I have previously done serious ligament damage and continue to play with a swollen ankle 2 years later despite warnings. All this period I have worn the Nike Total 90s and they have provided great support but are not as bulky as shin guards can be; they are still comfortable when running.
I have had no problems and recommend these strongly…

I am considering buying Nike Total 90 shin pads as they seem to have a pretty good ankle support system...(it sits really tightly around your ankle)...they look cool too lol.
Also, Henry and a few other EPL players wear them so they must be alright lol. One thing I noticed is that they don't have a strap to wrap around your leg. I think they left it out because they found is pointless if you're wearing long enough socks lol. But I think it may slip around slightly during play. also the ankle…

Any of the total 90 guards that i've been looking at have the wrap around front fastener (velcro) on the top, I am looking for ones without, as I hate the strap.
