The Experience Started Off Quite Differently, But
The experience started off quite differently, but didn't start correctly, no context was set - where they came from etc. It is also badly laid out because you get a room full of people exiting the ride into the building at once. The chap standing at the stand was very good and informative, but standing in completely the wrong place. You have to read reams and reams of information, which isn't very engaging. It was expensive and in my opinion not interesting for an everyday tourist.

Queued In Anticipation For A Laughable Attraction.
Queued in anticipation for a laughable attraction.
The Jorvik Viking Centre experience is very rushed, is poor value for money and is over in half an hour. A total waste of money. When we went there were no smoke, no smells, and it was a real let-down which were promised on the promotional literature. I struggle to see how this is so popular as for £8.50 per adult it is a joke.

Very Dissapointed With Jorvik Viking Centre After
Very dissapointed with Jorvik Viking Centre after visiting the original excavations many years ago. Also dissapointed that Militray Veternas do not get a concession from the indivudual admission of #8.50. It's not worth it, although I appreciate it is registered as a charity (but it's only for archeological research etc).
The Jorvik Viking Centre Has A Seated Ride Through
The Jorvik Viking Centre has a seated ride through a mock viking village. The animatronics are laughably bad. Have you ever seen one of those models in a cobblers window, that has a hammer and beats the shoe? It's that bad only it's now 20 years old so doesn't quite work properly. Also the speakers in the chairs are too high up for most young children ( 6 and 8 ), so you have to relay the commentary from the speakers to your kids. The venue is tiny and you feel rushed by the people who queue up behind you. I dont feel I have learned anything new about vikings, so I doubt my kids have. it cost £26 for a family of four to spend 30 minutes not learning anything.

Jorvik Viking Centre In York Is A Reconstruction O
Jorvik Viking Centre in York is a reconstruction of actual Viking-Age streets, and you can see what life was really like over 1000 years ago. Starting with a spaceship type simulator to give a travel back in time effect, you then tour through the viking village in a tracked car. The village is full of authentic smells and street noises. You can see how the vikings lived, worked, and the things they made and had to eat. You can even see a Viking man on the loo which is quite funny! Moving on from the viking village is a small museum showing skeletons and various things like tools, coins and clothes that have been excavated. The shops are filled with viking toys for the boys, and even swords for the big boys! Enjoyable and interesting for all ages.
