“Wont be going back!”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 22/09/2012

Just returned from fortnight in Sunbeach apartments. May be OK for teenagers but definitely not to be recommended for families or couples. The noise at night is over the top. Plenty of drunkness and agro - shouting, argueing, door slamming in the wee small hours. The apartment itself was adequate but the pillows should have been replaced ten years ago. The pool area leaves a lot to be desired. It is run down with only about a dozen sun loungers available and even those few are damaged and broken. This place seems always to be packed so it is unreasonable of the management not to invest in some new sun loungers annually. We were there last year too but we wont be going back for a third time. Know its a budget place, but even so, some kind of minimum upgrading is necessary in such a busy complex. Santa Ponza itself has plenty to offer. Lots of good cafes and restaurants to suit all pockets, absolutely fabulous beach, friendly people (except for the few louts who hang out at the wall leading to the beach). Great holiday, but we wont be going back to the Sun Beach Aapartments.

“My experience ”

★★★★☆

written by on 27/11/2009

My experience

Ok.... as an 18 year old lad, that went with 9 other lads of the same age, I thoroughly enjoyed myself at the Sun Beach. The sunbeach is at the heart of the resortdead, which is a good thing, but boyyyyy is it noisy at night! The people dont sleep! The apartments are clean which is also good.

Security?

There were reports that the staff nicked items from your apartment..We were fortunate enough for this not to happen to us.

Who Would i Recommend this place to?

I would not recommend the Sun Beach if you are after a family holiday!!!.. For Teenagers YESSSS, but for a family a strong NOOOOOO... If you are after a family apartment go to the Jutlanda or Plazamar Apartments. ( i stayed in both these places with my parents a few years back and they were family orientated)

For the sum of money that i Paid i believe i got my value for my money and had a great time!

“Was alright , i mean the Sun Beach Apartments...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 22/08/2009

Was alright , i mean the Sun Beach Apartments receptionist didnt even give us the number for our bus which she had. We ended up waiting 4 hours at the bus stop. If we forgot our key in the room they would give no help at all , at times we had to ask next door to see in we could crawl over to out balcony So yeah Customer Service is a complete zero. Another thing, the public pool wasnt the cleanest , there was also a smell of sewage around the pool , i didnt mind people drinking around the pool during the day , in fact i had quite a few myself but at night there tends to be alot of noise and people jumping in and throwing drink in and breaking glass ! but the rooms are fine , ac was needed big time.
But cold showers worked a treat and the people around Santa Ponsa are very friendly and u tend to forget about the little things when your out talking to some locals or fellow holiday go'ers.

Good holiday and would recomend this town and apartments. This place is great for the young not so much for the old but it is mad, no one sleeps in it, it is a mental place and I enjoyed everything about it.

“Bargain basement - we knew that. But good value. ”

★★★☆☆

written by martin3 on 06/07/2008

Bargain basement - we knew that. But good value.
Okay, no air con and no bars on windows. If it gets hot, take your pick, security or comfort - your choice - also no TV - we knew this when we booked.
Bed linen and towels once a week - we got three sets in 9 days, plus it was for the whole apartment, not just for us two people, so plenty spare.
We are both in our mid late fifties.
Most of the apartments around us were occupied by Irish teenagers - very loud, and very loud late into the night whilst getting ready for the discos that last until 6 am.
But they were all good kids - the young ladies, next door, told my wife 'if we get too loud, just shout at us'
There is no garage, but there is a car park. You cannot access this from Ramon Moncada. Keep going, bare right and circle around until you are behind the hotel (less than 3 minutes) and watch carefully for the entrance - indicate, pull hard left and steer in right (wondering if you will wipe out the bumper). Steep ramp, lots of parking space. Gates get shut at around 8pm;, so use the municipal car park after this.
Hope this helps your choice.

