dont waste u life here it is more fun chewing on an old tyre. it has no suitable rides for anyone who is older than 4, and I would rather have my arm hacked of by a pickaxe than return to this dumpsite. NEVER EVER EVER waste a minute at this place, and if u have read this than u need a life.

“worst theme park. waiste of money”

★☆☆☆☆

written by express1883 on 08/11/2012

On Thursday October 18th myself and my family 7 in total went along to woodlands theme park, where we paid around 80 pound for the family. We arrived on park and started on what we thought would be a great day out for the family . We were told that there was one attraction on your park closed that day and a few bits of paper saying what times rides were open. We went to the first ride that was open where we found a sign saying " to use this ride please ask a ranger" we then walked around trying to find a ranger. After being on park for 50 min's my children then got to go on a ride. We then went to the next ride that was supposed to be open, where we found the same sign, we then went looking for another ranger. Which is more like wheres Wally as they where nowhere around again. After walking around we found a ranger in a red top, when asked if we could use the rides he just shrugged his shoulders and said " I don't understand I'm putting decorations up for Halloween" . After 2 hrs of being on park we had been on one ride seen 8 signs saying we could only use the ride if we found a ranger and 3 signs saying closed. Pottery place only open on weekends. We then went to the circus train ride and yet again a find a ranger sign, which after another 10 min's I did find someone who then told me " the person has gone to diner and taken the keys for the ride with them so come back in 30mins when they return" So I was now a bit upset about the way customers are being treated. I went to find somebody to talk to, I found a man in a red top again and asked if there was a general manager for the park , he told me " I don't know" then walked away. I found reception and asked to see a manager to speak to. He arrived and said there was rangers around and that the rides where all open, and that it was me not looking for them. I told reception I was not happy and I was going to leave park because now in just under 4 hrs I had paid 80 pound for 1 ride and to walk around looking for rangers that where not there or to busy getting things ready for Halloween the following week ( forget the the customers they have this week). She sent the same manager out again , who told me it out of season and quite what did I expect. Well I expected something on park, if not why was the prices not adjusted to suit or for what was on offer that day it sould be closed completely. He then just thrusted a piece of paper in my hand and said tell them, it was a number for head office, I made a call straight away. Spoke to a lady that said I couldn't speak to anybody that would give me a refund because the manager of the park never had authority and nor did head office, only directors could do this. So I asked to speak to one, I was told no, the only way was write a letter. I was on the phone trying to sort this out a crowd of about 10 people were forming asking if I was talking to head office as they were also disgraced by the park. 80 pound is very expensive for a walk around a park with no rides and loads of litter and rubbish. i sent a email as soon as i got home, this email was ignored , no reply, so i send another saying i was not happy about the way customers were treated and ignored when there was any complaints. as yet still no reply. RUBBISH THEME PARK AND WOULD NOT RECCOMEND TO MY WORST ENEMY.

“I went to woodlands with my family in August 2011 as...”

★★★★☆

written by on 12/09/2011

I went to woodlands with my family in August 2011 as we thought the children would really enjoy. We camped for 2 nights. The adventure park itself was brilliant and the children enjoyed it very much and there was so much to do in all weather conditions. HOWEVER we went to one of the cafe's on the park to get some food, we all had a chicken Pukka Pie and chips. Whilst eating the pie my sister inlaw noticed that she had a massive lump of hair in the middle of her pie (it looked like it has been blocked around a plug for ages). Its was vile. We complained to one of the cafe staff who was very sympatheitc and gave us a refund for the pie of £2 but told us there was nothing else that they could do but if we went to reception they may be able to help us. So off we went to the reception. We spoke to the reception staff who didnt really care what had happened but said they would get a manager. Whilst sitting in the reception waiting for the manager, the reception staff were whispering and staring at us - VERY RUDE. The manager then arrived and was very UN HELPFUL. Her answer was that they do not make the pies and therefore are not responsible for the hair in there. How stupid - yes they dont make the pies but surely there was something that she could have done, ok we have a refund but rightly so, we bought a pie that had a clump of hair in, surley a refund was the least they could offer. Overall a good holiday and lots to do - BUT DO NOT EAT THE PIES.

written by Annandlee on 29/07/2011

Just come back from a 5 night stay. Had a brilliant time! Very clean and loads for kids to see and do. Beautiful places to visit too that were not too far away from site. Individual shower/toilet rooms r great! They have thought of just about everything to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Great value for money and have reserved pitches for next year already!! Definately would recommend

“I have had 15 years of trouble free caravan holidays...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by bentonm on 06/09/2010

I have had 15 years of trouble free caravan holidays at Woodlands Leisure, South Devon until last year and below is a copy of a letter I wrote to Chris Bendell, a Director of Woodlands Leisure, which I have never received a reply and neither will I return, such a disappointment!

