Camp farce written by and starring Nia Vardalos (My Big Fat Greek Wedding).
I can't help thinking this is a bit of a rip off of the classic 'Some like it hot' as the plot is very similar. Two airport cabaret lounge singers (Vardalos and Toni Collette) witness a gangland killing in a car park, the mobsters see them and give chase, the girls attempt to evade them by leaving town for Los Angeles where they find work and somewhere to stay. Their brand of cabaret is unheard of in LA and the only way they can get proper work is to pose as two gay men in drag and work a gay club their party piece being that they can sing live instead of lip sync.
The girls (boys) become a big hit and the club starts to get really popular, an expansion programme takes place and the money starts to roll in. All the time the mob is searching for them and getting ever closer. Meanwhile posing as men posing as women starts to take it's strain on the girls especially as Connie has fallen for David Duchovny who is in the area trying to make amends with his estranged brother - It's all a bit silly and very camp but as ever in hollywood, it all works out in the end. Debbie Reynolds makes a cameo appearance toward the end the film as if it wasn't camp enough already. To sum up, this is an over the top camp farce with a plot that's been done much better in the past.
