Why are Aegon allowed to change interest paid promise previously given on cash fund linked to BOE base rate? Also the agreed guaranteed terms of the sipp pension when first set up to encourage people to transfer & save with them? Many who have left a final salary scheme for these pre aggreed terms

AEGON is a financial pyramid. The idea of AEGON's existence is to invest the customers' money with a profit so that they have a decent pension. Instead, the money is not invested at all, or if it is invested, the profit is taken away by AEGON. Apart from this, customers' accounts are being drained under some unclear rules and with exorbitant charges. I RECOMMEND everyone to deposit their money in a bank. There you have constant access and control of your account, clear rules, no fees and interest is paid. Stay away

I cannot explain how incompetant AEGON are apart from losinf 30 % of my pension the levels of communication are frightful I am suprised they are not the subject of a Government review as no matter where I go the reviews are awful which is as per my experience . In fact I find it hard to actually give them 1 star please do yourself a favour and stay clear ....

Trying to transfer a pension out since they have high fees and little choice. So far taken 5 months and I still have no clear idea on status. They are either completely incompetent or doing everything they can to stall the process. Long wait times to get through or they just advise emailing then disconnect. They then take weeks to respond to email. Very poor at advising on status. They couldn't do any worse if they tried.

I have been trying to take my pension for three months, and the dreaded beast that is Aegon have been unwilling to release the funds to my annuity provider. This should have been done by the third week in January, and as of today 5/3/2021, they still haven't released the funds. Due to the long delay, I have lost the annuity rate that the annuity provider quoted me and they have given up chasing Aegon. I have been trying to make Aegon release the funds, but they are virtually uncontactable...phone is never answered, just held listening to music and on the one occasion that the webchat wasn't busy, the person didn't have the know-how to answer my questions. Email asking them to release the funds was ignored. Statements they have sent me are wrong, GMP not mentioned, only mentioned as a means to block fund release 8 weeks into process. So I'm at my wits end, and to make it worse, the fund value had fallen precipitously in this time. This is beyond incompetent.

Inaccurate statements and now it turns out my pension isn't what they said it would be 2 months ago. Deeply upsetting having to deal with this organisation who frankly couldn't care less. If I could give no stars then I would, they are awful

Banks and UK tax offices virtual and direct contacts are Heavens in comparison of Aegon ! This is certainly the most useless website in can be in this field. I tried today to find just to log in where you are if you are a user from a company - is it in the customers or in the employers ??? If you are not a specialist in pensions, then good luck. Because you have to know exactly what type of contract you have and this is not the sort of information you have. I tried to log in but is asking the most stupid questions ever- even my log to the bank is easy peasy in comparison. I have then tried to call and the customer service is the most unhelpful ever. If you don't reply to their exact questions, they have no will to help you whatsoever. And because their quesions over the phone are completely differents from the question on the website to reset your password, you can't get prepared. Informed my head office and suggested another company far more friendly not just with the companies but with the users... Will make sure we move out of this terrible service.

Aegon is just bad news. They messed up my pension account. I ended up with Aegon via my agent when I turned my savings plan [tax rebated] into a pay out scheme. They screwed up the whole plan, they payed out the wrong ammounts at the wrong times from the wrong accounts [needed for different pay out periods]. One can manage the accounts onself, transfer funds etc., so essentially a bank, so one would imagine they are open to contact but they do not have an email adress one can contact. If you do get thru they refuse to deal with you, they will only deal with agents. At every touch and turn they do not respond or if they do it's in some wierd round about way. They respond to [negative!] reviews via websites such as this within minutes but not to a direct complaint from a customer. No folks, if you are a customer you have my sympathy. If not then take my advice and keep clear of Aegon, they are there for Aegon not for you....

full of bugs, error messages, slow, no app, very very hard to use (transfer, switch...), unclear, this platform is a disgrace! I wish I could put my pension elsewhere...

I have been paying into this Clown investment company through a works pension scheme and have constantly requested policy details - to no avail - why - what are they scared off - are they just truly inept? Is it possible to take a payment holiday with Aegon investments?