“I have to agree with the last ladies comments, i came...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 28/05/2008

I have to agree with the last ladies comments, i came here with an open mind and was looking forward to a weeks break with my small child who is 6 years of age. I am currently holidaying in the Sun Beach, there is 4 of us here including 2 children there is nothing for the children to do especially when it is raining out which it has been for last 4 days no even a tv in the room. I'm in my early 30's and when I'm at home i love going clubbing and enjoying the craic but this place is defo not for people wanting to come to enjoy a few beers and a night out with family. The place is buzzing until at least 6am in the morning and the younger holiday makers scream and shout on their way to the apartment if one of them is locked out the whole of the complex is awake as they normally kick the doors down. This place is a kip granted it is close to everything but not very clean I don't think. The cleaners start shouting at each other at about 8 in the morning and then the builders on the site next door begin the hammering and wielding you cant even get an extra hour in the morning I'm up at 7.m. everyday. My advise stay in Ireland and spend your cash were its welcomed and you are not poorly treated. I've head so much about Santa Ponsa being a brill spot for kids but to be honest I'm really let down with the place it is a kip and i will never be coming back my advise to anybody with kids or the young at heart older generation please do not book these apartments i have nothing good at all to say about them. they are like staying in cheap hostel at home only you are paying through the nose here. i thought that these apartment might be ok considering that it is only May but no.

“Returned 24 May 2008. ”

★★☆☆☆

written by lynnt8253 on 25/05/2008

Returned 24 May 2008.
Two Ladies aged 55 & 65... but young at heart!!

Just returned from the Sun Beach Apartments in Santa Ponsa Majorca.
Granted it wasn't the ideal weather, but you have to take the rough with the smooth, but not this rough!
When we arrived we were put on floor six, so into the lift we go... to floor three, then out of the lift and across a bridge about 100yards to another lift, then up to floor seven. YES SEVEN... and then walked to another lift to get down to floor six!! Was a ten minute job every time, up or down.
With regret I have to say the first three days were a wash out, and with the rain gettining into everything the lifts stopped working. So we had to walk up the 60 or so steps to our floor (not recommended for the older folk, disabled, or anyone with breathing difficulties) as we walked up the steps in the dark at about midnight, we felt really scared, two women on their own. I actually got hold of the concrete wall to help me climb them and got a very strong electric shock off the wall! it had an electric switch on it, but the rain must have got into it and electrified the wall.
Two nights later, the lift broke down with us in it, we had to stay intill someone heard us banging 30 minutes later, there was an alarm but didnt seem to attract the attention of anyone, even the 24hour reception!!
Going in early May we thought we would miss the noise from the younger element.. No. All night solid, we were only issued with one key to a room so if anyone wanted to come home earlier than the rest, they had the key, then the others would be hammering on the doors all night to be in. Finally after the last night club closed at 6am and everyone got tucked up at 7am or so, the maids would start working, and talking, and talking and shouting at one another from one floor to the next. That was all day!!
The rooms were basic but clean and towels were renewed every other day. The rooms were very spacious.
Just one minor grouch, the draining board top always had little ant like things running about, couldn't get shot of those.
Great hot water and a great bath and power shower. We had a problem with one of the cooker rings, but the men were there to mend it in five minutes; they said it was the rain again shorting the fuse box every five minutes.
The weather became slightly better and the problems were solved... except for the sleep on one night which is impossible.
Still enjoyed Santa Ponsa though, will go back sometime but getting too old for the Beach Apartments. Kids,go for it...you'll have a ball!!

“We stayed at The Sun Beach Apartments in August 2007...”

