“My Siemens S40 mobile phone's inbox and outbox is not...”

My Siemens S40 mobile phone's inbox and outbox is not available. Some feautures or functions are not available. Maybe hidden but I can not find it in the manual. Though I have set the ringing tone and message tone when someone calls me there's no sound coming out from the phone.

i bought this mobile phone 'cos it looks nice (stainless steel casing, clear blue backing, blue backlit screen, blue glowing buttons) and it's a triple band phone. feature wise it's pretty standard, no real innovation or obvious disadvantages.

my beef with this phone is the unstable software. after about 3 months of (minimal) use, things started falling apart (software wise). flashing screen, unable to access address book/sim card and eventually refused to turn on all together. also, the rubber buttons oxidises over time ie. lose clearity, micro crack on surface.

in conclusion, the S40 is a immature product. there are plenty of better phones out there in the similar price range.

“I bought this Siemens S40 mobile phone nearly a week...”

★★★☆☆

written by Sam. on 08/07/2002

I bought this Siemens S40 mobile phone nearly a week ago and already i will have to send it back. I read reviews before i bought it and was warned of the software problems that some people encountered. Not all people had problems so i decided to try it. This would be a great phone if only it worked.

I love the dictaphone and the Infrared link and the overall look of the phone is great but after one day it started to freeze. I couldn't enter a lot of the menu and i couldn't even turn the phone off, i had to take the battery out to turn it off, which really isn't good. It then also started to have trouble reading my phone book, it only found two numbers and listed them over and over again....very frustrating.

I am tempted to try again and see if i get one that works, but i'm not sure if it's worth it.

Before buying this phone, keep in mind that it could have problems!!!! BEWARE!! And seriously, take note of reviews by others.

Entirely agree. Avoid this phone. In the UK, if it's out of warranty Siemens will charge you aboout £30 to upgrade the software to what it should have had when you bought it!

“I have had the Siemens S40 mobile phone for 3 and a...”

I have had the Siemens S40 mobile phone for 3 and a half months and it's been a royal pain in the neck. I have never owned a phone that has come close to giving me the problems this one has. I have had it replaced twice (in the space of 2 days) as it freezes and the only way to get it working again is to remove the battery. However my third handset has now gone the way of the other two, it freezes, I take the battery out as normal but then cannot turn it back on. This is in addition to the flaky software problems I have in day to day use. I called Siemens almost 3 weeks ago to arrange for it to be returned for a firmware upgrade (I was told they would pick it up the next day then return it in 5 working days, yeah right), and have now been told they have to send it to Denmark to get it fixed which will take a further 6 weeks. Don't buy this phone, it looks nice, but that's as far as it goes.
