“Worst company ever ”

★★☆☆☆

written by RashadCoffey289 on 25/03/2024

They will not pay you out but find a excuse, they simply stated that accident never happened and that I made it all up. Even after showing evidence.

“Terrible company”

★☆☆☆☆

written by HezekiahAbbott on 02/09/2023

10 plus year's no claims.5 claims in 5 years all of which are non fault claims as other drivers hit my car, twice I wasn't even in my car, once I was in a car park sitting in my parked car with my engine off a lady hit me,next one hit up my rear while at a junction. Lastly hit by a driver who didn't stop at at junction while I was driving along a main Rd,result privilege have now advised me I'm a risk and will not renew my policy, what about the people that hit me they all get off lightly and seems I now can't get insurance unless I pay an exorbitant amount of money because a lot of the insurance companies are owned by the same company, what a disgraceful company they are

“Give up your car altogether, before signing off up to them”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 121Goode on 09/01/2023

Trustpilot reviews Trustpilot Thanks for your review! You reviewed Privilege Add photo Truth Speaker 11 reviews GB Rated 1 out of 5 stars Absolutely the worst company I've ever… Absolutely the worst company I've ever dealt with in any field, let alone insurance. 16 months after an accident where I was hid by a drunk driver, who literally ran fir the hills abandoning her car and blocking the road completely for 3 hours. The police said there was no way it was my fault, and ii had an independent witness who stated she was staggering, smelled of spirits and accepted full liability, and that markings on the road showed that she had lost control, veered up and bank before rebounding across the road and Headon hitting the rear quarter of my car so hard her airbag deployed. There is no way I could have hit the front of here car with the side of mine, but privilege recorded it as my fault, took over a year to contact the police and 16 months down the line are now trying to claim that they can't get hold of the witness and the police have no record of the accident, despite the witness assuring me that he has spoken with them, and my having provided photographs, video, witness contact details, and the incident report together with the police officers names and numbers. Never, ever use this company. I will regret it for the rest of my life. The only way forward for me is the ombudsman, the media, and the BBC who I am already speaking to.

“Terrible Support”

★☆☆☆☆

written by markhen001 on 07/10/2022

I cannot recommend strongly enough that people avoid this company for their car insurance. I recently had my car taken and the subsequent performance from Privilege took a difficult situation and made it a good deal worse. They push you to their online portal which is extremely poor in terms of functionality. Therefore, you are forced to phone them. The phone support is disjointed (you can never speak to the same person twice), requires holding for up to 40 minutes and consequently ends up taking a lot of time and effort. The advice is also inconsistent and frequently contradictory. At this point, over a three-week period, I am some 21 calls and many hours into trying to sort my situation out. This evening, even though Privilege have not reached the end of their process, I have been notified that my car hire plus arrangement has been terminated - precisely at time when they cannot be contacted because they are closed. Please do not use these people - they are terrible when things go wrong which I think, ultimately, is the role and purpose of an insurance company.

“please do not use them”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Kissy1921 on 01/02/2022

NAME & SHAME time...... please don't use this company Boxing day 29th December, smashed windscreen............... Insurance company say to book online with their window company Autoglass. Autoglass unable to come out until 10th January, almost 2 WEEKS!! Car not safe to drive, what are you supposed to do and how can you get to work? We paid £600 to get it fixed the same day, now Privilege are refusing to pay out!!! Fully comprehensive insurance yet they will not cover it, they prefer to leave a car at the side of the road for 2 weeks, or on your drive if you can get it home with a smashed windscreen, which by the way says in their small print that if a vehicles windows are damaged you are not covered for theft etc!! Time for the ombudsman!!!

“Underhanded,. bad profit ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by gilesc on 06/01/2022

Cheeky, underhanded bad profit making!! I was with them for a year, I purchased through a price comparison site. They automatically renewed my policy, even though I didn't want them to and had got insurance elsewhere. I called them immediately after the weekend and bank holiday which they were closed and they agreed to refund me in full as I obviously didn't need the policy and to my mind should not have been renewed. I then get the letter through and they have charged me £5.12 for the time insured which I never wanted and didn't use. This is a very good example of a company that will make short-term profit from you, I would recommend you go elsewhere if this is how they see customers. Very disappointed, you have lost my future business, all over a fiver!!

