“A fortunate find.”

written by bobeep on 23/03/2017

I found this little beauty lying in the corner of a local charity shop. No box and looking a bit dusty. I paid the asking price of £20 and headed home to see if it still worked. I was amazed at the sound quality and ease of use. Great tuner also. This must be the best bargain ever to come my way. The sound quality is clear and precise and holds up well with my expensive Hi-Fi System. Because of this, I have given it to my brother in his new Flat to replace his poor sounding equipment. He is delighted with it and he has found a new inspiration to start listening again to his large CD collection. I would recommend this unit to anyone who appreciates good sound quality in a very compact System.

“Best micro Hi Fi ever? 12 yrs and still going...”

written by OleFattGuy on 29/10/2012

I bought the Panasonic SA-PM03 as an interim solution while I was gonna decide what high-end solution to splurge out on. This was around the milennium shift and I had gotten into some money. As it turned out, I never did splurge, instead I have gotten the best ROI I could ever (not) have expected! OK, it is a micro, it doesn't have a booming bass (who wants it), and it seems to be lacking a bit in the high mid (song, trumpet, some guitars etc), but hey, what did you expect from a <£200 system? But the bass reflex speakers are amazing for their size, crisp and clear and balanced, especially with the front cover removed. Over the DOZEN years I have owned it it has NEVER malfunctioned in any way. I moved once and the stereo survived that, It used to sit in my 35 m2 living room, and now it fills my more humble 12 m2 living room with honourable mention. I have added a turntable (with pre-amp) and still enjoy my old LP's every once in a while. CDs play no problem (not CD-ROMs though), and the radio has great stereo reception , with programmable pre-set stations, works a charm... I used to plug this into my home theater system (5.1) to get extra oomph but these days it stands alone and shines its blue light, and I don't miss the bass that much. The CD load is vertical, automatic and impressive, since it still works after all these years... All in all, the best investment in Hi-Fi I have ever made. I would buy it again in a heartbeat, but it seems I won't have to in the nearest future. Never had I expected the Panasonic SA-PM03 to live this long...

I have had mine for about 10 years and it has just been fantastic, good speakers. The CD is great as was the radio - but that is begining to go now.

Value for money is superb and if I could I would replace it would the same, but today I will also be looking for MP3 input etc

Still looks great

I have had my Panasonic SA-PM03 for almost 10 years and it is still working perfectly! I heard it in the store and knew that it was exactly what I was looking for. I have moved numerous times and always make sure this little beauty is packed safely. The sound quality is AMAZING. The compact size is great. You can snug this baby anywhere and cannot really see it but can certainly hear it. I would definitely recommend this system to anyone! Well done Panasonic!!!!

The Panasonic SA-PM03 has a great sound !!! Great sound quality
good mid bass
nice midrange and tremble responce
i have mine for more then 4 year
the sound has improved Could be a little bit more woofer responce in higher volume and the tweeter seems to make a little bit of distortion.

I bought this system in 2001 and it's still going strong- just as you can expect from a Panasonic product. It has great sound quality, easy to operate and great colour combination with the wood on the speakers.
Very good buy!
For the age of this system, it is brilliant. Of course it now lacks MP3 input/capability, card slots etc as music technology has moved on since I purchased it in 2001, but am still very happy with it and in my opinion is still a very good competitor to the systems of today.

BUY THIS if you are looking for a small CD player for the wife, kitchen, hot tub area. We have used it in all those areas. In addition we carry around the house and it gets abused over the holidays. GREAT UNIT.

Owned since about 2003 or so. This unit has been stationed everywhere in the home and pool area and yard over its life and is great and simple. Good sound. The one thing I find odd is the volume numbers seem backwards. But who cares it works great.

GO SONY you can't wrong is my motto. (no I don't work for sony)

Excellent sound reproduction! Way better than other mini systems. Made to last forever!
Quality product and superb minimalistic design.
No bad points to make really... Maybe screen can be better, because now is a bit hard to see from distance the info on it.
Well recommend Panasonic SA-PM03.

I got my Panasonic SA-PM03 as a gift from a friend 7 years ago. Till today, after moving 4 times, I still kept this CD-Stereo System, because it has such a great sound quality and very easy to use. The blue-backlite is cool. Simple design, so it's never out of style. I really like this sound system. Great quality.

I've had my SA-Pm03 for getting on 4 years now. I find it incredibly easy to use and the sound quality for such a basic system is comparable to that of larger high end hifi's. I'd definitely go for this one again it cost me £129:99 and was definitely value for money

I've had my Panasonic SA-PM03 for about 4 years now I think it set me back about £180. It has, and continues to serve me very well offering great quality sound, I would certainly happily buy another Panasonic for my next stereo. It could be improved by adding a tape deck but it's a minor gripe. It has an auxiliary port so I can play my MP3 player through it. It also looks very smart, mine has black speakers. Only problem is it has developed a clicking in the mechanism that lifts the lid for the CD to be inserted, when being turned on and when opening and closing the lid. Don't suppose anyone out there has encountered and conquered this problem?

written by Alastair Foster. on 08/08/2001

Generally a superb machine. Other machines may offer more features at a lower price, but they don't come anywhere near matching the sound quality of this one. The laser drivers and bass reflex ports in the speakers ensure crisp and rich sound reproduction with great soundstaging.

The only critism I have is that it is a bit weak in the vocal range and the 'sound virtualiser' feature has to be left switched off, as it tends to worsen this problem as well as interfering with the sound definition in the upper range.

This machine also features a sleep timer, standby power saving features and an electric top loading CD eject system which lifts the platform up for easy removal of the disc.

Absolutely agree with the review - phenomenal value for money. We've been amazed at the sound quality which compares favourably many lower-end separate combos...

I agree. Sounds better than my old mini hi-fi which was more powerful. <br>And it looks cool too. Love the CD-raising mechanism and bay light.
