“Got an auto-renewal through post for my son's scooter...”

Written on: 13/12/2017 by Portlandsue (1 review written)

Got an auto-renewal through post for my son's scooter which he had sold so rang up to make sure it wasn't auto-renewed. Then I cancelled the present policy because he doesn't have the bike anymore and ended up getting charged £41 even though we had already paid £180 for the whole year's insurance. If I'd just let the insurance run and not told them that the bike had been sold I wouldn't have had to pay a thing. It is just ridiculous!!! I am so angry!!… Read Full Review

“Rip Off Fees”

Written on: 01/08/2017

I also had to give up riding after two months into my policy due to health issues, and sold my bike. Having paid £295 they sent me a cheque for £71 refund. I have returned the cheque, but have received several letters quoting the terms and conditions. No discussion - just a blank refusal to negotiate. Fortunately I never had to claim over the years I have been with them. I wonder what the response would have been given the lack of customer care? Be aware that you will get very little back if… Read Full Review

“Beware the admin charges!”

Written on: 01/02/2017

Been with Carole Nash for a couple of years, just sold bike and had about 4 months left to go on the cover, so was expecting a little back for the remaining term. Rang CN, and cancelled the cover, but instead of them giving me any money back, I ended up having to pay THEM to cancel the cover! Surely there is something not quite right about that. CN charge extortionate charges which apply for any changes, so buyers BEWARE!! If you plan on making any changes in the 12 months of cover, you might… Read Full Review

Why do people ring up up to cancel unaware of what the outcome will be. Why not take Carole Nash to court for not making you aware of what their cancellation rates are as clearly its not stated in their policy documents.
Or maybe they have clearly stated how much they will charge under section 9 titled quite surprisingly cancellation. This in simple english tells you what will be charged if you cancel. In this case between 7 to 8 months after the policy starts you would will get a 10% refund and after 8 months there is no refund. So on a monthly dd policy you would have to pay remaining payments in one go if you cancel after 8 months. Depending on the annual cost this can work out to be quite expensive so if you dont want this sudden expense then simply don't cancel after 8 months and complete the year with the added bonus of getting the years NCD.
But this would mean actually reading the documents provided before you call up instead of acting all surprised on the phone lol

What a disgrace of business they are. They employ you pay you half of your wage. Change pay dates the day before your due to be payed knowing they will ruin Christmas.. n the boss smiles in your face and tells you to deal with this! Then they lay you off the day before your due to be paid nearly 2 months worth of wages and miss inform you your cheque is in the post coming second class! Then you wait a week for your wage in " cheque " to find out you was miss led and it is not in the post and… Read Full Review

“Outrageous Deduction From Fully Paid Policy”

Written on: 17/06/2016 by AmiahDelaney (1 review written)

Have just put the phone down after speaking to Carol Nash Insurance Company. I took out a policy with them on 10/5/2016 for my new Triumph America unfortunately this bike has had a major fault, and the dealer has agreed to give me a full refund. Called the insurance company to inform them of the details and that I would like to cancel this policy and that at present I would not be buying another bike. I was horrified when after only having this policy for just over a month and paying £125.45… Read Full Review

“Beware £50 fee if you leave. Lacking that personal touch.”

Written on: 29/04/2016 by englishlakedistrict (4 reviews written)

I had my HD insured with Carole Nash, when over 10 months into my Policy I bought a newly released bike after checking with them that I could easily switch to the new model - £67 was quoted. However once my new bike was delivered they changed their mind and said the new model bike was uninsurable with the underwriter Highway Insurance (as it was not yet listed with the Assoc of British Insurers) ...only later quoting about triple my previous cost and quadruple the excess with another… Read Full Review

So where do I start, Basically Carole Nash started a new policy on a bike that I already had insured. “I don't like being ripped off ”

Written on: 28/03/2016 by wayne1965 (1 review written)

I have been with CN for years my bike and now my car. I went to cancel my car policy due to selling it and I was charged £50 for the privilege. £50, what a rip off for tapping a few keys. When I asked why it was so much I was told its in the policy and it was a charge to cancel the policy and let the likes of DVLA know. When I asked them if one of the staff was going to put £50 of fuel in their Jag and drive to DVLA to tell them it fell on deaf ears. To that end I will ring about and get… Read Full Review

