“Going down hill”

Written on: 01/07/2018 by DeshawnCrawford (1 review written)

My family have been members here over 10 years now, unfortunately the club has been in rapid decline for the past 4 or so years it is in dire need of refurbishment as it is way behind all the other gyms! Standards have been allowed to slip in this period. Some members/ temporary members are allowed to treat the gym like a tip, kids eating food in the outside pool, then being sick more recently. Seating in the club restaurant in disgusting, so many stains! There seems to be no respect for the… Read Full Review

“Nice club but a few problems”

Written on: 13/05/2018 by nursejackie (2 reviews written)

I am a member at their Chorley club. The facilities are great, and I especially love the pools as you can almost always have a lane to yourself, although I pay a hefty monthly fee for the privilege! However, I have two problems: 1 - the music in the gym is dismal. It's so loud some days I have to leave the gym, and the playlist is terrrible IMHO. I have left feedback twice and complained at reception, but no one contacted me and nothing's changed. 2 - unruly children in the changing rooms… Read Full Review

“My son went to see the gym and asked questions, he...”

Written on: 20/02/2018 by dsMolloy175 (1 review written)

My son went to see the gym and asked questions, he told them he would think about it as the package was £75 per month !! The guy then responded it was too late as he had put the paperwork through. My son suffered from depression and lost his job, they would not listen to him and just kept saying he had to pay (sending Bayliff letters) We now found out you have to give 3 months notice to get out of a 12 month contract or you are auto signed up again, I work part time and are having to pay his… Read Full Review

I had the same problem at another gym. Went to Citizens Advice, they wrote to the company and contract was terminated. I hope you have got it sorted and all the best.

“Teesside gym Turning into a creche”

Written on: 11/12/2017 by rvMcCartney8 (1 review written)

Since putting the new synergy equipment in the downstairs gym seems to have turned into a glorified crèche! They put on a child’s synergy class at 5.30pm! Even upstairs you can hear the kids shouting and screaming. I go to the gym to work out not to listen to a load of kids who run around whilst parents take no notice of what they are doing or the noise they are making. Staff are mainly friendly with some exceptions. David Lloyd gyms are there purely to take as much money of people as they… Read Full Review

“THE MOST HORRIBLE PLACE TO WORK AT”

Written on: 18/09/2017 by RubenCross324 (1 review written)

During the time I was working here (over a year) I saw about 20-30 people including the whole management team change. The poor management style, always understaffed, always being bullied and pressured to do duties outside of your job description for no extra pay is definitely something to think about when applying for a job. This company has the worst management I have seen in my life. No prospects at the company unless you know someone. Always working overtime. Working 30-50 hours a week is… Read Full Review

“Dishonest ”

Written on: 12/05/2017 by 14Prater (1 review written)

Don't ever go to the David Lloyd club. I would choose anytime fitness who are not far or the Village where the equipment is newer and the staff are great they really make you feel like you are family. I joined the David Lloyd a long time ago when It first opened and the staff were nice and the people who went there were nice. But it has slowly gone down hill. I rejoined in June 2016 where David Lloyd did a new 3 month membership with a 1 month cancellation. I spoke to someone who said yes no… Read Full Review

“terrible and frankly rude”

Written on: 14/03/2017 by ozGreer105 (1 review written)

I am NOT surprised that the building in Portsmouth Port Solent is mostly empty as my experience of them is terrible. on 3 occasions, their sales staff didn't even bother to call me back. when i DID manage to speak to someone and went in to see the place, the staff member didn't apologise, had the enthusiasm of a wet rag and didn't even want to show me how equipment was used. I DID complain to their head office, with a promised response from the GM. That was about 2 weeks ago and nothing yet… Read Full Review

“Turned back at the reception”

Written on: 04/01/2017 by Grady194 (1 review written)

Extremely disappointed at being turned back 1 hour before the closing time because they are not letting anyone in an hour before the communicated closing time. I pay a premium for the facilities as compared to other gyms and this is how my time is disrespected. And I am not disappointed at having policies, major disappointment at advertising a time that people can see online before getting ready and driving all the way over, only to find out a new time and policy at the reception. I do not… Read Full Review

“Crippling and disproportionate fee increases”

Written on: 28/12/2016 by Sassyparella (1 review written)

DL have yet again increased its prices for 2017. To be a member of Raynes Park excluding racquets is now a monumental £106 per month up from £100.75 per month during 2016. Shocking! They obviously wish to fleece their so called affluent membership set. The club has become elitist down south but seems more reasonably priced up North. Their pricing strategy needs a major overhaul… Read Full Review

“David Lloyd Epsom Appalling”

Written on: 07/12/2016 by ShannonO'Donnell (1 review written)

The classes are all full and in 3 months I wasn't able to do a Pilates class on a Wednesday. Staff on desk helpful but unable to sort out problem. Contracted a skin disease - manager assures me is very common and that their cleanliness is second to none. Asked for full 3 month refund - was told I was patronising him ! I am 63 with arthritis and my husband is 72 with cancer . There is no apology or refund . Beware . Their actions speak for themselves… Read Full Review

“Unprofessional cleaner ”

Written on: 26/10/2016 by Foleypc154 (1 review written)

I go to the David Lloyd on kingswood in hull, I really do love everything about it and the 500K redo has made it even more better, but I have one complaint and I'm hoping someone sees this and puts me to rest, there's a teenager girl cleaner who's roughly there at 4pm onwards, she is constantly staring inappropriately at me and my boyfriend and every time we see her, she tries to push her b.u.m out as much as she can to grab my boyfriends attention and she even pulls her leggings up so they… Read Full Review

“Worst service for first time trials of the gym...”

Written on: 16/08/2016 by PaitynRoth37 (1 review written)

I went to this gym a week ago I anniesland first of all I waited like twenty minutes after the reception lady knowing that I was here with my cousin for first time trials of just the sauna and steam. The person that was supposed to be dealing with me and my cousin was only about 10 feet from where I was waiting and the lady notified him twice or thrice that we were there. At this point if he didn't walk out I would have left. He came out didn't even attempt to be nice and present himself as a… Read Full Review

“unfair contract terms”

Written on: 23/07/2016 by leecottrill (1 review written)

Disgraceful how they unfairly treat customers with contracts. Be VERY careful to read your terms & conditions before you join this gym. If you don't cancel in time in the last month of your initial contract then they then sign you up to a further 3 months which you can't get out of. This is considered 'unfair' practice by the government's Office of Fair Trading which states : “8.1 A clause which states how long a contract has to run is likely to be among its most important 'core' terms. If a… Read Full Review