Reference:- Document Number 4908

Dear Chris,

I wanted to draw your attention to a series of unfortunate incidents that took place whilst I stayed on your Falcons' Rest pitch last week.

My family and I have been staying at your site, each year, for over 15 years, sometimes twice a year and this year we decided to bring our three grandchildren along for a week's holiday.

We were appalled at the lack of respect by other caravan users on the pitch, in particular the family sited next door to mine. The young children were never supervised and were deliberately kicking and throwing hard balls at other caravans on the pitch.

One evening whilst getting the grandchildren to bed, there was a loud bang on the front of my caravan, when I went to investigate the children who were playing all disappeared and I noticed damage to the front offside of my brand new caravan, and found a piece of rock taken from the edge of the pitch that had been deliberately thrown and was lying on the grass below. I also notice large scratches along the same side of my caravan where hard balls were kicked against it.

I went to talk to the parents of these children and was told in no uncertain terms, that it wasn't their children and they are not responsible for the damage. I then reported this at Reception and duly completed a form.

When I was talking to the wardens at the toilet/showers block they showed me some broken cues from the games room, they were replaced with new ones only the night before!

We were using the family shower room with our grandchildren and noticed that someone had deliberately rammed the end of the floor cleaning scrapper handle into the wall of the shower and smashing a series of holes in the wall. My grandchildren were asking questions about what had happened!

We decided to leave our pitch earlier than planned because we did not want our grandchildren to be exposed to this sort of despicable behavior, nor did I want my caravan subject to any further damage.

The reason for me drawing your attention to these incidents is that it is now time for you to start taking some action against these hooligans and prevent them from entering your site.

My suggestions would be to close the games room at 10.00pm each night, with the exception of bad weather for the campers to take refuge, or to call upon a warden when required to use the room in extreme and rare weather conditions (this was suggested by one of your wardens). Also to ensure that children who use the room are supervised at all times.

I would also suggest that you provide a safe play area for the children of caravans to use for ball games etc, or other throwing/kicking activities, supervised by parents and to ban these activities from the caravan site area, and publish strict rules of conduct, with notices around the pitch area, as does 'The Caravan Club' at their excellently run club sites. This could also be included in your Terms and Conditions that we all have to sign up to.

I am afraid to say that society has changed so much over the last 15 years and the attitude of the minority makes it very uncomfortable for the majority. I think that we should exclude these minority individuals by making it as uncomfortable as possible for them to stay. The time as come to spell it out to them that they are not welcome here and install some respect once again for other sensible users.

I am aware that you are often seen at Woodlands and I am impressed with your hands on approach to your responsibilities and promoting the relaxed family holiday leisure park. But unless Woodlands starts to make some responsible changes to their caravan park, a very small change to make but with a massive impact and would be undoubtedly respected by the majority, I am sorry to say this, but I for one will not be staying at Woodlands ever again.

Yours Sincerely
--------------------------------------------------
Reference:- Document Number 4908 4th January 2010

Dear Chris,

I am both disappointed and surprised that you have now chosen not to bother replying to my letter dated 1st September 2009(attached).

I am now even more appalled of your couldn't care less attitude, which now confirms the lack of respect and responsibility you pay towards your customers. This really surprises me as I held you in better regard than this.

However, please do not expect me to book with you ever again, as I can no longer put up with this sort of attitude and behaviour, I will also be passing on my opinion to others with whom I am in contact with and are frequent visitors to your site. Certainly not to be recommended to anyone!

Yours Sincerely

Had an enjoyable stay at woodlands last week.. Kids loved it so we will be back next year :)
The only thing that spoilt my week was that there was only one disabled shower on the campsite and that was always ocupied by able bodied campers as the sign dont state that disabled only :( so had to wait 20 mins-half hour outside toilet block on crutches...Wish I had been told how hilly the park was before our stay too.
Besides this tho I can only thank you for a fun packed week :) very clean campsite and lovely staff ...see you next year!

“Woodlands is great! ”

★★★★★

written by 257 on 16/05/2010

Woodlands is great!

As a family we have lived nearby for nearly 5 years and we have visited every single one of those years! Theres lots to do, a massive indoor play area, fun waterslides, a swinging ship, rock n roll tug boat, a drop ride, farm and a really creepy maze. The park could do with a bit more for the teenagers but caters for everyone else perfectly!

great day our all ages children parents and grandparents.