☆☆☆☆☆

written by bossanovababy3 on 04/05/2008

We stayed at The Sun Beach Apartments in August 2007 for two weeks. It was myself, my husband and my 12 year old son. We are not old only in our 30's and found this place awful!
It is a PARTY hotel for 18-25 year olds that NEVER sleep during the night only during the day. The bedroom is set at the back in a claustrophobic room with no air conditioning right next to the corridor with a tiny window with bars on it. The first night we arrived we were shattered from travelling and needed sleep. There was no chance of that. All you could hear was a party going with very very loud techno music on in one room. Then there was the constant door bell ringing and banging by drunken people. Then came the arguing and shouting. And finally the girls crying and screaming. We didn't sleep at all and felt wrecked.br/>The sheets were filthy, ripped and even had lipstick on them to show that they were not washed. The towels were the same.
We were on the 6th floor so we thought the only solution to get any sleep at all was to physically move the beds from the bedroom to the front room and leave the sliding doors open to get some air. It was better not to hear the awful corridor noise. But, you then had the extremely loud bar noise underneath the hotel.
One morning around 6 am I was half-asleep and someone walked right past me! I thought it was my husband but I looked over and he and my son were still in bed! Someone was in the room. I screamed to my husband and he tried to chase the man out but my husband was half-asleep and didn't catch him. The man got out the front door and ran down all the stairs. He was running from the police because we were told he had hit a woman at one of the bars. A few days later they had eventually caught him.

We reported it to the staff at the hotel and the man at the desk just said, "ugh..idiots! I hate this season! So many idiots in this hotel!" The staff just looked utterly fed up as were we. You had to take 2 separate lifts just to get up to our room.
Some people surrounded the pool with loud techno music so you could not even go to the pool.
The resort of Santa Ponsa is lovely though but very very Irish and Scottish and I would go back but to a different hotel on the other side of the resort. The best bar for families is Bar Code 7 with terrific entertainment every night. The beach is gorgeous but I would not recommend the watermelon or soft drinks on the beach as they are expensive. Get it from the supermarket. Fat Sam's has the very best food but get there early as it is always packed.

Overall the Sun Beach Apartments ideal accommodation as a base to explore Santa Ponsa, beach is lovely and ideal for everyone including small children, although the locality of the apartments would not be suitable for families during the high season. I would book to go again. Clean apartments, friendly staff, ideal base if you don't want luxury. Near to lovely bars and fantastic restaurants serving beautiful fish and pasta dishes. Beach a few minutes away which is lovely and clean with a lifeguard on hand.

The Sun Beach Apartments were fab, the people were really great and friendly and as for food there is a wide choice of basically anything. The nightclubs were great, especially Greenfield, and the best pub was Dannys Corner straight in front of the complex. The water parks was great but watch out for the roasting ground! Hope this is helpful all I can say is enjoy your stay in the Sun Beach Apartments as we did!

written by katier60 on 21/09/2006

As far as I am concerned there is very little security there. People seem to be able to enter your apartment and break into your new LOCKED suitcase by using a fork found in the apartment and breaking the zip. Helping themselves to all your valuables, including birthday money, and presents, credit cards, driving licences and much more!! It was very difficult to get a safety deposit box on arrival, so make sure you insist if you do decide to stay here, as I would hate this to happen to you. We were not the only couple for this to have happened to. We have been to Santa Ponsa 20 times, and we have always enjoyed it, even with young children, but I would never stay at this chain of hotels again due to their lack of security.

We highly recommend the Sun Beach Apartments in Santa Ponsa if you want to live up to the high standards that we did! Yes, I will be returning next year, despite the fact that when we left the pool we actually smelled like a mouldy wet dog! The cooker exploded. The towels had a stale smell coming from them! Don't get me started on the lift! You couldn't even fit one small mouldy person in it, it was too small, but the pool was ice cold. You could freeze the devil in it, so it helped with our sunburn!

The Sun Beach Apartments in Santa Ponsa is not the place to go if you have a family, but it is OK if you're young and want to be in bed all day and cause mayhem all night.

Not my ideal holiday destination by any stretch of the imagination.

written by fmconradio on 03/06/2006

The only good thing I have to say about the Sun Beach apartments is that they are in the heart of Santa Ponsa, and they couldn't be nearer to everything.

In the space of 3 days, we had money stolen on 2 occasions from our room at the Sun Beach Apartments in Santa Ponsa. The police will not do anything as it is an internal matter, unless there was forced entry.

I do not recommend the Sun Beach Apartments in Santa Ponsa if you want to get to sleep before 5am any day of the week. It is not suitable for a relaxing holiday, as noise levels are very bad, and the hotel is built on top of very loud karaoke bar that stays open until 4 am every morning.
