Got a quote from compare the market...included with the quote was for a replacement car..only once I paid i was told i would get a replacement car ONLY IF THEY HAD ONE...AND IT WOULD COST MORE IF I WANTED TO MAKE SURE I DID.......phoned them back to cancel only to be told it would cost me £38 to do so...what a bunch of con's...I've sent a compliant email to compare the market...and if they don't take this up with budget...I will be taking this further… Read Full Review

“Shocking hike in price then exorbitant cancellation fee”

Had insurance for 3 days and was informed my policy would increase by £30 a month based on an entry on the CUE database which is not supposed to be used for underwriting purposes anyway. Decided to go with a cheaper insurer and was charged a ridiculous £50 cancellation fee after having policy for 3 days. Will never ever go near them again. Stay well clear folks… Read Full Review

You might want to speak with your complaints dept who have failed to respond to two emails.
Also, will you be able to refund the cancellation fee which, in terms of the contract, appears to be a penalty for cancellation within the colling off period.

Further to this, having checked the contract, it states that if you are within the 14 day cooling off period, you will only have to pay for the insurance that you have used.
The cancellation fee doesn't come into effect until after the cooling off period.

I signed up then my documents were emailed whist were all wrong I went back and double checked I had input all correct details that were some how changed on my docs I rang them less than 24 hours later to be given a higher price told them to cancel the policy which wasn’t due to start for another 4 days they charged me £25 cancellation fee no cooling off period or nothing total rip off… Read Full Review

“Misleading??”

I signed up for this insurance yesterday and I’m seriously considering cancelling as I’ve now reviewed the policy online and I filled in the details through moneysavingexpert only to now see that for some reason when I did fill in the details they have been changed at some point?? Now says I’m unemployed due to disability which is NOT what I chose within the options and checked before I actually purchased the policy all was correct and now it seems it it not??? I performed a price comparison on GoCompare. Budget, and their subsidiary DialDirect, came out top, £164, fully comp for 1 year. For the car I was insuring, this was perfect. I clicked the link to go to Budgets web site where the price was confirmed, £164.58. I went through and deselected all the things I did not want, breakdown, courtesy car etc.. We have all that. “Appalling - payments increased without notification”

Signed up to what I thought was reasonable quote and payment plan - extra payment taken from credit card and direct debit payment increased by 4X. My insurance went from around £320 to over £1200. Voice recognition sucks (how zero sound like eight is beyond me) This was done with no notification or reason given. Managed to cancel and they did give me a part refund. I declared everything on the Budget website when applying for insurance but two days later I received an email saying I hadn't completed certain parts of the forms and the price suddenly shot through the roof. I immediately cancelled my direct debit with Budget and looked elsewhere for insurance cover. On the 8th of Oct I took out car insurance with Budget and realised when I read the confirmation e mail that I had put the start date as the 31st Oct instead of the 21st Oct, I rang as soon as I realised today and was told it would cost over £80 to alter it...I mean change a 3 to a 2... so I cancelled the policy I was told my payment of £314.24 would take up to EIGHT days to go back into my account I agreed and said I would redo it on line . Basically I got given at quote off budget of £24 p/m and went through with it. After reviewing the payments once all was done I seen that they had changed the price quiet considerably to £34 p/m which is absolutely unbelievable. The price varies to what you add to the quote, i was able to vary quote to my specifications and got the cover and price i wanted to pay, it wasn't rocket science.

Went with a competitive quote from Budget for an 03 plate Renault Clio (£78 to begin with that increased to £95 plus with 'extras'). OK, I thought until we changed vehicle 4 days later (to a Peugeot 206 04 plate). £38 for 4 days insurance and cancelling the policy on the Renault and quoted £261.49 to insure the Peugeot (I'm 64 years young, no accidents, no claims etc).
