After a relaxing holiday our departure was a nightmare. £5 for a coffee and absolutely no seats available. Announcements were confusing and sparse. Gate changes notified at last minute with passengers left totally confused. Security is very strict which is good but obviously time consuming. Could do better on so many fronts especially the refreshment prices.

We were shocked by the prices of refreshments in the departure lounge, a can of fees was over 23 Turkish lira, and a small bottle of water was 4.5 lira, we has been paying between 8 and 10 lira in the resort for a can and 1 for water. Burger king worked out about £10 for a meal, top tip take your own food, after the long queues you will be glad of it.

Dalaman airport has got the monopoly for those travelling to many resorts in Turkey such as Marmaris, Icmeler etc. The food prices are extortionate but the travel companies could help with the problem. Minimise the time customers spend in this hot airport by getting passengers to the airport two hours, not three to check in for their flights. Less if possible. The airlines could put preassure on the airport to play fair or look at using Bodrum instead. Ensure that the airport turns on the air conditioning system for comfort. It would be ashame to stop going to Turkey because of the airport but something needs to be done to address this problem.

On arrival at the airport to go home, we went thru the first security checks, they stopped our case & put a red sticker on it saying security cleared, no big deal we thought, untill we arrived home, we noticed the lock had been tampered with, we opened case to find an iPad a camera & 400 cigarettes stolen. Never again will we set foot in Turkey, they obviously have soemthing going at the airport, so beware!! Rip off prices too.

Had an hour to pass before boarding our flight back to Newcastle around 5 am today. My daughter was going to be charged 8 Turkish Lira (£3.80 at our exhange rate) for a Mars bar.
Also £10.95 for a fast food meal and around £6.50 for a child's meal.
She bought none of these(in fact she bought nothing).
I think that they are taking liberties with passengers not being able to take things through the check-ins

Second year running we have had to put up with the ripped off prices at this airport.
We took our own food in both times and just had to buy small bottles of water at stupid prices.
It totaly ruins a perfect holiday so we have made the decision not to return to Turkey.
There loss our gain.

Since they were charging 27 tl for big mac meals and 15 tl for kids happy meals - we opted to use the sports bar - big mistake
they advertised childrens chicken and chips meals for 10 tl so having ordered a couple with a round of four drinks i was feeling quite proud of myself having made the right move to try somewhere else and not to have been fleeced at mcdonalds.
Then i requested the bill - 120 tl !
Fortunately we had been robbed for the previous 2 weeks so were almost out of lira but they quickly accepted our last 50 euros - 92 tl without complaint.
i felt uncomftable as i walked awkwardly towards the departure gate feeling violated :(

WE had a 2am flight booked back to Manchester - There was 2 families ( 4 kids in total )
We arrived at the airport to find that we had a 2 hour delay. Thankfully we had brought 2 big bottles of water and some buns (from the hotel ).
We have been to Dalaman previously so i was aware of the prices but the reason i was so disgusted this time round was the staff, totally discraceful. Firstly I was left stood waiting for 5 mins whilst the Duty Free staff where talking amongst themselves before serving me, rude f***ers.
Upon entering the gate area we found bodies strune around the floor cos the seating was so uncomfatable, men had removed tops and shoes - the heat was unbearable. after nearly an hour of seeing my kids dripping in sweat i decided to go speak to a member of staff. I was very polite and asked for some water to be handed out as I had no TL and the shop was unable to take my Debit card. The guy pretty much laughed in my face and said, there is 220 ppl in here do you expect me to give free water out.......I then said fine, turn on the air con as you can see its unhealthy for people to be confined to an area without appropriate freash air flow. Again he laughed, and said, you didnt say please !!! My wife at this point had arrived and could see i was VERY angry so she said, Please turn the air con on, he said i will make a call.. Nothing happened. As we boarded the flight he gave me a filthy look and I called him a W***er !!!
FLY TO/FROM ELSEWHERE !!!

Hints for surviving the exorbitant cost of food and drink at Dalaman airport departures. Take food with you. Take a drink and drink it whilst waiting the inevitable half hour or so at check-in (it will be taken off you at security check just before passport control - but NOT at first security check as you enter the airport). Then if you have no delay, wait until you're on your flight before buying your next drink.
The gates are now all left open. So instead of crwoding inot the food hall where there is a lementable lack of seating, crash out at an unused gate.

If you have a choice fly to a different Airport do and never set foot in Dalaman.
Aparantly Voted worst airport in the world 2010
i was unfortunatly delayed at Dalaman for 9 hours last friday where after being told we could not take food or water through to the depature lounge we were greated with the most expensive travel retail outlets i had ever come accross.
This must be a scam. how else can you justify the following prices.
A small bottle of water was £5.00 and a coke (0.35ltr) was the same. food is astronomical at £13.00 for a Mcdonalds happy meal and the Pizza hut and KFC was the same. I had 3 children and 3 adults who i had to keep hydrated in a 40 degree non air con building for 9 hours and it cost me over £100.00 in water alone. the service provided for delays consisted of a slice of Pizza and a very small drink at midnight followed by a very small drink at 3 AM.
I asked to go back throug security as the 9 hour delay gave me time to take my party to a local resturant or hotel to eat and was told catagorically that it was not possible and then ignored. there was a complete lack of support or help and there are no officials air side at all.
then I whitnessed a serious breach of security when 2 girls (late teans) were escorted back through the boarder to have a cigerette (Un acompanied once through) and on return where escorted back through without passing via the scanners again. as you can imagine i was horrified as they could have come back through with who knows what in there bags.
fortunatly i had the good sence to have my camera and will be sending the photographic evedance to the department of transport to investigate the 2 border officers who where more interested in the girls chests than protecting passengers at there airport.
I will never return to Turkey and hence never return to Dalaman. In the event work takes me there i will fly to a different airport and drive.
GO TO A DIFFERENT COUNTRY. Never go to DALAMAN