In the large indoor play area the advertised lockers were a disaster most were broken, and not big enough, the change machine did not give 20 pence pieces needed, once you went back to put something in you had to put more money in,come on woodlands less money on other projects and a little more attention to detail, the childrens village needs a complete overall it looks tatty and this is before the season starts.

“Woodlands leisure park , fantastic value for money!...”

written by fiz4 on 22/06/2009

Woodlands leisure park , fantastic value for money! The rangers and wardens were extremely friendly and helpful, showed us to our pitch and made sure we settled in well, as well as calling round each day to ensure everything was alright.
Plenty to do on site for our family of 6 ( aged 3 -32) with the lesuire park in the daytime and the games rooms in the evening for the older children.
We have had a great time and are booking to go back very soon!

written by slayer130 on 16/08/2008

The park itself is set in great surroundings, and we found the parking easy and well managed.

My wife being disabled did not realise just how much up hill and down dale there was until we got there. If you had a motorised buggy you will be fine, but if you are in a wheel chair then you may have problems. The rides the kids loved, however the staff appeared sometimes more interested in each other then the customers, which to be honest I think really needs to be looked upon.

A good day out but watch out for the hills and not in my humble view suitable for people in wheel chairs!

“Woodlands is a great place to have fun, explore,...”

★★★★★

written by on 09/08/2008

Woodlands is a great place to have fun, explore, enjoy, or just relax. I loved every minute there and I will be visiting again next year, it is an amazing day out for the whole family. If you have younger children aged 2 or 3 there are not many suitable rides for them as for most of the rides you have to be a minimum height of 80cm. Woodlands is a great day out.

written by shockking on 11/10/2006

In their defence, they said that they keep the parc open later to allow people longer to queue, how thoughtful! We were sent complimentary tickets as compensation, which we returned to Woodland Leisure Park as we do not know anyone who we dislike enough to inflict a similar day out on, and we wouldn't go again if you paid us. All that is required to sort their problems out is a simple restriction on visitor numbers for any one day.

Woodlands's Response to shockking's Review

Written on: 31/05/2007

We would like to state that we feel shockking's review is unfair, we have many letters and emails from visitors who have had very enjoyable days spent at Woodlands. For 2007 the entry price for 2 adults and 2 children is £37.20. Ride queues have signs showing queuing time, it does get busy in peak season but we have 60 acres of indoor and outdoor attractions so there is always something else on offer.

“Woodlands Leisure Park (Dartmouth) is a delightful...”

★★★★★

written by tomcroucher on 19/04/2006

Woodlands Leisure Park (Dartmouth) is a delightful Country park near Totnes, Devon. It is sometimes a struggle to find, and new visitors should take directions. The second you drive into Woodlands, you know what sort of a day it is going to be. Lush trees, beautiful animals prance around the road like it wasn't even there! Adults & Children are both £8.75 to get in. Make sure you collect a map, you're going to need it!

Immediately on the left is the 'Largest Indoor Venture Centre in the UK'. This is perfect when it rains, and it has the biggest climbing frame I have ever seen. Inside is obviously the climbing frame, The Trauma Tower (descending tower), and many children's rides and activities. There is a full restaurant inside, and it has very good food! In the park, the rides fit in very well with the surroundings.

If you walk down from the indoor area, you will come across 'Master Blaster', which is a fun 'gun' game where you can shoot foam balls at opposing friends or other guns. Around this area are also a 'Death Slide' (undercover) area and another cafe.

Going right from there, you come across last year's new attraction, Avalanche. It looks like the attraction next to it, Arctic Gliders. This is a bob-sleigh ride where you shoot down on toboggans down a slippery slope while being squirted by moving water sprinklers. But Avalanche is not what it seems. You zoom down the metal frame like a rocket, and you think you are going to flip over!

Moving upwards, you come across many small attractions, such as a climbing frame and mini go-karts. Then you come across my favourite attraction(s), the slides and toboggan run!

Woodlands have 3 water flumes, one dark, one bumpy and another twisty. They are all very fun, BUT can accumulate massive queues if busy (up to 2 hours). The toboggan run is really fun, and any queue moves very quickly. You can get spectacular views on the ride, as well as much enjoyment! Also, there is a small 'bear town' for small children, another restaurant and a few drinks machines.

Moving right from there is the 'Tango' slide zone. This is tucked away, but don't miss it (you will the see the different coloured slides). Then, another small children's play area, and finally, bumper boats and a lovely lake.

Phew! That's a lot in a day, and a lot of walking. Do bring lots of drinks, as you will get hot walking around. You may wish to bring a picnic, as there are many opportunities to eat through the day.

Woodlands Leisure Park is a fun day out for all ages.
