Sloppy Joe's Family American Bar & Diner, Colchest
Sloppy Joe's Family American Bar & Diner, Colchester should be renamed Sloppy Service! For the third time in the last two years tonight we were forgotten after our dinner plates were taken away and so never even got to see the dessert menu, let another order a dessert! The service is slow, no matter how busy the restaurant is, and the food is totally overpriced for what is essentially oily fast food probably cobbled together in five minutes. I would not recommend Sloppy Joe's to anyone!

Went To Sloppy Joe's Family American Bar & Diner W
Went to Sloppy Joe's Family American Bar & Diner with a friend and his daughter, 8.30 table on a Saturday night. Found the place to be pretty busy but not really buzzing. Service with a smile but seemed very false (they weren't observant enough to notice my friend is blind and drinks etc were placed out of his reach).
Starters were of average quality (standard Nacho's with dip, deep fried king prawns in coating with sweet chilli dip and tex-mex chilli) but all of which were from frozen or a can. My friend had a medium rib-eye steak with salad and a spicy dressing. The steak was med rare! His daughter had a Bolognese but left most of it because it had mushrooms (she can't eat mushrooms) plus she said it tasted funny and I had a chicken and rib combo with fries and coleslaw. The fries and coleslaw were quite nice. The chicken was a grilled, skinless butterfly fillet approx 3.5 inches diameter and in itself, tasteless. The 6 ribs on the other hand were very appetising to look at and covered in a Smokey barbeque sauce which I dived into with relish. Unfortunately they were so fatty that I felt nauseas after eating them and lost my appetite for the rest of the meal. When the waitress came for the plates I mentioned to her there may have been a problem with the ribs being too fatty which put me off my meal and her reply was, "yes, they are a bit like that!!!" and she walked off.
After a brief rest (actually waiting for the waitress) we decided to finish with a small desert (cheese cake, tiramisu and banoffee pie ...all from a carton!) which we had to wait for yet again.
The bill which included one pint of lager, two bottled beers and a couple of diet cokes came to £67.59. We mentioned to the cashier about the problems with the ribs and eventually got a £9.95 refund for that meal. I still felt a bit sick.
Around 2am I woke up and rushed to the bathroom and was violently ill. Could it have been the ribs????
I won't be going back.

I Will Not Be Dining At Sloppy Joe's Family Americ
I will not be dining at Sloppy Joe's Family American Bar & Diner. I was given wrong information regarding prices and all I got told was too bad you'll have to pay the outstanding. I was told £3 per head regarding a children's party of 10 and then told £5 per head when I went to pay. This was clearly their mistake which they seemed to blame me for, I'd never had a children's party here before and I won't be having another one.
