I bought these Sennheiser PX 100 on a whim from borders they where in the sale for £20 i was going to go for some closed sony ones. Anyway if you can get these little gems for anything like £20 go for it i would be very very suprised if you are disapointed. Let me put it this way they are simply perffect fot hifo listning on spotyfy and also a small enough size to use as on a portable device and the case the come with and how they fold up is great to protext them and have them with you at all time wherever you may be!

Inexpensive, comfortable, compact. Cable a bit flimsy and too long! Go for these Headphones. At less than £20 the Sennheiser PX 100 are a steal if you want them for a mp3 player.

I have had a pair of PX100's for nearly 4 years now, and they are so good that I have taken to using 'em nearly all the time for my music listening.
No they aren't top notch hi-fi - for that you'd have to pay a lot more!
Friends with expensive setups have been amazed at the sound produced by these little gems.
Only now are the ear sponges on mine starting to show a little wear, so I was looking to replace these. At the current price of under £20 for the 'phones themselves, I think I'll buy another pair!
Worth every penny.......

I have been using the PX 100 for 2 months already, and I am very pleased with the quality. It boosts up the listening pleasure of any kind of music or sound. I could compare this to the Sennheiser professional series headphones and although there is a difference, it's not as big as to justify the cost difference.

The Sennheiser PX100 are a decent mid-price pair of headphones. I have owned many other pairs, including the Sennheiser PXC250. The PX100 are comfortable and pack a good sound delivery, especially when it comes to bass. I believe they are better than the PXC250s sound-wise, even though their look is nothing special. They are an open build design, which means the sound quality is better, however at the same time it means they leak more sound, potentially annoying people that might be near you. For their price, they are decent value. I recommend them.

I have purchased a few sets of headphones in the past spending as much as £50 on some, I never use the ones supplied with my ipods and I never got the true sound that I thought I should be getting.
I brought the Sennheiser PX 100's as I remember they had a good review in a mag I once read, they look plasticky and cheap but they certainly deliver the sound quality I have been after for so long, I kept switching from these and back to my old ones playing the same track, because I couldn't believe the clarity I was missing. Yes I like them!

I have been looking to upgrade my headphones, as I cannot stand the in the ear types. They are uncomfortable and sound terrible. I first went for a pair of Sony MDR-V300 which were excellent--until I went for a walk. They were too heavy, hot and creaked. They also had a cable that was 3m, and as thick as a power lead! I exchanged them for the Sennheiser PX100's and I have been very pleased.

They are light, sound fantastic, plenty of bass but never too much. They sound good at all levels, and my Creative Zen Touch drives them very well without any equalizer on. They also fold and go into a protective case, which is good to know they are protected in the bottom of your bag. They have a 2 year guarantee too.

As they are the open type, they may not make you friends on a train, but you can keep the volume down and still hear the outside world. They are as comfy as they are light, and I recommend them.

I bought the Sennheiser PX 100 headphones on the recommendation of 'Which?' magazine in the UK. A consumer magazine that evaluates many different products. Occasionally, they are wrong about some products.

I cannot recommend that anybody should buy these headphones.

I bought a pair of these for my daughter and was totally amazed by the sound quality for the (sub £20) price. So impressed I bought a second pair for myself. True, the construction is a bit flimsy and won't take much abuse, but in our safe hands they've have been a delight for over a year now....highly recommended!

PB

Previously and currently. I am still using a Beyer dynamic DT231 Pro headphone (around $60). The Sennheiser PX100 is an absolute disappointment. The bass is good, but where is the treble? In fact, where did the entire mid-range go? I would not recommend this headphone to anyone, unless you are used to <$15 headphones.

Bought for use with with a Creative Zen MP3 player. For the money, the sound quality is excellent and the phones are comfortable to wear. If you want to listen to serious hi fi though, you'll need to look for something rather better - and more expensive. The phones fold reasonably flat into their case which is too big to carry in a pocket but would be fine in say, a brief case. The lead is 1.5 metres which is too short for indoor use and rather long for use on the move. Despite these gripes, for £20 delivered (from Amazon) these phones deliver amazing sound, comfortably.

The Sennheiser PX100 headphones have lived up to Sennheiser's quality name ,as I expected. They are smart and stylish, and produce perfect sound quality, much better than anything else in it's price range! Highly recommended for anyone with an iPod, high quality MP3 player, or CD Walkman etc...
They have given me many months of high quality use. Even though I am now looking for something better, these are a must have for anyone with £25 to spare. The PX200's are also a very similar model, although it is a matter of preference. The PX200's have closed backs, so you get much better bass out of them, and also slightly more noise reduction. Whereas the PX100's are open, so they give you a much more realistic and airy sound, hence me choosing them.

I have seen loads of people around with the Sennheiser PX100 headphones. I am very into music, and like it to sound good, and a big part of that is the headphones you use.
I have an iPod and a laptop, so they are ideal to use with both of them when I am out and about doing stuff.
I paid £34.99 for mine at Virgin. They are worth every penny!
Don't think about it, just get them!

★★★★★

written by JonnyG on 22/06/2005

I got these Sennheiser PX 100 headphones as I'm not a fan of in-ear 'buds' because they make my ears sore and I can never get them in far enough to get decent bass out of them. But I wanted something portable, so these fitted the bill. Imagine my surprise as they turned out to have fantastic sound quality too..!

I've not heard anything that compares with these phones at the same price. Very detailed and open sound, with a whomping bass that belies the phones' small size.

You may look cool with your nice white iPod buds, but unless you're prepared to ram them so far into your ear they chemically bond with your ear drum, you'll never approach the bass reproduction on offer from the PX100.

They have an open-backed design which is not such good news for co-commuters, but Sennheiser do offer a closed back version - the PX200. I've not heard these so can't comment on whether the closed back makes any difference sonically.

The PX100's are very light and comfortable on the head, making extended listening possible. They don't make your ears hot, and they don't make your ear canal sore.

The only negative point is that over time I've found the folding design can make the headband a little unsturdy. The phones open and lock into place with a 'click', but the locking mechanism has worn a little over time, so one side doesn't lock into place securely. That's a small point however, as the headband keeps it's shape over your head whilst it's pressed against your ears.

Highly recommended.