I have had a poor experience of the Premium Lounge. There was no one to greet us when we arrived for at least 10 minutes. There was confusion over the Airport Angel booking made via the Internet. I had booked and paid for 2 guests and this seem to completely confuse the assistant who seemed to think we required a card for each guest, even though the guest had been paid for and I had written confirmation to show, this didn't seem to help at all. The hot drinks machine appeared broken and the assistant had to collect drinks from outside the lounge. The machine seemed to be ok later. There are no toilet facilities inside the lounge, but there is a toilet outside. This toilet had no hand towels and only 2 of the 4 cubicles had toilet paper. Very dissapointing.

Went on a visit to Turkey this year, had a great holiday in Marmaris. When it was time to leave, we bought some water to take on the journey as it was 45 degrees plus! Got to Dalaman airport to check in, went through the scanner and the officer said "you have water in your bag", I said "Yes, its still sealed" his reply? "drink it now" , I said "you dont have the same restrictions here as in England about liquids though?" again I got "drink it now or throw it." So confused, my partner and I drank half the 1.5 ltr bottle and binned the rest. When I tried to then buy a bottle to take on the plane ,£5 for a 500ml bottle! same price from every outlet in the place! £14 for a Burger King meal !?? £7.50 for a pint of lager! They held us to randsom knowing it was boiling hot outside and there was nowhere else to eat and drink. All the outlets price fixed water and food so as not to undercut each other. Absolutely disgusting. Will never go there again.

Couldnt beleieve it when we got to Dalaman airport hungry and faced with the option of paying nearly £13 for a Burger King !
We ended up feeling that allthough we had paid high prices throughout our holiday and that it would definitely affect whether or not we woud be returning to Turkey, this certainly made our mind up, and made us feel like we were really being the mickey out of.
It ensured our last memory of Turkey was that this a country that is similar to Greece a few years ago and is not bothered about shamefacedly ripping off their toursits assuming that word will not get round. Looking now at Greece and their failing tourist industry, Turkish Tourism reps should make sure this is not people's last memory of their country.

We just flew back from Dalaman airport and although we had 2 hours to kill we refused pay their ridiculoulsy high prices for food and drink. There are several high street companies ie MDs, Burger King but they all charge these high prices - it must be price fixing or bordering on some illegal practice. An MD burger is around £11, coffee is arround £4.50 and even a bottle of water will cost arround £4. Very few people were buying and it's leave visitors with a bad feeling of the place so it makes you wounder what their game is. The prices on the Easy Jet plane were a lot more reasonable.

Used 'Rain Transfer' for our transports from the airport to our resort. Ruined our holiday. Got taken to the wrong hotel, then had to pay 110TL in a taxi to get back, and then they refused to refund our money. Never use them. STAY AWAY!

Worst airport I have ever been in. £43 for 1x crisps, 4x cokes and 2x muffins in bar. No prices on display. Ridiculous McDonalds food prices also= £14 for unhappy meal! Long queues. Duty free very expensive. AVOID smelly toilets also. Deserves 0 score for customer service.

Hi, used Dm Transfers www.qxygene.net dalaman airport transfer company in October, and would like to say THANKS, it made a perfect start to a brilliant holiday, none of this hanging around the dalaman airport waiting for other flights to come in before you can leave. Definitely going to use you again. I certainly won't be going back to using a shuttle bus again, ever!

Arriving at Dalaman Airport at the start of our holiday was a easy, quick and efficient.
Using the airport for departure was a much more frustrating experience. 20:00 on a Monday evening, the queues to be scanned on entering the airport were about 10 minutes long, and was simple and straight forwards.
Check-in was a much longer wait - 3 desks, and we got in the slow queue. After waiting for about 50 minutes, we switched to the back of another queue and were checked-in before the people at the front of our queue were done!
Passport control was a straight-forwards affair, again, queue was approx 10 minutes. Went to departure lounge, and we wanted a drink and snack.
For 2 coffees (with coffee mate, no milk!) 2 cans of Fanta and 4 Mars bars, they tried to charge me £29!!! And their conversion of £ to yTL was £1 = 2yTL, not the 2.4 you get outside of the airport. Someone in the departure lounge said that the McDonalds Happy meals were £15 each.
My advice, take food and drink with you - unlike Gatwick you can take fluids (bottled water etc) all the way through and onto the plane.

I have travelled through this airport for many years and never had any issues. I'd put this down to a one off and visit Turkey again it is the best place for a really relaxing break. We have just returned home from Icmeler today after a really nice break. I must admit I always carry cameras and electronics as hand luggage though. Remember your case could have been pilfered at this end of the journey.
