Close to downtown. Not in a good area. Stay generally was Ok, except the area and the drunken bellcaptain! Stayed in August 08. Would not recommend the Miyako Hotel in Los Angeles.

The Miyako Hotel in E. First Street is close to Union Station (Amtrak and the Metro), as well as to various areas of interest, such as Little Tokyo, Chinatown, Olvera Street (the oldest surviving part of LA), the Museaum of Contemporary Art, the Japanese American National Museum, etc. The Metro makes travel to Hollywood, and the commercial centre of Downtown LA equally easy.
