When visiting the USA from Australia you find your mobile telephone switches networks at will as you travel around. This is very annoying so I usually fix on a network. I have tried fixing on each of them. I have found Verizon by far the best. Obviously. as with all products in the USA, the customer service is terrible if your customer profile is not the norm (which as a visitor for overseas it never is)

Until today I have been a satisfied Verizon customer for over 10 years. My wife had a smart phone with an unlimited data plan. she recently upgraded to an iPhone 5. I went online about a month later to see why our bill went up. Well, comes to find out that Verizon had changed her unlimited data plan to a 2GB data plan. When I called verizon the customer representative i spoke with told me Verizon didnt offer that plan anymore so they automatically gave us the lowest data plan available. When i ask to speak to her supervisor she told me, "fine but he cant change it either" well he told me the same thing, which is BS. The verizon rep at the Niceville FL store, nor, verizon ever told us that our data plan would change just because we upgraded our phones?? Really? i gave the supervisor a chance to upgrade our data plan for the same price or lose my business. well he chose to lose my business. Here I come AT&T!!

After my contract expired, I shopped around for another company with better coverage. I travel alot and was getting dropped calls too often. I asked a few of my buddies and most had said try the verizon. So far so good. I haven't had a dropped call yet.

I had my account on AutoPay and Verizon has been trying to charge me because they falsely claimed that I changed my bank account number, which was preventing my automatic payments from going through. They told me that the only way to solve this was to go to the bank and get a letter from the bank manager and fax it in. I did that and faxed it in, but when the charges were still there two weeks later, I called again. The new CS rep told me that I should have sent the letter to another department. So I went to the bank and did the same thing again. We faxed in the new letter. Same thing happened where Verizon couldnt get its act together and either 1) not lie to customers about them changing their bank accounts so they can charge them $25 extra a month 2) tell all of the CS reps the same procedure for this type of problem and 3) actually deal with the problem
I would not recommend Verizon to anybody that I remotely like. Awful awful awful.

Where I live the service can't hardly be beat. Many great phones for free at www.verizonwireless.com. Unlimitied IN Calling is a great feature along with Unlimited IN Texting for only $10.00 more. They do not warn you if you are going to be charged for something. For example. I downloaded guitar hero, paid the fee and it seemed pretty straight forward. What they didn't tell me is that every time you play a song they charge you data usage at $2.00 a megabyte and it easily added up to $20 plus the fee to buy the game, by the time I figured it out. So, for a few plays I managed to spend $35 on a game. That's kinda ridiculus. Also, the data usage is way too high for a cell phone to access the internet at speeds comparable to Dial-up. All-in-All it's a great value for a phone company just make sure to double check before you use any of your phone's features or you may get burned. I'm very happy with my Verizon Blitz, as is my Grandma with her LG Dare.

Lowest dropped calls I don't think so!! I have had this service for 6 months now and I have had 8 dropped calls already while when I had sprint I had only 3 dropped calls in 6 years!! Sprint is cheaper too!!!

Its' humorous the way that things work. People are not happy with a service, yet they are complacent and do/say nothing about it. Before you know it, you've been with that same company for 7 years.
With that being said, Verizon offers NOTHING that other wireless service providers cannot offer.
Verizon claims to have the best network and least dropped calls, but my cell drops calls all of the time.
If Verizon were serious about it, they would offer some sort of guarantee.
I've noticed that the level of customer service that you receive directly corresponds to whom you talk with at one of their many 800 numbers or at their PACKED full retail stores where you are herded in, made to take a number and have to wait for the rest of the day to get an extremely unenthusiastic person to tell you that you need to buy something else.
Verizon has become too large and has never focused on the core of their business, in my opinion-the customer service aspect.
When there is a dispute, complaint or problem, give the customer a break. That credit towards the customer will return to them 10 fold.
Always measure a company by the people that they hire to speak with their clients in the "customer service" department.
I honestly do not know how sprint or nextel fair next to this corporate beast that is verizon wireless, but I may have to find out.

If you like Sprint or Nextel, you will like Verizon. There is no signal, anywhere. It can get very annoying when you are trying to make a call, and poof! "Hello, hello, HELLO!" Dumb dropped calls. "Your call has been dropped, thank you for using Verizon wireless." They say thank you to calm you down from your dropped call. PAY ME BACK. AND STUFF YOUR SORRY IN A SACK. I will not ever get Verizon again.

Reception of calls is good with Verizon Wireless. But it bills you for extra features like insurance and other services without informing and taking consent of customer.

I feel reception of making and receiving call from Verizon phone is OK. But it has non-transparent policy with a tendency to add extra features in plan without informing the customers. It happened two times with my plan. First they added data service and 2nd time they added handset insurance without informing me and Verizon was billing me for all these. They didn't reimbursed me when I confronted. I am not happy with its policy and I am not going to renew my plan with Verizon.

I've had VZ for years, its the best so far compared to my previous cell phone service. I will continue to use Verizon Wireless for years. Great service coverage, no drop calls. The only time a call gets dropped is when my partners network drops.

It seems that the Verizon Wireless billing isn't always completely accurate. The 'in' network isn't as simple as it sounds. There is never a great selection of phones. If it is a phone with accessories and extras, everything is pricey, and there are definitely never any free features included in service packages. Every time I go into a Verizon store, it takes so long to solve any issues, and usually I get sent to other Verizon stores, and it seems to take longer than necessary. I am currently trying to find a new network, but Verizon is the best at covering almost everywhere I need to make calls, even though it still doesn't reach all areas.

I had Verizon for about five years. I only have had to call them a few times about billing issues. Customer service fixed the issue promptly and to my satisfaction. I lived on Long Island for most my life, and Verizon always had great coverage, except in those areas where for some reason, no signal on any carrier comes through. I moved to Florida a couple of years ago, and I have had the same success with coverage excellent coverage. On all my trips up and down the east coast, I never had to worry about not having service in an emergency. I highly recommend Verizon over other carriers. I had MCI Worldcom and AT&T Wireless throughout the years. Verizon is so much better. AT&T is okay. They have good value plans and service. MCI Worldcom was the worst. Verizon like any company has issues, but I prefer them, even for my home phone service.

Most other providers have a terrific selection of cell phones. Verizon Wireless has a terrible set of choices.

I almost forgot to specify that my Verizon Wireless account is located in VA. Not NY
