UK based sandwich shop and coffee. It tastes good and always a best option for brunch.

“Poor and overrated brand”

★☆☆☆☆

written by ConorDrew248 on 11/06/2019

I have stopped going to Pret, especially since the customers that died and now employees died as well. Workers seem happy but more and more the reason for this is emerging that they are forced to be happy or lose their job The food is okay but too expensive and weird I prefer a simple sandwich and go to my local independent café now

“Understaffed and stressed staff”

I cannot recommend Pret at all. Staff are overstretched and terrible treatment behind the scenes. expret.org

“Every Pret seems understaffed”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Alvarez1978 on 29/12/2018

Going to different Prets and it's mostly the same, although the staff seem to smile a lot, they look stressed. I received many times the wrong coffee and started to observe the service to find that it is mostly understaffed. I have started to visit independent cafes again, especially after the allergen issues. Too loud and hectic.

Love everything from the decor to the way that the staff make you feel like a real person! They even take 50p off for reusing your own cups. Eco friendly! Fabulous

“Kingston branch ”

Prrat had the worst customer service out out all coffee shops. I went there to have cip of chai latte. The coffee they made was horrible. They' sell chai latte without cinnamon. It is incredible that they did not haberim cinnamon in the shop. I had drunk a cup of milk instead of chai latte. I sat down upstairs. It was freezing! They put air conditioniing on so high. The temperature outside was not that hot. i asked one of the staff to turn it off or turn it down. They said they can't I was shivering while I was sitting there.. I will never ever go there again.

“Great selection”

Pret a manger is a good sandwich shop although it is a little pricey. That said, every time I go I'm spoilt for choice so it definitely gets the products right. Some of the smaller stores can have a limited amount of products, but the larger stores are absolutely brilliant. Definitely recommend them if you've never been.

“Not that cheap but always tasty”

★★★★☆

written by reviewkitten on 24/12/2012

Pret is my lazy lunch choice. They are not exactly cheap but as the sandwiches and salads are made on site they are always fresh, the bread isn't stale and any lettuce has not had the chance to go soggy. In the summer I like to get the Italian Chicken salad which contains a mix of soft chicken, nuts salad and olives and peppers (which I always remove) or the breadless crayfish and avocado. But I really look forward their Christmas sandwich. Complete this year with turkey, cranberry, stuffing, spinach and crispy onions...perfect. Their three layered chocolate mousse is also heaven in a pot. Good for wraps too but I'm not so keen on the soups anymore, not flavoursome enough. A good place to go for lunch once a week.

“Not bad... Mostly because there is nowhere else to go.”

written by dennispj on 03/04/2012

Every morning I head to Pret to pick up my breakfast. Normally go for a coffee, porridge (with honey) and some fruit. It works out quite expensive going five times a week but the convenience is great. A big plus is that they seem way more efficient when compared to Starbucks in serving coffee! There is only one person operating the machine but they churn it out super quick. Negative - the fruit sucks a little.

Generally i like to food at Pret a Manger. You know that when you eat there you are probably going to get a good quality sandwich in some exciting flavours. Their crisps are a joy to eat though and i am always being tempted by them and they are often that which lures me into the shop in the first place.

Never having any money it is very useful that they take credit card but my main issue with them is that they seem to be hideously overpriced. I often find sandwiches from delis are cheaper and bigger but then they usually don't take card, so Pret wins again

Very fast service and good coffeeat Pret A Manger. I like the very berry fruit pot and there always seems to be plenty of stock in my local Pret a Manger. It can be a little manic in store at peak times but staff are always polite. My coffee was delayed one morning and the lady refunded my money for having waited so long and I hadn't even complained - nice touch! I love the baguettes but the sandwiches always seems to have a bit too much dressing or mayo in for my taste. Fruit is expensive especially as there is a fruit and veg stand right outside my nearest Pret where I know they sell single items much cheaper.

Coffee excellent, sandwiches good (lack on vegetarian options on occasions), soup used to be brilliant and probably still is good, but Hayloft Foods Soups tops theirs every time. Their Saag Aloo & Rice Soup makes Pret's look and taste like dishwater - not quite, but if you get the chance to try Hayloft Foods soup you will not be disappointed.

“I popped in to Pret a Manger for a coffee today...”

I popped in to Pret a Manger for a coffee today thinking I could sit outside and enjoy a ciggie with my coffee. I'd been shopping and fancied a sit down, coffee and smoke but to my surprise when I went outside to grab a seat all the tables had 'No Smoking' signs on them! Now, I know smoking has been banned but us smokers only have the outdoors in which to indulge our habit and have endured cold, wet and windy weather on many occasions when all the non-smokers are snug and warm inside. A bit of decent weather and the non-smokers want to sit outside and I don't object to that but why should smokers be penalised once again? I feel this is an infringement of my human rights - you would not be allowed to put signs on tables banning people based on race, religion, size or any form of disability but smokers are treated worse than any other section of society! As it happened most of the tables were empty but a few doors down Starbucks was full! Anyway, I took the coffee back and said I would like a refund which was not a problem for the staff and I was also informed that I could keep the coffee, which I refused and went elsewhere. Needless to say I will not be returning.

I buy my lunch very often from Pret a Manger, I usually go for one of their soups depending on what they have, the chicken avocado sandwich, one of the hot wraps or one of their choices of salads, the food is fresh and very tasty, the place is always clean and tidy and the staff are really friendly and offer great customer service, I also have tried their esspreso, it is lovely and they sometimes offer free coffee in the morning for their regular customers

Pret A Manger make the best coffee of all of the franchises, in my experience. The coffee is rich and rounded and you don't need to ask for an extra shot as it's quite strong enough. A soya latte costs a mere £1.89 (compared with £2.40 at Starbuck's). They also fill the cup up - so often at Starbuck's you come away with 2/3rds of a cup plus a lot of fluff.

“Pret a Manger - In a moment of frustration, I worked...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by biggerportions on 20/06/2005

Pret a Manger - In a moment of frustration, I worked out that I spend over £6 per day at Pret, or £1,500 per year.

I've vowed to stop. The problem for me is that Pret has declined from a niche, high-quality lunch retailer into a mass market, on-every-street-in-London-and-now-elsewhere sandwich chain outlet.

Not surprising when you learn that they are now owned by McD's -- yes, them of the golden arches!

It has been steadily downhill from there. Expensive, poor service, massive queues in peak hours, a little changing menu, overly chilled food and badly trained staff behind the counter who seen unable to serve fast enough or understand our currency/change.

If you are hungry and buy a sandwich, fruit bowl and a drink you will get little change from £7-8. Seems OTT.

My advice is to find a small friendly independent who tries harder and deserves the £1,500 per annum you are probably spending there per year.
