Still Have My Powerbook G4 1.67 Ghz And Cant Live

Still have my Powerbook G4 1.67 Ghz and cant live without it !

Still looks like the day I bought it, now has a fresh 250 Gig HD, new battery,

and power supply. Macbook Pro? What's the rush ???

I am running Leopard 10.5.8 on it and its fast for all my needs . ( 2 Gig RAM )

The PPC is far from over...

And much prefer the all silver look and awesome keyboard over the newer unibody

design with the annoying chicklet keyboard.

I have I life, I work, and Office 2008 on board and it coasts along without issue.

My plans include my Powerbook as my main machine until it either blows or vice versa.

Long live the PPC Powerbook 1.67 Ghz !!!!

Hello ! I Have To Put In My Two Cents O

Hello !

I have to put in my two cents on this topic. I have owned several Macs, PC's

and everything in between. My Powerbook G4 1.67Ghz is a true marvel and keeps me up late, and I love it !!

Using this keyboard is addictive ! The screen clarity is equally addictive !

This laptop is in a league by itself, never ( Knock wood ) gave me any remote

signs of doom, just installed a new battery and changed the power supply for a new unit, its as good as new. I am running OS X 10.5.8 leopard with 2 gigs of RAM, i'm in total computing heaven. There are endless things to say about this laptop, Pinnacle, high end, utopic, and the list goes on....

In reality this Powerbook more than serves my needs, it makes computing an enjoyable experience. I have used PC laptops, yes they have their strengths, but I have already went through 3 of them and still have my G4... Do the math.

My only wish this xmas is that my Powerbook keeps on going for time to come.

The macbook Pros have 2 things against it, that awfull gloss screen, and nasty keyboard layout...What gives ???? Why change a winning formula for the sake of aesthetics... Eeeshh !

If my laptop ever goes to G4 heaven, I will seek another or an early macbook pro with the same chassis build in 15" format.

I Have Owned A Last-generation Powerbook G4 For Ne

I have owned a last-generation Powerbook G4 for nearly four years — knock on wood — and it has been consistently reliable the entire time. Although I could probably do with adding more the machine's 512 mb of RAM, it still performs fairly well despite its age. The biggest downside to having an old Powerbook is that my battery no longer works for more than about 30 seconds on its own, so it needs to be plugged in at all times. For the last year or so it hasn't been notifying me when the battery is about to cut out, so if the machine is accidentally unplugged it has a habit of just shutting off without warning.

Also, I don't know how common this problem is for Powerbooks, but for the last year or so mine sometimes has parts of the screen randomly break out in bright red, flashing pixels. It's weird, and probably not a good sign for my beloved Powerbook, but it's only an impediment if I'm trying to watch a film or something.

I also don't like that Apple-brand peripherals are so expensive. I broke my adapter a year ago and buying a new one from Apple would've cost £90; luckily I found an authentic adapter elsewhere online for less than half of that.

Initially I purchased a Powerbook rather than the cheaper iBook, hoping that a Powerbook would last more in the long run. The Powerbook was also a sleeker machine overall: better screen resolution, more processing power and memory, and has the best keyboard I've ever typed on. I find the keyboards on the newer MacBook range are especially awful compared to those on the Powerbook, and the 'matte' type screen on the Powerbook is much better than the glossy, glare-inducing MacBook screen. Needless to say, I'm glad I ended up with a last-gene Powerbook rather than a first-gen MacBook. The current problems I have with my computer are really outweighed by how happy I am with its performance in all other areas.

It will be a truly heartbreaking day for me when (if?) my Powerbook dies out for good. It has been a great companion for everyday use, for work, and for school.

I've Now Had My G4 Powerbook For 5 Years And It's

I've now had my G4 powerbook for 5 years and it's still going strong although a little slower which is to expected. Still does everything I need, sorts photos, video editing, web browsing, email, etc etc. an old round top dog!

Its the 1.25 ghz, 15 inch model with bluetooth, wireless, backlit keyboard and dvd burner which cost me over £2000 at the time! Now the same specs are about £1300!

The Apple Powerbook G4 Was The Best Thing Availabl

The Apple Powerbook G4 was the best thing available when it came out but some people had problems with the screen hinges breaking leaving the laptop in two parts! It was the first laptop to be able to edit video up to broadcast quality. I would buy another the same if this one was lost or broke down.

I've Had 17" Apple Powerbook G4 For Just Over A Ye

I've had 17" Apple PowerBook G4 for just over a year. With 512mb ram it works like a dream. I often have several applications running at once and use ram eating graphic s/w, never yet have I had a problem. The screen is excellent. All in all this is about the best bit if kit I've come across (short of Unix boxes in the workplace).

The 1.33mhz Version Of The Mid Sized Apple Powerbo

The 1.33Mhz version of the mid sized Apple PowerBook G4 is a full speed ahead, fully featured laptop that is capable of replacing your desktop machine in 90% of real world cases.

Apples stand out industrial design ensures that this machine looks as good as it goes and will certainly ensure envious looks should you wish to use it on the train or in public, while massive connectivity (Firewire 400, 800, USB USB2, Airport, Blutooth, Rendevouz and Gigabit ethernet) ensure that where ever you use it you should be able to get online or hooked up to something, even windows neworks...if you have too.

Speed is well up to par and faster in use than the lowly megahertz rating would suggest to dedicated PC users. Only hard core video and image editors will struggle to bog the processor down while lighter graphics, word, excel and intenet use will hardly cause it to break sweat.

The 15in display is clear and bright for mobile use and the built in 64Mb graphics card can connect and drive a 22in screen at high resolution. Hard drive space is adequate and as ever Apple supply the machines with ridiculously small amount sof RAM (256Mb- nearly all of which will be gobbled up by the OS).

These small gripes aside this machine will last most users a good few years and as long as any parts failures occur during the initial years warrenty owners will be able to call on Apple care which offers a simply outstanding level of service.
