Think again if you are going to visit in a motor home, as there are only a few places to fill up your water tank. When we filled up we had to block an access road which of course is not popular. Each time you wish to refill your tank you will have to move your Motor Home to the tap - very inconvenient! Quality of food is poor, if it rains, seating to eat a meal in the facilities is very limited. Visited when the Jubillee concert was on and was treated to multiple 240 volt mains power cuts. Motor homes and caravans all mixed in together with tents, as opposed to designated areas. Don't think we will go there again, although the beach is nice. Don't try to complain on Facebook they immediatley delete anything remotely neutral or negative and say they will only correspond 1 to 1, which they then ignore.

I have been coming to Freshwater Caravan Park since I was of the age of 13 which is 23 years ago and I have returned year after year, the park is very family orientated and not commercialised at all, the beach is not safe to swim in because of the bad undercurrent so there is plenty of signs warning that there is no swimming, although there is plenty of opportunities to swim in either the outdoor swimming pool or in the new complex. I have stayed in the static caravan, which was very clean and I have also camped many times the 3 shower/toilet blocks are always kept very clean. It can get busy during school holidays but so can anywhere and if you are not happy with your pitch you have got the opportunity to change if there are others available, that is what we done, there was a slight dip in our pitch so we asked to change, so they gave us a choice of alternate pitches, with a smile. Would really recommend here if you like a good traditional holiday.

Having just come back from 7 days in a Super Deluxe Caravan I can safely say I would not return to the site again. The caravan itself was lovely, spacious, clean and could not fault it. I do think people need to be made more aware of the dangers of the beach. The sea is hazerdous, the waves crash into the beach and being shingle, it takes your feet aware. The rip current and drop is very dangerous. I would not let my child even paddle in the water without holding my hand. Even dog owners were not allowing their dogs to swim in the sea. The entertainment was rubbish, tired and outdated. The new Leisure complex is not yet finished (2nd - 9th July 2011), although does look very nice. Diggers on site, tradesmens vans parked all in the carpark. The outside swimming pool was freezing cold, no where to sit to watch kids playing but the grass. What about a few chairs, loungers please!!!! Overall, overpriced for what is available. Chose not to stay on site apart from to sleep.

We hired a super deluxe static caravan on the beach for a week and it was a great holiday. Freshwater Beach is a nice clean, friendly site with facilities for tourers and camping as well. My parents took their tourer and were very happy with the pitch size and very clean toilets etc. It's a little more than other sites in the area but the location makes it worth it. I would recommend this site to anyone! Book in advance to get a pitch or caravan in a good place, some static caravans are on the main drag going into campsite and would not be suitable for small kids.

We went to Freshwater beach holiday park with our 6 man tent in august 2010,The pitches were a very generous size, facilities were excellent, everywhere (Ground's,washing up/toilet's/and shower's) were immaculate.
Our children were 5 and 12 at the time and both had plenty to do and see there and round about, and as adult's so did we.
we are just looking at the minute to book for this year.
An extremly family friendly campsite with brilliant ammenities.

NEVER AGAIN. We had a family camping holiday at this park in August last year. Site far too over crowded, loads of sloping pitches, numerous rowdy late disturbed nights (no staff checking the polite rules are being observed so everyone can enjoy their stay!). The "private beach" is private due to it being unusable/dangerous, massive waves with deep drop-off making it a no-swim zone! Trying to end on a good note, the toilet blocks and shop were good. Although, dreaded going back to camp each evening.

Just returned from a one night stay at Freshwater Beach Holiday Park in Dorset. Great facilities but overpriced for an out of season overnight at £24.00 and we were less than enthusiastic about the attitude of the staff member we spoke to on the morning of departure who was, frankly, rude out of all proportion to the situation she was dealing with. We had arrived at 6pm the night before in a motorhome and explained that we only wanted one night and would like a quiet pitch if possible. As the site was nearly empty, this seemed a reasonable request. The staff in the office were helpful but we ended being allocated a pitch next to two small children who were playing ball games and a yapping dog. Nothing against children or dogs but not quiet and given there were dozens and dozens of empty pitches we weren't happy. We asked to move which wasn't a problem but ended on a very sloping pitch on a corner. By this time it was 7pm and we couldn't be bothered to go back to the office again so we pulled forward on to the pitch in front which was flatter. We were up and ready to leave a 9.30 - departure time is 10.00 - when a member of staff came round to check the passes - which have to be displayed. I explained that we had moved because the pitch we had been allocated was too uneven but she was insistent that we should have gone back to the office because 'someone might arrived who had been given that space' and that we weren't on the left hand side of the pitch. Sorry, but at this time of year that was just plain silly and her attitude was disproportionate to the offence. Real shame, because it's a great spot and the showers etc are good but that has put us off from making a return visit.

