After many phone calls to a number of different customer service advisers who all promised me my enquiry would be dealt with ,my claim was after 4 weeks closed and payment made , only because one lady on the custermer service team made the effort to chase my claim and get it closed .without her help I am sure it would have taken even longer. Having applied for pre-authorisation which I was told would take 3-5 working days- it actually took over 3 weeks. As part of that I gave the address of the vets with whom she was registered BEFORE I became her owner and explained that she was under Cats Protection ownership at the time. Whoever phoned the vet gave my name rather than Cats Protection and was therefore told the my cat was not registered with them. All our pets have been insured with PetPlan over a number of years. My recent claim has taken the longest to be paid. Medical history was requested from the vet it was sent twice before I requested the vet to send it to me and I forwarded it to PetPlan. My dog has had skin problems and been diagnosed as being allergic to trees grass weeds mites and mould she has also suffered from diarreha so It seems as though I am always at the vets. “Overall experience with my Labrador ”

My Labrador was referred to a veterinary hospital by my vet in May 2017. He was diagnosed with a herniated disc. The cost for this was in the region of £1450. This claim for was sent in and promptly paid. Excellent service. He was admitted a few weeks later for an operation. This bill came to £5500 . Again the claim was sent in and promptly paid. I submitted a claim for my dog which was an ongoing condition. CDRM. The insurance did not accept this last claim as they had tried to connect this condition to a previous condition which was not relevant. From submitting the claim my dog had to be put to sleep due to the condition deteriorating. I have just had confirmation of payment 5weeks since I paid the vet bill on my credit card, I phoned on several occasions to be told more information was needed which as I had contacted both vets I assumed it had been sent.One vet had failed to send this although they assured me that it had been sent and this was causing the delay . it was only on the last call we asked what was happening that we found out what was needed and the matter was resolved. I have been with PP for 16yrs and overall the service has been excellent. However last year we adopted two more rescues,I thought everything had been clear on the telephone but in unfortunately not!I realised that I'd insured one of my cats as a pedigree not a movie & when I've tried to change this it proved to be difficult. We were disappointed with the claims procedure which has taken almost two months to settle. We are aware that this is our first claim and that it was made soon after taking out the policy but it was made in good faith and we were not trying to hide anything. I think my claim was dealt with swiftly but unfairly. My dog has had a course of treatment that apparently falls under " Holiistic" which they paid for less my excess. All fair n square. In order to undergo this treatment he required a visit t to the vet and a referral etc I claimed for this at the same time but you say I can't claim this cost as it's not under the same category. Having made a claim for hydrotherapy & it getting settled quite quick we had no worries when we had to make another claim quite some time later. Pet Plan used to offer a good service at a reasonable price. It saw me through an expensive illness that my cat suffered from about two years ago (fortunately doing ok now), and has previously paid the ongoing bills for his medication without any problems. However, the last claim I made for medication was well and truly screwed up by Pet Plan and has left me out of pocket by £350 for the last three months or so.