I have had association with Aegon/Scottish Equitable for over 30 years. I recently withdrew an occupational pension as a lump sum. However they incorrectly taxed me causing me to pay more than £7k in tax too much. HMRC advised me that a small number of Pensions Companies fail to ask some key taxation questions. I have spent several hours on the phone to Aegons Customer Service agents all who broadly demonstrate core inability to effectively stand in their customers shoes - even just for a moment ! Aegon Customer Service have a "Tomorrow" attitude and when "Tomorriw" comes the process starts again. I have had numerous promises of return calls from managers which never materialise. Their head of customer services write to me saying that "yes" they could have asked basic personal taxation questions but concluded that the way that they did do it did not breach regulations. The non Customer Focussed attitude of the chap now leaves me with weeks and possibly months of trying to get this non inconsiderable amount of tax back from HMRC. Unfortunately HMRC only pay statutory interest when I could have had it invested somewhere doing a lot better. My broad experience are that their investments are good but their Customer Services is disgraceful and contemptuous - Avoid !

What's with all the paperwork sent back and forth for any request we may have? You have an online portal, you are regulated by the FCA, use it!

No attempt made to look at an individual's particular circumstances. Customer service repeated same rehearsed statement about 20 times like a robot. Feel displeased that business I had initially with the Nationwide should have been transferred to this dreadful organisation. Frankly it does not merit one star.

I have the misfortune to have my company SIPP scheme with Aegon, so alas I have to deal with them. I could wax on for ages on just why they are so awful - poor customer service, hopeless platforms and tools, but I will resist the urge, other than to say they are really 'terrifyingly awful' pension provider. On the plus side I now have an agreement with my company and Aegon that as long as I leave a certain amount in the company pension and it continues to take contributions each month, I can periodically move money into my own SIPP without charge. So, I am moving money away from them with relative ease, as I am using my SIPP provider to request the transfers, they have the hassle of dealing with Aegon. So all is well as I finally have control over SIPP fund choices, something Aegon tools and processes really can't deliver - as they are just too slow and painful to use. 38 reviews in total thus far - all 1 star, incompetence like that really takes some doing.

I asked Aegon to transfer money in my pension from one fund to a better performing fund. After three weeks they still have not transferred the money despite me raising a complaint with them. I have now lost a couple of thousand pounds thanks to their slovenly incompetence.

I have just transferred part of my Pension from Aegon into another HMRC Scheme, this experience started last October, 2016. The whole experience has been a complete disaster, and the transfer was very close to not happening due to conflicting product information from Aegon Customer Support Staff. Every time you ring Aegon, you get a different person, and you have to explain the whole story from scratch. At first, Aegon stated I could not transfer my Pension away from them, because it was a GMP Type Pension. At that point, I could have walked away, and been none the wiser, was this a deliberate ploy from Aegon to hold onto MY money? After much digging and research by my independent FA, Aegon did finally admit that part of the pension could be transferred to another scheme, no small sum of money. Once confirmed that I could transfer, Aegon made it almost impossible for us to transfer the money from them, firstly, depending on what day/week/month you rang them, some representatives still stated the pension could not be moved. After filling in transfer forms, and waiting many months, they then insisted I filled in further forms. When I received these forms, they were the same forms I had already filled in two months previous with my FA, was this just another delaying tactic? or pure incompetence?. The saga continued, Aegon told my FA that the pension could be transferred using an electronic banking transfer system, only to inform them later, no, this is not possible. The Pension is now transferred, but I cant believe the manner in which Ive been treated as a valued customer of Aegon, it beggars belief that they continue to function, and I can only thank my FA for his support in dealing with this awful outfit.

It is so difficult to contact them!! They make you fill in an online form and after writing there all your details you just get a text 'call us on this number' Tried to email them - it doesn't work either! Is anything working in Aegon at all?

Have been trying for 2years to get back a couple of hundred pounds pension which my employer deducted from my salary without my permission. After talking to their call centre I lose the will to live and with the volume of paperwork they sent you would think I was trying to reclaim a million pounds. Finally today, the system is changed and by answering a few detail the money is within my grasp. Or so l thought. I'm 73, I moved house 4 years ago and bought everything I needed with cash, or credit card. And guess what? Experian refuse to allow them to pay a cheque into my bank account and you have guessed it more paperwork.copy of my passport, authorised, utility bill etc on receipt of which I will get about £150. What a pathetic joke this company is.

Trying to move my Aegon to a new personal pension via my financial advisor. Aegon have shown themselves to be incompetent and difficult. Consistently ignoring my requests for the transfer of my funds. This has dragged on for months with them asking questions that are not even relevant, wanting to know if I understand the consequence of moving the money (yes besides it being better value I don't have to deal with Aegon anymore so win win). Today after making myself, my financial advisor and Royal London jump through hoops for months they have just "realised" that they have made a mistake and should have released my funds when requested! They had "mistakenly" thought I was in a different fund that couldn't be transferred! Incompetent doesn't cover it! AVOID AEGON
