Taormina, Villa Fiorita

If was one of the nicest hotels that we stayed in during our 2007 vacation. Scenery was beautiful. Nice sitting room. Beautiful view. Wonderful breakfast continental style.

Villa Fiorita bears no resemblance to its very clever web site. The first impression is how dark it is and how much dust covers the thread-bare carpets and tatty wooden floors. And that's before you get to the room. Our room - which was very outdated and tatty - was flithy. The bathroom hadn't been properly cleaned for years. There was mould all over the tiles, the celing, and around the edge of the bath. The shower curtain was almost rotten. The sink was covered in the very visible dirt. The toilet leaked every time it was flushed, covering the filthy floor - we ran a tissue over it and it came up black. There were ants in the room and the bedding was stained and had holes in it. We obviously complained, but nothing was done despite persistent and increasingly fraught exhanges. Do not stay at this hotel. It is grim beyond belief.
