I have been trying to set up a new business account with HSBC for the last 2 months! Comedy of errors and lost documents, repeated requests for information, broken promises 'yes it will definitely be opened by cob today' and long waits on the Helpline?? trying to sort it out. “Where are you?”

Applied for a business bank account 3 weeks ago. Haven't heard anything from the bank. Tried calling 6 days running. No one has ever answered the phone - waited over 30 minutes listening to terrible music before giving up. Seems to be no way of getting hold of business banking support. “Hopeless, arrogant and unhelpful”

Have had a Business Account with HSBC for 3 yrs; a decision I regret. Numerous problems, but latest was that they apparently had an udelivered letter returned to them (I have lived at my address for 20 yrs) and as a result they locked down my account. I have phoned them today and passed all the secutiy checks etc which they are happy with, but when attempting to unlock my account, HSBC have 'lost' my photo ID and state that without this they cannot enable my account. If you want to open a business account, the method of doing so depends who you speak to when you phone or have online chat. I want a Community Account for a place of worship. Made an appointment, and then was told to apply online. the online tab for community accounts sends you to a phone number, there's no way to start applying online. Phone operator told me that places of worship can only apply by interview, branch specialist says to apply online, just going round and round in circles… Read Full Review

Suckered in by their adverts and apparent speed of opening an account I started the process. Heard nothing back at all which was alarming because I had clients I needed to invoice but couldn't without bank details. I got no response and logging in was impossible because the security info I gave them that I know was correct wasn't accepted and my account was frozen. “Quick turnaround application process”

I read the reviews for the HSBC Business Account on here. And, I have to say that I was worried. I carried out extensive research. None of the business account offers 'leaped' at me. I chose HSBC (with 18 months free banking) in the end. Purely as I have a personal account. The application process is LONG. Top tip: make sure you have your documents and numbers ready. “Shockingly inept”

Attempts to create business account were a nightmare. Head office say one thing, branch say another and some arrogant upstart being funny and doubting what I say and told him to stop being funny or else!. Told them that if they are like this now, god knows what that lot will be like if I actually had an account. Told them to shove it where the sun don't shine. Business banking customer. I made an international payment of £1100 for goods and their fraud team stopped my payment and asked me the date of birth and passport number etc of my supplier ( all confidential details about him) I provided that money released. June 2011 - 1st Business account opened some years ago, took 1 hour in branch. September 2013 - 2nd account opened on the phone (new business), took over 8 weeks. no explanation given. January 2014 - 3rd account opened (another new business) and still waiting. Currently 5 visits with ID into branches (seems the regular staff just take a copy, but don't bother to upload onto the system so business account opening can't see it).
