It Is A Year Since Our Visit To Menorca But I Doub

It is a year since our visit to Menorca but I doubt much has changed. We are a couple in our mid forties.

Mediterrani Hotel is very clean. Rooms are a good size and nicely furnished. This could be 4* quality if the hotel had more & better facilities.

The garden & pool area are very attractive with the outside Bar serving daytime snacks. However they don't like you walking on the grass and the Pool must be refrigerated. Even the hardiest of souls could not stand more than a few minutes in it.

There were several people complaining when we went because they had booked a late deal with Thomsons stipulating 4* accomodation. Thomsons/Portland rate this 4T but it has none of the usual refinements of 4* ie Gym indoor pool etc which they were expecting. Also they were led to believe it would be from the Thomsons brochure, but in the small print it mentions it could be any of their partner companies.

That said I had an enjoyable week, the staff were very efficient. Food was ok normal buffet but could have trouble finding a table at busier times. Evening entertainment was virtually non existent but you are able to use the entertainment at Sagitario & Vista Playa which are both open to any of the public so get very crowded. Noise from practising groups & disco during the daytime from Bar next door was also a bit of a nuisance sometimes.

Resort is generally quiet & clean the beach is small and collects a lot of weed, it looks nice when this is cleared but they don't seem to do it very regulary. The sea is sheltered and shallow, much better & more comfortable for a swim than the pool.

If your thinking of taking your family here don't there is not a lot for younger people. The resort and the hotel in particular is geared for the older person/couple who just want to relax in comfort.

There is a bus stop outside the hotel with a regular service to cuitudella and a less frequent one to Cala en Bosch which has a larger beach & marina but the best way to get about is hire a car. It is cheap to do and not at all scary, people drive sensibly here and there is only one main road which goes the length of the island.

Visit the more remote beaches on the north of the island they are beautiful. Also the attractive beach & marina with nice bars & restaurants at Cala Galdana is well worth a day out.