We spent a week at Freshwater Holiday Park from 14th to 21st August and plan to return, great site, showers and toilets are excellent, 3 blocks to choose from they were clean and spotless as was the whole site. This was a great base to go exploring, close to Weymouth, Lyme Regs, Lulworth and Durdle Dor, Swanage and even Yeovilton, witin waliking distance via cliff tops or across the beach to West Bay. Lovely private beach within 5 minutes walk and great pub about 15 minutes up the road in Burton Bradstock (The Three Horsehoes) lovely food served. Shop reasonably priced and well stocked. Pitches were a good size plenty of room for Caravan,Awning and car or tent and car. We didn't have kids with us this time but may take them next time great for the under 10's not so sure about older kids though, bar prices cheap, can't comment on food as we didn't eat in the restaurants provided. The new facilities next year will be an addded bonus.

Spend 4 nights ,5 days at freshwater, our stay was ok except being in the school holiday, I do feel it was very over crowded !!!! We had no problems where we were on row R. We have a motorhome which we do go out and about in, but did feel there was not alot of room to get in and out. Plus side close to the beach and a 15-20 minute walk to Westbay, which is lovely.

I have just come back from my second two week stint at Freshwater and I have enjoyed every minute of it! The camp is clean and tidy and the toilet/washing facilities are second to none. The club house is a little dated but the staff are always friendly and helpful but the evening entertainment is straight out of the 1970's so if you like things a little more modern this won't be for you. However, the under twelves in our party absolutely loved the kids entertainment and 'Flopper' will live long in their memories! It's true that the beach is not safe for swimming but the small river that runs into the sea is and plenty of kids played in there all day. A better beach can be found at Burton Bradstock which is easily reached via a footpath from Freshwater. All in all, thoroughly recommended

The toilets are clean, the park is VERY crowded. The beach is unusable, a massive shingle bank keeps the water from the sea flooding the camp and its all shingle with fierce menacing waves. We got soaked having to wash up the dishes outside or alternatively get soaked on the trek to an under cover washing up area. The dog walking field had horses and donkeys in it and there were stiles to get out of the camp to other walks which made it very difficult for large dogs and people who werent young and agile to get through/over them. All in all I wouldnt rate this park as much good to be honest.
It seemed to me that the constant donkey and pony rides, inflatables that you had to pay for all contributed to the money making company that this place really is.
To end on a positive note, my daughter enjoyed the swimming pool.

This was quite simply the worst holiday park we have ever visited. The bar was highly overpriced, the staff were poorly trained and the quality of service was generally inadequate. The kids club was awful, the pool was overcrowded, and when me and my wife ordered food from the restaurant we were kept waiting for 1.5 hours!
On the plus side the area was full of things to see and do, but I would greatly advise a different park

My family and i stayed at freshwater bay in august
we thought the park was absolutely wonderfull ,it was very clean ,very nicely laid out ,the pools were excellent ,we shall certainly go back next year
The only downfall was the caravan that i booked privately was not too my satisfaction ,it was not very clean ,so make sure you book through the holiday park ,dont book from adverts in the newspaper .

August 2009. Stayed at Freshwater Beach Holiday Park for 1 week with friends for the first time . The cleanliness of showers and toilets were second to none, the cleanest i have ever seen. The entertainer and all the staff at the stables very friendly and funny. Touring pitches are very spacious. I would recommend this site to families with younger children, not teens. The entertainment needs to be updated and more daytime activities to be introduced. Will return again but not with the teens.
