I have had 2 experience at Specsavers 10 years apart in 2 different branches , there service is "Rubbish" had eye test picked frames spent £350 and waited , 20 days later and about 7 phone calls went to branch for my new glass. Having ordered two pairs of glasses, neither turned out to be suitable due to the frame size versus the prescription; one pair varifocals and one pair occupational. After several return visits, change of style as advised by the lovely person, I am very happy with the new glasses. A large part of that was due to the time taken to explain why certain frames are unsuitable for my prescription. @Specsavers appointment 840 I go booked 3 weeks back.8 staff stood around at Barnsley shop. Tell me glasses not in . “Absolutely disgusted ”

The last thing that any dissatisfied customer wants to hear is what cannot be done. There is obviously a problem or the customer would not have wasted his time coming into the store. I went to Bury and was met with 'nothing we can do'. I had spent over £530 in less than 2 months and I have thrown away the best part of £350. Update March 2021 - absolutely no customer service since the complaint. I have now found an alternative local optician who has levels of customer service that I would have expected from a major name like Specsavers. I can now understand why the reviews show such an appallingly low rating of only 1.9 out of 5. If you are thinking of using Specsavers - think again and save yourself time and money.

“Indifferent staff seem to have no customer service skills”

Enfield Town branch - I’ve been a customer for over five years now and it’s always a very functional trip but seems to have got worse. After my standard eye test and lens check I was handed over to a member of staff on the shop floor to “help me choose frames” - which I now understand to mean ‘point at a box and say “put any glasses you try on in that box” Then walk off. I had my eyes tested a few days ago at Nuneaton store. Firstly they left me for an hour as they had forgot me. Everyone else was going in bar me. I had to go up to reception and ask why. “Beware home visit theft!”

Booked home visit for two vulnerable wheelchair bound adults, one elderly and frail the other with severe learning difficulties. Two ladies turned up late and made use of my washroom. Incorrect prescription given following eye exam at Specsavers in Bexhill. This has happened twice and my family will not be going back. Be careful with Specsavers as value for money is not as important as your eye health and getting a correct prescription. Me and my husband went to specsavers for the first time. Never again! I was given frames that were too small even though they chose them, so they had to be changed. My husband was given reading glasses but was still having problems so had to go back to be told he needed varifocals. He was charged for the reading glasses then for the varifocals. Appalling home visiting service, two wrong prescriptions! Had a third from another optician which was different from the two from Specsavers! Plus I was told I had mild cataract in both eyes which Specsavers never spotted. When glasses arrived they had faulty lenses and had to be sent back to be reglazed, which took over a month! after over 3 months of hassle I asked for a full refund. after having my eyes tested in March this year, I ordered new frames with varifocal lenses. I had to return the glasses as they were hurting my eyes. They retested my eyes and found the prescription was to strong. The arm of the glasses then broke off so I had to go back again and was told new frames would have to be ordered and charged me £10.
