidl on the roundabout at the bottom of the road, so there's a choice.
The park is clean with chalets, caravans and touring all well set out and facilities for all.
I'll go again!

I was totally horrified when I arrived at this site with my family and would not recommend it to anyone. The whole site is filthy dirty, my feet stuck to the carpet in the reception area
Accommodation smelt damp, bedding looked like it hadn't been changed from the previous guests, Mice droppings in kitchen, floor filthy, bathroom disgusting dead bugs in bath, mold on walls. I was offered alternative accommodation but refused it was just as bad and I walked out and demanded to be relocated
Since returning home I have sent a letter of complaint to head office and watch dog

I absolutely love St Ives Bay holiday park, the staff are so friendly and it is right on the beach with a nice selection of food in the Bay Bistro restaurant and watching the sun set over the sea on the Bay Bistro's decking is heavenly.
There is a nice selection of evening entertainment and the kids seem to love the children's club! I didn't mind the bar shutting at 11pm as I wanted to get up early each morning to get ready for a trip to St Ives Bay's long golden beaches.
See you next year Chris and the team!! :)

Having just walked out of John Fowlers at st ives we were delighted come to a well run and organised park at st ives bay. The staff were sympathetic to our plight and could have have took advantage, but instead gave us their last couple of caravans at a huge discount! Smashing location with great facilities, entertainment was good and we welcomed the bar and stuff closing at 11.00, we prefer our teenage kids to be in reasonable early so we don'y end up with 'seperate' holidays. Certainly go back again.

The beach is divine. We stayed in an A6 chalet at St. Ives Bay Holiday park in Cornwall, but I hated the hard thick-plastic covered beds. They are so uncomfortable. They supplied nice clean linen for the A6 chalet, which was great, but it just slid off of the plastic covering on the mattress, and it was hot and very sticky in the night. The rooms had a bad damp smell, so we had to run in and open up the whole chalet to let the air pass through. I would not say it is the cleanest of places. I am not really a clean freak, but the windows inside were full of sticky children's fingerprints all over it, at about 2 ft from the floor. That should have been cleaned off. The toilet brush was so foul and soupy, and yukky inside the holder, that I threw it away and went and bought them a new one. That helped to stop the smell somewhat in the toilet, but I think it was from whatever lived under the lino! They do not supply a hoover, so the sand and other bits get all over the dark carpet and in the beds.
Two men with big canisters sprayed insecticide outside the chalet without letting us know, and we were in the chalet with the windows open at the time and it was hard to breathe for a few minutes, but at least they spray for bugs.
The laundrette is great, with what looks like new machines, but it is expensive: £8.00 for 2 loads (£3 washing machine, and 20p for 4 minutes drying time). The machines do not wring the clothes out very well, so it takes at least £1 to dry a load, but things are still quite damp afterwards. The park staff are helpful and plentiful, and they will go to extremes to make sure your stay is a pleasant one. The park is kept safe with so many uniformed security staff patrolling all the time, but it could do with a better clean after guests leave, and a hoover would keep you from sleeping in sandy beds. The hard plastic covering is a bit much though. It was like sleeping in Tupperware.

St Ives Bay Holiday park is in a lovely location right on the beach!, toilets and showers were nice and clean. Bar hours a complete joke! If you have just arrived after a very long journey don't expect to bar to be open! Also the only site I have ever known with last orders at 11 pm!

I have visited St Ives bay Holiday Park 2 years in a row now, and I can honestly say that I found this the most pleasant park I have ever stayed at.
<br>There is more to a holiday than spending all day and night in the boozer!!!

Never expected to drink night and day (as I never do, even weekends!) but I do expect to enjoy my holiday and not be in bed the same time as when I am at home!! And as I said its the only place I have ever been that has closed at 11. Clearly others were very surprised too.

If anybody has stayed at john fowlers holiday park, st ives cornwall, could they please let me know what the standard of the woodland chalets is like. We have booked a woodland silver chalet and am not too sure what to expect, as john fowler holidays had no pictures available. Any other comments on this holiday would be much appreciated

Most camp site bars DO infact close at 11pm, Those who's bars that tend to have bars opening later tend to be tacky, naff, and full of drunks making noise all night!! I am sorry, but if you want all night drinking, then Cornwall is proberbly not the best place to visit!!

I would be very surprised if this review applies to St Ives Bay Holiday Park, Loggans Road, Upton Towans, Hayle, TR27 5BH. Having visited there three times in the last four years it would be most uncharacteristic and there are several other parks in the vicinity with similar names. A case of mistaken identity I suggest.
