We enharited these when we bought the house and they have been working great. They must be at least 15 years old. Strange how they are considered to be the worst equipment ever produced. There must have been a model where they had done it right?

We purchased a Maytag Neptune washer and a Neptune dryer 20 years ago, in all that time neither has let us down and have worked perfectly the whole time never needing any repairs. No problems with mould or anything else. When they do eventually breakdown I will do my best to get them repaired in order to service us for the next 20 years. Wouldn't consider any other make of machine now having experienced these. Just hope that spares will still be around when these machines need it!

Ours lasted 16 years....without one problem...and is still running but the bearings just started making noise. I don't know what else to ask of a washer.... (mic drop)

Maytag Neptune frontload washer is not worth the price. Constantly trying to keep mold out of the washer and the smell is never ending. Customer service says to leave door open and the mold won't form. That is a real joke. Will never have another Maytag and it completely turns you against a frontloader.

We purchased the Neptune Top Load Washer and the Front Load Dryer as a set in 2004. We paid a lot for them planning on their lasting a long time. From the first time I did launry I found I was unhappy with the ay the paddle side agitators worked. They did nothing but twist the clothes into knots. Pants legs, shirt sleeves, etc. were twited to the point you had to work to untangle them. Even if you used the wrinkle control setting, it did not work. Now after nine years the last spin cycle will not operate properly and two repairmen have told me it is junk and to go back to the old fahion center agitator with hand dials in lieu of the computerized board for controls. I am very disappointed. I had Kenmore products previous and they lasted us 23 years with only two small repairs that due to age had to be repaired. Thought the ads for Maytag told you the repairman is lonely because no one ever needs him. DUH! Thanks for having a place to allow us to vent.

I have had this machine for approximately 5 years. One year ago the motor went. It took weeks to get a technician. He arrived at an initial cost of £150 but carried no spare parts so had to come again another week later. He sold me a policy for a year to cover other problems. £250. 7 days after this ran out the heater has failed. I called Maytag and of course would have to embark on the same inital £150 then man come again and pay him for second call plus parts ir. well in excess of £250-300 for fixing. Given that within a year and 2 weeks this machine would cost £500+ to fix I am opting to buy a new, reliable machine and would NEVER touch Maytag again. there is nothing good I can say about it other than that it is large.

I bought my machine back in 2000 and have not had any problem with mold, perhaps because I always leave the door open, albeit water does collect in the bottom of the door seal. The only other problem I've had is the failure of the spin cycle to occur - maybe 5 times.

Machine is constantly in need or repair. Thank goodness, we bought the extended warranty. Machine has been repaired atleast 6 times so far and am currently waiting for service now. Plan to buy a cheaper and more dependable Kenmore when the extended warranty runs out!!!! Very disappointed...paid 1300 for this washer.

A piece of [email protected]. We got the extended warranty (thank god) and luckily everything that went wrong...and there was many things...got fixed free of charge. Finally the last straw came when the fabric softener wouldn't drain and it will cost over 300.00 to replace a circuit board. Now the place we bought it from is giving us a credit to get a new one as they are not going to bother fixing it.

Neptune Maytag mle2000ayw stackable washer.
Worst washer we have ever owned. There is several minutes delay from the time the cycle is done and the unit can be opened, it's very annoying! But the main problems are that often the unit won't spin, so the laundary is soaking wet and the mildew, mold smell from this washer is unbearable. We can not longer use the machine as it's ruining our clothes. I've called Maytag customer service and they actually tell me that they've never had anyone complain about a mildew smell from this machine before, yeah right! I've tried everything, affront tabs, leaving door open, running a bleach cycle, etc. and it worsens. We've only had the machine 3 years, and can no longer use it due to the smell. Maytag won't stand behind their products. I will never buy anything from Maytag...do not buy this washer or you will be very disappointed.

I bought this unit expecting it to last at least 20 years trouble free. Control panel burned out at end of warranty. Bearings making lots of noise and wax motor should be replaced as advised from other forums. Never again.
What brand is a dependable stackable unit?

MAH55FLBWW model purchased at Home Depot in Parker Co June 16, 2003. Oil is coming onto cloths from the washer. The articles on the web point to a faulty seals. This was a $1000 purchase and had a class action lawsuit in 2005 that we did not know about that has expired.

Had this maytag neptune washer for a little over one year. It still works just sounds like a jet is taking off in the laundry room when it spins. Repair man came today. Repairs will be over $800 which is covered on the warranty we had to pay $90 extra for. Since the repairs are over the cost paid for the washer they are only going to give us the $ back and discontinue the warranty. Now that is some way to back your product! Seem to me they want me to buy a different brand.
Now that I'm looking, it really looks like I picked a lemon.

We purchased this Maytag Neptune Washer machine in '01. I was thoroughly excited to get it and loved it about the first year. Then the smell started, the mold smell, constantly. I called the small appliance store we purchased it from and he tried to help me many times with different way to get rid of the smell but it always returned. Finally the computer board just died and when it would go one way rotating and then stop to go another it would make a very strange sound so I knew it wasn't long for this house.
I just today purchased a Fridigidaire front loader and am very hopeful that by now they have perfected the mold smell by learning the hard way by the many complaints from this machine.

I bought the Maytag Neptune washer & dryer 6/2006, since then I have had the dryer drum replaced, the ballbearing & belt. My clothes do not get cleaned, very loud, does not spin out clothes, they are soaked. Takes 4 hours to do 1 load of clothes that still smells. There are always codes going off. The service calls have been poor. I spent 3300.00 on the set & pedal stools. I will tell everyone I know not to buy maytag.

From day one the Neptune has been a problem. Mold & Mildew are present along with the smell. The Control Board & the rubber boot were changed under warranty. The repairs failed to correct the problem.
We are at wits end with this washer. Maytag was the best & that is why we purchased a Neptune. What a total disappointment this has been.
Unfortunately I had never been aware of the Class Action Lawsuit.

Top class products and service 10 out of 10. I have never ever had a problem with Maytag there appliances are top class and well worth there money I would recommened them to every one, and there customer service is top quality I have had one problem with my appliance in 27 years and they were quick to fix/repair the appliance within days at a good rate and there call centre staff were so helpfully and friendly.

Would never recommend this washing machine to anyone. Very disappointed in it. Does not wash well, my old Montgomery that was 15 years washed better then my expensive Neptune. Not happy with it at all.
