I took car insurance out with Sainsburys I received no documents I had to phone them to send them to me when I got them some of my details had been put down incorrect by the adviser I corrected them and had to pay a extra cost I sais to them why should I pay extra when it was there mistake and was told I could cancel my insurance if I dident want to pay the extra but I took it out a month ago but just receive the documents and would probally have had to pay a fee d so paid the extra cost… Read Full Review

“Utter incompetence!”

I have been insured with Sainsbury’s underwritten by Zenith for two years. The first year was great, they were pretty cheap and everything was handled online. The acid test of any insurer is when things go wrong! In June this year I was unfortunate to be hit by a HGV on the M6 after it drifted into my lane. Sainsbury didnt even try to pursue claim when the other lying driver thought he could get away with not admitting liability. I had insurance with these paid on time every month then when it comes to transferring from my old car to a new car they refused to do so then when cancelling policy wanting me to pay a fee yet can't do one thing I asked for! “took out recovery cover with my insurance”

Been with Sainsbury Insurance for 3 years and have always had the recovery cover offered by them. It is Green Flag but they are covered via Sainsbury. Never had to use any of it until today. Car broke down on way home from work, rang Sainsbury, told there was a 10 minute wait to speak to an operator and they would call back. Received on 1/11 letters dates 25/9, ,2/10, 14/10, 20/10 all together to let me know first that they need more documents, second to remind me of documents, third to advise me they were cancelling my policy and fourth to advise me they had cancelled my policy. So I’ve been driving the country for the past 2 weeks completely oblivious to the fact I’ve had no car insurance because it apparently takes them 6 weeks to get a letter to me. The price seemed too good to be true on the comparison site and it was! “Rude and can't get their paper work together!”

I wrote off my car in February and it has only just compleated due to loosing my claim paperwork!( now 10th May!) I was not given a company car luckily I borrowed my dad's car. They tried to make their money back by quoting me 1600 to renew, however I found it elsewhere for 659! “Horrendous ”

The initial process was fine. Two months later we get a letter saying something is wrong and the only way to contact them is by phone, otherwise in 10 days our insurance will be cancelled. After this I got worried, so I called them. It took me four days to get a person on the phone, and after this things just got worse. “Awful Customer service ”

I had my car insurance there for over 3 years and I cancelled my policy as I found cheaper elsewhere. When I called up they were nothing but rude and 2 months later I had debt collection agency at my door with no previous letters saying i owed money. Sainsburys had sent all letters to my old address and then did nothing about it and I ended up paying over 1000 pound to a dept collection agency. Absolute disgrace… Read Full Review

“Middle of the road..”

Used them for the past 4 years but renewal cost has now suddenly increased by £150 and they won't come anywhere close to price matching. Also slightly miffed that they charged me £26 when I changed my car despite there being less than 2 months remaining on the policy. “Cancelled policy”

Insured with Sainsburys, Started new job away from home staying in a hotel 4 nights of the week. So being astute and honest rang them to inform them car would be kept 4 nights of the week away from home address as had been initially disclosed on proposal. I took out a policy from Sainsbury's in May because i had a break down some 18 months ago i could not remember how i last insured with...and i had no car for the last 18 months the only evidence i had that i had 10 year no claims was with Tesco car insurance with Sainsbury would not accept the sort is sainsbury have canceled all my no claims and reset to 0 so will pay many hundreds of pounds more each year my premium have gone from about £500 to over £1400 a year because of my break… Read Full Review

“Broken Promises and Awful Care”

The whole process of making a claim has been a waste of both many hours, phone calls and breath. My car was stolen and the police have pretty much given up recovery of the vehicle. My advice is do not use Sainsbury's Bank car insurance. 11 months after my car was hit by a dustbin, the case is still not resolved and Sainsbury's have not progressed the case with the third party any further than I managed myself. “Check their selected Repairer - DO NOT USE UK ASSISTANCE”

A left hand drive lorry hit my car on the M25 in December last year. No one was hurt but there was quite a lot of damage to passenger side of my car. Sainsbury's insurance arranged for my car to be collected and repaired by their designated repair agent, UK Assistance in Birmingham. I fully sympathise with you, I am in a similar position with the same insurer. I was told to go to UK Assistance, but when I checked reviews online decided not and chose an authorised repairer for my car.
But the repair was incomplete – repairer says they weren’t given full authorisation to do work - go back to insurance company and now Sainsburys car Insurance can’t help cos I chose my own repairer and refuse to get involved – go back to repairer. Caught in the middle, fault wasn’t even mine, got hit from behind. How can this be fair?
What I have learn here is, if chose from any of the comparison sites for insurance, most of the ones on the first page are more than likely unwritten by UK Insurance (which was something to do with DirectLine), so whether insurance is with Sainsburys or Halifax or whoever it’s all the same company.

Regret using them, shat customer service and shat overall service. Found them to be a waste of time. I definately won't use them again when my renewal due end of year.
