Hire A Car As There Is No Public Transport, Malia

Hire a car as there is no public transport, Malia cars are good. They also do excursions at half the price as the tour reps. A trip to Spinalongo is a good day out.

We Only Paid Under £500 Each For 2 Weeks All

We only paid under £500 each for 2 weeks all inclusive and we couldn't find anything any cheaper for just self catering. It is a lovely village, which is still very unspoilt. We had a lovely time and met some great people in and outside the Sun Village hotel.

I Have Just Returned From A Short Break At Sun Vil

I have just returned from a short break at Sun Village, booked just 2 days before I travelled. I too was worried when I read the reviews on Review Centre but my concerns were totally unfounded!

The hotel was pretty, set in a good location and had the biggest pool of any I saw whilst on Crete!

The whole complex was clean and well kept! Our room was cleaned on all but the first day we were there and the pool was completely emptied and refilled. The pool area was clean and tidy and there were even inflatables available for everyone's use without charge!

Breakfast was basic but plentiful and tasty breads, cereals, juice, Greek yogurt and honey, egg.

Yes this hotel is quiet while only 15 minutes away by car from Malia, Sun Village is a world away, it was quiet with no entertainment, so if nightclubs and bass lines into the early hours are your cup of tea then don't go there! If you want a quiet peaceful holiday in the sun, in nice, clean surroundings you will have a great holiday here!

You will love Sun Village. There were young and old families and couples there at the same time as us. They all seemed to be enjoying it as much as we did.

Sissi is a 10 minute walk away and has plenty of bars and tavernas to eat at, selling both Greek and other foods. There is a decent supermarket less than 5 minutes walk from the hotel which sells English newspapers, amongst other things.

Enjoy!

Wish We Had Read Other Reviews Before Booking This

Wish we had read other reviews before booking this was the most expensive holiday we had ever had off teletext and it was the worst.

Mr Alak wrote his review before the hotel changed hands, since September 2005 Sun Village is not all inclusive, it has new management and a new owner. All clients in 2006 are satisfied!

I Have Just Returned From An Ai Holiday At The Sis

I have just returned from an AI holiday at The Sissi Sun Village in Crete, and I found the facilities were very basic. 1*, definitely not A class or 4* as advertised.

My main complaints include:-

. Quality of cleanliness around the pool area was non existent - no one cleaned the pool furniture or picked up rubbish, broken glass, dirty glasses, and cigarette butts everywhere.

. The dining area provided inadequately cleaned glasses and plates etc.

. The kitchen staff wore dirty clothes.

. The food on some days was barely edible, particularly at breakfast.

. The drinks were very poor quality with little choice.

. The room in the new block hadn't yet been finished, and there were gaps around all openings, and unpainted etc. No hairdryers, phone connections or radios.

. The balcony was divided by cheap chipboard, and the balcony rails didn't feel safe, and again not painted.

. The sea view was to the side over waste ground (rubbish tip), typical of Greece

. The staircase was temporary

The positives were that the rooms were kept reasonably clean and tidy, which I thanked the chamber maids for, and on some days the food was good, but the choice was limited.

Whilst there, nearly every guest complained to both the hotel and the Sun Med hotels rep. I felt no one listened, as nothing changed.

Very Deceiving, Be Careful What You Buy Over The T

Very deceiving, be careful what you buy over the telephone! apart from the good suntan and 1 good night in Malia the rest of the holiday at Sun Village was the worst we'd ever been on and wished we'd chosen somewhere else.

I Went To The Sissi Village Hotel As Part Of An Al

I went to the Sissi Village hotel as part of an all inclusive package, and although the meals were not always up to scratch, they could have been worse. the evening meal was not as nice as the other two meals, but in all, It was a good holiday. the pool bar was quite nice, and I loved the banana ice-cream, although it was rather off-putting that the glasses used for ouzo are also used for soft drinks, and you can taste the ouzo when having a soft drink.

Sun Village, Sissi, Crete. This Holiday

Sun Village, Sissi, Crete.

This holiday has to be the worst holiday we have ever had. There were only two redeeming features, the room and the sunshine. My wife and I usually go on All Inclusive deals as we find this easier. However on arrival we were told that there was a weekly charge for air conditioning of 35 euros that is about £24 per week and another 10 euros for the safe deposit box. No beach towels are provided and usually with fully inclusive deals you get a bottle of water a day for your room but they do not do this. They also do not like you taking a bottle to the dining room and filling it up. As the temperature was ranging between 30 and 34 degrees you had to drink a lot so as not to dehydrate.

The hotel is in different states of repair a health and safety nightmare. Pathways unfinished and wiring hanging down. The restaurant windows had big gaps for flying beasties to come in.

The food was in a word disgusting and it was not only me complaining there were Dutch and Welsh families there and we all felt as though the management did not care. The food was not local and it was badly prepared, hard rice, very greasy dishes and when one of the guests complained about the amount of oil they just said to her that it was good for her heart. The only reasonable dish was salad but if it didn't all go at one sitting they would bring it out for the next meal. All the juices had been watered down. Flies were all over the food and had no covering; I am amazed we didn't get a tummy upset. Normally an All Inclusive you get the local spirits but the choice here is Raki, beer and soft drinks only.

The hotel is situated on a rocky foreshore and it is very difficult to swim from there. So the only real opportunity to swim is the hotel pool which we all complained about as it had clearly not been cleaned and there was a ring of grease around the waterline where children had written their names in the grease. After much complaining the pool was emptied and refilled but not cleaned. Also, people are allowed to take dogs to this hotel and one of them messed by the pool. Despite telling staff about this it was not cleaned and allowed to dry in the sun with children running around the pool.

The attitude of staff was terrible and although promising to do something when pressed it never happened.

The nearest town is Sissi and is a short walk about mile and is very pleasant with some good restaurants and cafes. The nearest big town Malia is a 40 euro taxi ride as the buses only run a couple of times a day.

I went to Crete in 94 and stayed in a bed and breakfast it was a wonderful experience that tempted me to go back.

This holiday was undoubtedly the worst one I have ever had and proof of this was on the day before we left on 13th July the representative of Med Hotels ran out of complaint forms. The manager did not turn up on our day of departure.

It has the potential this hotel to be very good but not with the present management.

You have been warned!