“Extremely frustrated.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Dumas99999 on 21/06/2021

Extremely frustrated. I did a claim and then (next day) cancelled it. Despite the cancellation they left a record about the claim in the global database. When I've arrange a new car insurance with another provider, suddenly I was questioned about my "no claim" history. It was resolved, and I was advised to ask privilege to remove this non existing never happened claim from the database. Sent 3 emails to privilege - all were ignored, but read! Good treatment of your customers! Thank you! I'll never do car insurance with them again...

“Do not use”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Emersonl333 on 12/02/2019

This company can not update policies with endorsements. Even after 2 letters and 5 phone calls. I can only presume it is policy, so that any claims can be requested. Difficult systems and next to no customer service. Policy not worth the paper it's written on.

“think again about privlege”

★☆☆☆☆

written by HarperMacLean345 on 07/08/2018

had a car written off. brought another one same year lower spec (original car a sport) new car same year and model but lower spec got charged an extra £44 because it was a higher risk according to them, accident was a non fault claim and it took us three phone calls as they initially said the extra £44 was because the other side had not admitted liability, they admitted liability to me in 24hours of the accident by phone, text and email. awful customer service made to feel that we were in the wrong and had to chase them for answers ( different answer depending on who you spoke too). final answer from them was you have no choice and cant cancel insurance as you won't get refund and have to pay £44.

“INEFFICIENT !!!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Alexisa34 on 30/05/2017

My car renewal was due this month , 37% increase ,I questioned this and was told live in a bad claims area which is the same area when I took the policy out , and that tax had gone up. Ok next question , why does the model of my car not fit with the registration number , ANSWER MY ERROR yet it shows correct on the original application. And when they entered my registration in the system it showed it was correct. Then asked for revised renewal quote this came back at another £80 more making the increase nearly 43% on last year then told they wont insure me because my car had no tracker fitted , this was not on the original application or mentioned in the renewal . Concerned I asked then if ny car had been stolen would they have paid out , Answer not sure because I should have had a tracker fitted !!! but they might honour the claim . Told them not happy and told someone would call be back , yes they did and told me they will not insure me unless I have a tracker fitted Cost £499 plus £150 per year. car worth about £30,000.this would have meant a cost to me of over £1100 to insure the same car. Got quote good company £409 not tracker required. To put icing on cake I queried the excess and this had been increased by another £100 as I had speeding fine 3 years ago , this was not on the renewal documents either. Rep was astounded at the errors , no fault to him

“Worst customer service I have ever encouter”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Irisy42 on 18/05/2017

Rang today 18/05/2017 4pm to transfer my policy to a new vehicle. The customer service guy was extremely rude and disrespectful. He belittled you and deliberately talking in a way that you could hardly follow. I still couldn't believe it happened in this industry. Shame on you. His attitude changed slightly when being asked his name. Although I don't believe he was giving me his true name

“Windsren claim not settled in 2 months”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Angeline115 on 04/02/2017

Simple - windscreen chip - still not settled after 2 months, I got the claim agreed with number got the work done but I can't get paid. I've phoned 3 times, emailed 4 times and now I'm up to "the cheques in the post should be with you in 10 days". I don't believ it - I've been put on hold for 10 mins, transferred lots of times - even when I've been given a phone number to call. Of course its a premium rate number- its business model must be premium calls rather than motor insurance.

written by punter25a on 30/01/2017

following damage to my car by a 3rd party, the car was picked up on the 18th Jan. 8 days later I called the repairer for an update - the car had not been delivered to them. I called privilege last Thursday, Friday and today. they still cant find my car, no calls from their customer service despite my requests. do not use this company. appalling internal process, appalling customer service.

My son was in an accident which we thought was a 50/50 claim on a country lane. However, our Privilege car insurance company have decided it was our sons fault and will not fight our case. Is there anything we can do to contest their decision?

I had a nightmare with Privilege myself. They are a disgraceful company. 50/50 is industry norm if both parties fail to agree. Unless there was an independent witness whose statement confirms what the other party claims, this is the likely outcome. Remember that neither party can use the witness statements from passengers, as they are directly involved. If there are no independent witnesses, Privilege are just attempting to bully you into conceding. Don't. I trust that you have legal protection with your insurance? Assert to your legal representation that this is a straightforward 50/50 and maintain this. If you have none, it is possible to do this yourself. Be prepared to go to court with this. Although this is hugely unlikely to happen. Mine was settled in full before it reached this stage. I felt like giving up many times. It is the claim handlers' role to minimalise the pay out their company is forced to make. Do NOT. There is a lot more at stake here than just an excess. No claims bonus and future increased policy amounts. Good luck. As I said, don't allow this horrible company to bully you into accepting what they consider to be reasonable.
