I have had this Specialized Rockhopper Comp bike for a good seven years and it has lasted brilliantly. Highly recommended unless you are doing a serious downhill biker.

Love The Specialized Rockhopper Comp Bike, 9speed,
Love the Specialized Rockhopper Comp bike, 9speed, deore shifters and front, and LX rear. This is an excellent bike and you can replace stuff as it wears and be able to use this frame. It comes w/ a decent component setup. climbs great, handles great, overall an excellent bike. decent starter fork. Good frame, so that you can replace parts as they wear out, and have a solid frame to build on. Only bad point is the stock saddle/seat is awful. feels like you're sitting on rocks.

I Have Had This For A Good Few Months Now And Even
I have had this for a good few months now and even friends who have bikes triple the price love it. The spec is good and not much has been compromised for the money. The only thing is the terrible paint job that chips far too easily.

Go for it, the comp model is very much worth the extra 150 notes over the rockhopper disc model.. the forks are brilliant.

This bike has been ridden hard on rough (stony and rooted) single track, technical single track, deep rutted down hill, monster climbs and XC trails. As stated above the tyres fitted as standard to this bike are not favourable with British winter conditions but even with this lack of grip factored in the Specialized Comp has behaved it's self impeccable (apart from the occasional mega wobble). If I hadn't been so tight and lazy and purchased some decent tyres back in January, who knows what extra speed and control could have been achieved with this bike, alas some of the scary moments would have been averted. In summary I am very happy with this product, I tested the standard Rock Hopper Disc and found it heavier on the front end due to the Tora fork which in my opinion upset the balance of the bike. The Comp however with the lighter Recon fork rectified this balance issue perfectly.