Thegame316's Response to wayne1965's Review

Written on: 18/08/2016

The cancellation fee is charged as the price you are quoted is based on you being insured for a year. Short term insurance is a much higher risk than annual insurance, if you dont believe this, try to get a quote for say 3 months insurance on your car and you will find it will cost as much as an annual premium.
So in effect the cancellation fee is in place to partially compensate the insurer for providing you with short term insurance based on an annual price. It is also there to deter people from taking out a years insurance where they have no intention of having it for a year.
May seem unfair but it is a contract that you have agreed to and all insurers clearly state their charges on the documents they send out. To be outraged when this is then applied is not right

Written on: 23/03/2016 by PISSEDOFFBIKER (1 review written)

My Insurance has gone up again 3 years on the trot... this company should be looking after old customers instead of passing all the best deals onto new customers...very disappointed in your customer services i have tried to call today and been on the phone for 45 mins and still waiting to be put through to renewals this is unacceptable... i was then told by the customer service that no one was available to talk to me about discounts on policy's.... when i called sales i got an answer within 2… Read Full Review

“misell you policy hidden catches”

Written on: 29/02/2016 by raz1971 (1 review written)

I had paid for my insurance for the full year and then my bike was stolen. Not only had they changed my policy to a £600 excess which I most certainly did not agree to when buying policy over the phone, But my fault for not checking the written documents sent after. But they also said this made my remaining policy void, even though i had paid for the year but then had the cheek to charge me for cancelling it!! Terrible, avoid at all costs!!… Read Full Review

“Very poor service and high cancellation cost”

Written on: 30/01/2016 by Burts (1 review written)

Spoke with the adviser who I found rude, not a very professional tone. I called to cancel my policy part way through as sold my bike, tried telling me I need to pay £350, I was never told about this over the phone when taking policy they just advise you can cancel and to read terms, you should be advised of this key fact. I will be complaining to the FCA... feel mis sold… Read Full Review

“Good All Round”

Written on: 10/01/2016 by KarleeStiles (1 review written)

I've only been on the road for a few months now. I went with Carole Nash because my farther has been with them for over 5 years. Their price was reasonable for a 50cc compared to other companies and it was an English call center. about 2 weeks into my policy, i broke down on the a38 near plymouth. Phoning my farther in distress at 1am in the morning he told me to call carole nash and gave me a phone number. I called them at 1:30am in the morning and they had a recovery there by 2:10am. “Just don't have an accident!”

Written on: 02/11/2015 by Carverhd30 (1 review written)

Hopefully you'll never need to ring them to claim. The worst insurance company there is, following accident I was told my bike would be collected for inspection, and claim would move forward. After searching to find what had happened in regard to my bike, was told they didn't have it and had no idea where it was! Managed to find it (due to own tracker) it was still at accident site 3 weeks later, never assessed or recovered, I recovered bike to my home. I still have no replacement vehicle or… Read Full Review

“They Stink”

Written on: 27/10/2015 by Mjlincs (5 reviews written)

Hi I have just sold my faithful Scimitar SE6A which is very sad but what made it worse was cancelling my insurance with CAROLE NASH - £50 cancellation fee on a fully paid up policy, I said in that case don't cancel it because I have removed the cherished number and it will be on retention so no one can double insure the car but they would not listen and I owe them £50 and if I don't pay they will pass it to their debt collection agency. I think CAROLE NASH STINKS… Read Full Review

“ do NOT EVER use Carole Nash.”

Written on: 26/09/2015 by JohnInUK (1 review written)

Do NOT EVER use Carole Nash. I paid about £105 for my motorbike insurance. When I phoned to cancel just 2 months into the policy (after selling my bike), I was told my refund would be just £5 !!! When I queried this, I was told I had to pay a £50 cancellation fee. Yes, really! £50 !!!!! For a £105 policy! Apparently, this is written somewhere hidden deep inside their terms and conditions, deliberately put in a place where no one will see it before they sign up to a policy. I will never… Read Full Review
