“Feel like home”

★★★★☆

written by on 24/06/2013

Stayed at Tara Beach May 20- Jine03, 2013. They have a nice swimming pool surrounded by a very beautiful garden. When you go to Tara beach, you don't go to a hotel, you go home. Yanis and his staff makes you feel home immediately. A special thank to the bartender George and for his excellence in pleasing the customer. Thank you for one of the most beautiful welcomes I've received during my stay at the hotel. Greeks are very friendly and hospitable :) Rufina

This is the second time we have stayed at the Tara Beach, if you like a quiet hotel close to the beach, tavernas in a beautiful setting I don't think you can beat the Tara Beach. The staff are really friendly and can't do enough to make your holiday special. I was travelling with a disabled relative, they met all our requests and made this a holiday to remember

Me and my family stayed at the Tara beach in 2005 and it was great. The gardens were the best I have ever seen. We also stayed in 2007 during the forest fires. The gardens where better than ever but I would say I would go back to Kefalonia and stay in Skala but not at the Tara.
But I think there is a new place opening in Skala and the the people who own the Tara own it and last year I saw then putting in plants in and waterfalls.

The Tara Beach Hotel is in a great location for the beach and restaurants only a short walk away. Beach shingle and sand and sea drops quickly so unsuitable for children. Advisable to wear beach shoes in sea. Good choice of restaurants with plenty of choice.

“Lovely holiday ”

Lovely holiday
Cheap holiday too, you get what you pay for here. It's a cheap holiday so you can't expect 5*
One of the nicest holidays I have had in a while.
Great location right by beautiful beach.
Very close to the shop and restaurants/taverna's
People who complain about this holiday need to spend more and upgrade and maybe go to the Caribbean on an all inclusive!

“The Tara Beach Hotel is the oldest hotel on Skala...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Boxley on 03/07/2007

The Tara Beach Hotel is the oldest hotel on Skala Beach and is an attractive building. Unfortunately it appears to have seen better days and needs to carry out some improvements to match the quality of neighbouring establishments. The rooms are very small, over-furnished and poorly maintained and I do not recommended them for travellers with mobility issues. The swimming pool is attractive although it was overcrowded during my stay (which was not in peak season). The hotel staff were without exception, very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the management do not appear to be making the most of the exceptional setting and guests will need to look elsewhere for entertainment.

Skala beach appears to be a rocky beach with imported sand. The beach profile slopes very steeply with a rocky bottom and may not be suitable for younger children or non-swimmers (the water depth is over 6 feet, some 5 metres from the shore).

Skala has plenty of restaurants and bars, although is overcommercialised. One resident (a UK ex-patriot) likened the resort to Blackpool although this is overstating matters in my opinion. Recommended restaurants include La Luna and The Pines (Greek) and Il Destino (Italian). Pines Too on the beach is a good place for breakfast and drinks.

The Tara Beach Hotel in Kefalonia is in an excellent location. There is a great pool with small bar, and it is very clean. There are plenty of reasonable quality restaurants and enough happy hour bars to help make your evening last a little longer. It is a great place for couples and young children, but there probably isn't enough to do for teenage party animals.
There are some lovely beach bars for lunch. Although, unless it says "fresh" fish it probably won't be!!

Breakfast, though adequate, needs to be more varied. We were there for one week, but after two I would have said something. Fresh fruit juice or an omelette would be nice and not expensive, and decent bread. There is a bakers just up the road, but the hotel seem to use supermarket sliced bread.

I would definitely recommend this resort and especially the hotel.

The Scandinavia and Galera restaurants are the ones I would recommend. Book a table at the front and people-watch. Don't bother with expensive bottles of wine; "house" is usually fine. Go to the Captains bar for excellent happy hour cocktails and a great atmosphere.

I would definitely stay at Tara Beach Hotel again, and would recommend it. It is right on the beach and has its own loungers which can be rented for 3 euro per day. The staff are friendly and the facilities are secure & clean.
This hotel has its own charm and personality - which do you do not get so much with the new hotels - 1 gentlemen we spoke to had been staying at Tara Beach for the last 6 years and he has watched it develop & grow. I can only conclude that it will continue to improve its facilities & service!!

The Tara Beach Hotel is literally directly on the seafront and to watch the sunrise over the horizon at a (very) early breakfast is unmissable. The atmosphere of the hotel is very friendly, hospitable and relaxed; you find it very easy to wind down here. I would not hesitate to stop there again.

The Tara Beach now has it's own fabulous outdoor swimming pool and jacuzzi. All rooms have been updated with air-conditioning. We have been going there for the last 10 years and will keep going back. It is suitable for families, couples, old, young.
