Our family has been flying with Alaska Air for so long that flying with another airline is something we try to avoid. AKA is like family. We usually book online, but if there is a problem, a human is always ready to assist. Their ticket prices are easier to understand and compare, there is more seat room, a smoother boarding process, better and less expensive menu items and much better customer service. “WORST EXPERIENCE EVER”

Business Travelers' Beware ----------- Wish I can give them a Zero. Paid for more than $1,000 for a LA to DC round trip and Alaska cancelled my return flight by error. Got stuck at the DC airport, even willing to pay for business or first class fare and still cannot get my seat back. I was forced to stay overnight due to this unexpected Alaska Airline Error, paid for hotel and taxi. Disrupted all my meetings in LA. I got a last minute upgrade on a flight up the coast last night and was shocked by the quality of the food. It was an 8PM dept, so I expected nothing but drinks. Instead - to my surprise - they were serving a salad and sandwich. The sandwich was small (I think they called it a slider) but it was really yummy. After trying a year to get any compensation of our damaged luggage I only can advise you to avoid this unfriendly and neglecting company. After having a terrible flight, it almost seemed that the pilot was really drunk!!!) we finally felt the wheels of the plane touching (well, a little bit more agressive :-) ) the precious ground. Well, as I know, I have fly with Alaska Airlines but not Horizon Air yet, Alaska Airlines, known as formerly as McGee Airways, was founded in 1930 by Mr. McGee, and, it has a bit of a history, I have flown with it the first time, it was between OK and awesome. Nice airline. Helpful FA's. Great customer service, Served good food for a LAX-RNO flight. They offered bags of chips, peanuts, crackers, and a breakfast meal (eggs, sausage) with a drink (sprite, coke, fanta, more soft drinks, coffee, and tea). Overall 10/10.
Will I fly with them again? Definitely.

On my flight to Los Angeles, before we left Seattle, the flight attendants cracked a great joke about blackberries during the safety demonstration. Theres no entertainment system on all of their aircraft apart from the Digeplayers on transcontinental flights but they are served from first class first and they may run out when your at the back of the plane which can be annoying. “Does anyone who works for this airline even care about...”

Does anyone who works for this airline even care about their customers. After all, we are the ones who pay their wages. The trip to Puerto Vallarta on Jan 15/08 was more than dissapointing. There were 3 couples traveling together on this trip. We flew from Victoria B.C. to Seattle with no problem arriving in Seattle at 7:00am. During the recent grounding of Horizon planes, Horizon employees, under great stress, did a great job. Most flew Alaska to get to their cancelled Horizon connections in Seattle. Unfortunately, Alaska employees took a "not my problem" approach and were generally rude. In my case, when Horizon ran out of the overnight kits (toothpaste, brush)I requested a kit from Alaska, but I was refused: 'It was Horizon's Problem'.

I work in an airport and witnessed the poor Horizon agents dealing with the mega-line ups due to the Q400 issues. They did the best they could but their passengers were in line for hours! In my opinion Horizon made a poor choice in selecting that aircraft, apart from the failing main gear, those planes are constantly having trouble with their computer systems and seem to be broken about 25% of the time - at least once a week I see one "off to the side" of the ramp sitting idle waiting for maintenence crews to come fix it again.

<br/>I just don't know, I really like the Horizon staff, but the mix of unreliable aircraft and the fact they're owned by and connect to Alaska, which in my opinion is a poor airline in all respects, means they really don't have a lot to work with unfortunately.

Flight from Vancouver to Portland was great. Only snacks were offered but coffee was aplenty. For such a short flight, you don't expect a full meal service and the plane was tiny. From the aircraft, the flight attendant showed us Mount St Helens, which was a nice touch, especially since I'm not from the area! Will I fly Horizon Airlines again? Of course! Alaska is the worst airline ever.
Instead of the food, which was supposed to be included due to the ticket, a piece of toast was offered for $5.
The same flexibility was experienced at the check-in desk. For only two kilos of overweight baggage I was charged $25.
Toilets were stinking in the cabin.
There was a shortage of blankets and pillows in the cabin. The pillows that were there were dirty.

I have always been impressed with the hospitality of Alaska Airlines. The flight attendants are very friendly, and usually very helpful for getting pillow and blankets on night flights, or getting refills on drinks or snacks in a timely manner. I do not recall any Alaska Airlines flights being late, and I have flown on them for 15 years. I always get AAdvantage frequent flyer miles on their flights, and I think that is the best program out there… Read Full Review
