Other Car Checks Give Much More Information For Cheaper

I purchased the 5 checks for around £28, I used it on a car and it gave no relevant details regarding mileage of the car or mot checks or tax valid etc. Other sites had been giving this information for free about the car I was inspecting. I recommend you saving money and doing it somewhere else.

There are a lot of sections but most of the information wasn't filled in, it did give if the car had colour changes or had been reported in any way such as hit etc.

I Purchased A Car Data Check Through The Aa's Webs

I purchased a car data check through The AA's website. All very simple reading through the application, encouraging you NOT to buy a car without first doing a check. Every page encourages to continue and pointing outthe perils if you dont purchase a check.I obtained the VIN number, Reg number and entered the details. The report claims to check police computers, whether car is high risk of fraud or theft, whether outstanding finance, whether a right off. My report came back and verified what the seller had previously told me. I was nervous about buying the car so I organised a mechanic to view the vehicle and confidently armed with a positive HPI, having completed all those checks on police computers etc and with a 2 year guarantee of up to £30k, I set off to purchase the car. We checked the details of the HPI with the car ie VIN number etc, it all A long story short, the vehicle turned out to be a cloned vehicle. When I was 'inter viewed' by the police, turns out the gang were under surveilance but this car slipped through BUT a marker was on the police computer. I contacted The AA who swiftly guided me to Motorfile Ltd who licence the service from The AA and who turn out to be Experian. The long and short of this is, if I had not had a positive car data report via The AA Motorfile, Experian, it is an area of doubt as to whether I would have had the confidence to purchase. When I contacted, The AA they couldnt wait to shunt me off to Motorfile, who said, less than politely 'tough' it's in the small print of our terms and conditions - no come back on cloned cars. I explained that it may not be that simple as there was a marker on the police computer. The response was WRONG police computer. I asked, but isnt this car at high risk of fraud or theft. No, nothing to do with it was the response. Just want to make other purchasers of car data checks aware - do not be fooled, it isnt a safeguard and in fact, like in my case, it only serves to assist the criminals. If you are looking for a car data check, read the small print. I am lead to believe there is only one company which guarantee against cloning and they work closely with the police, you can read the attached article http://www.motor-trade-insider.com/index.php/2009/09/hpi-joins-forces-with-police-over-car-cloning/

The Aa Car Data Check Gave Very Clear And Concise

The AA Car data check gave very clear and concise explanation of what they do and the peace of mind they give you with their indemnity. Compared to other services I've used (e.g. HPI, Carwatch), they appear to really "know their stuff". When a problem occurred (there was outstanding finance on the car), it was all explained very simply, was thoroughly investigated and saved me from potentially losing thousands.
