In New York, estate executor Tom Silverstein, as his family has done dating back to 1408, provides financial and legal advice to the Blackstones. He persuades caterer Katherine Elizabeth Pudding to come to Scotland to look at her inheritance, but hides part of the truth from her. A week later she journeys to Castle Blackstone where the ghostly Laird resides.

In Drasmoor, Scotland, trapped between life and death, Duncan MacDonald awaits unhappily the arrival of the heir, a cook from some barbarous realm called The Bronx. Still he prays she is the one to free him from his six centuries old curse. Not long after she enters the castle, he slips a ring on her and they travel back to the fourteenth century. As Beth and Duncan fall in love, she takes over the running of his castle and prays she can free her beloved from the curse that is yet to occur.

A MAN IN A KILT is an amusing romance that satirizes several sub-genres to include paranormal, time travel, medieval, and to a lesser degree contemporary. Fans of each classification will laugh at the antics of Beth as she loosely adjusts to running the show although she fails to speak the language and cannot find any of the modern day tools she is used to having; her twenty-first century profession as a caterer and living in the Bronx work quite well in managing a castle. Duncan is the typical brooding hero who needs to surrender his heart if he is to avoid the curse. This is a fun time for romance readers.
