Brand New, Deja Entendu - Brand New are so cool, they rock, especially their song Guernica. I've loved them for about 2 years. They're still my favorite band. I'm waiting for their third album. I love them!!!

First of all, I've heard a couple of Brand New's songs, 'The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot', 'The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows' and 'I Will Play My Game Beneath the Spin Light' but I think I can honestly say goddamn! This band is absolutely awesome.
The lyrics are passionate and emotional, while the guitars are absolutely sensational. Brand New are awesome! Get the CD because, goddamn, it rocks.

Wow...What can I say...Brand New amazed me with their first release ("Your Favorite Weapon") and they have managed to do it again with Deja Entendu. First off, before listening to this I must warn you: YOU CAN NOT BE CLOSE-MINDED ABOUT YOUR MUSICAL TASTE! Yes, it IS different than "Your Favorite Weapon" but after a while, you will realize, the change was for the better. Also...Jesse's lyrics are simply amazing. Now..a run-down of the tracks.
1.Tautou: Hmm..not much to say. A good little intro. A cool little guitar riff leads you into some hushed vocals. Although it only clocks in at 1:42, right away, you know to expect somthing different.
2.Sic Transit Gloria ... Glory Fades: This your more traditional emo/punk song. Heavy distorted guitars and some screaming...not to mention a wicked bass line.
3.I Will Play My Game Beneath The Spin Light: Good song...starts off slower and acoustic but builds.
4.Okay, I Believe You But My Tommy Gun Don't: Starts off with quiet guitar and hushed vocals, but explodes into energy in the chorus. Excellent vocals as well.
5.The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows: Excellent song. It sounds more like the songs off "Your Favorite Weapon" My personal favorite.
6.The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot: Clever title...nice acoustic ballad. I'm pretty sure it is like an apoligy note.
7.Jaws Theme Swimming: This is one of the weaker songs on the album...It has kind of a funk feel to it...some good bass to. (Anyone know what the title means???)
8.Me Vs. Maradona Vs. Elvis: Starts off extremly quiet with very soft vocals, but is rockin' towards the end. Clever lyircs. (Again..Does anyone get the title???)
9.Guernica: This song is about Jesse's grandpa being diagnosed with cancer. Good song...a little more "Your Favorite Weapon-ish" Clever lyrics as well.
10.Good To Know That If I Ever Need Attention All I Have To Do Is Die: This is probably the weakest track on the album. Good lyrics...but in my opinion the song is slow and boring.
11.Play Crack The Sky: Awesome acoustic ballad...The lyrics are a cool metaphore about heartbreak...nice song to finish out with.
So, go out..slap down $10 bucks and buy the album. You won't regret it...it's worth every cent!

Brand New's Deja Entendu is one of the most heartfelt and inspiring albums I've heard in a long time. All the songs are magnificent. My favorites being "The boy who blocked his own shot" as well as "Me vs. Maradona vs. Elvis" - the ending of "The boy who..." rips my heart out - I love this Cd - It is a must have.

Brand New is the best band hands down out today, impressive songs from both CD's and especially this one makes them a band that people can always listen to in every mood. The way Lacey describes every emotional feeling he can think of is incredible, and certain lines from various songs such as "I will lie awake and fake the way I hold you, and let you fall for every empty word I say" or, "Is this, the way a toy feels when its batteries run dry?" and others like "despite everything he learned from his freinds he doesn't feel quite prepared" and last but not least "I've seen what happens to the wicked and proud when they decide to try to take on the thrown for the crown, and we learn as we age, we've learned nothing, and my body still aches, and we take, cuz they give, though I love you, my body it leaks like a seive" These are just some examples of Lacey's work however some would think it more impressive the names of songs on this album such as "Good to know that if I ever need attention all I have to do is die" This album almost sounds like another band from the first Brand New album, Your Favorite Weapon, and on the Brand New website www.brandnewrock.com the band members made remarks saying that making another CD like the first would be cheating their fans, and THAT is what makes them an incredible amazing band.

Brand New are definitley the best band i've heard in a long time. With inspiring words in all the songs, they talk about real life like no other.Suprising first c.d. Off the charts in my books. Possibly the best first c.d. of any band ever.

All in all the Brand New Deja Entendu CD is quality. Brand New goes above and beyond the stereo-typical pop-punk/emo band label. They no longer can be fitted with a genre. The new material is mysterious and melodic with lyrics that may soar over many ignorant listener's heads. The slow pace of the record should not inhibit anyone from giving it a chance
