Do not use them. I took on one of their credit cards which was supposed to be interest free in order to pay off an overdraft I had with my bank. I did not use the card to buy anything, I just set up a direct debit and paid off a bit each month. One month I had to change the amount of my direct debit and I did so on their website. For some reason this direct debit did not happen and I was slapped with charges and interest. When I spoke to them they were unable to say why this mistake happened and I took it on the chin and went back on to the site to re-arrange my direct debit so it wouldn't happen again. Guess what? It did. I got slapped with more charges and interest and still do not know why the DD didn't work. Anyway long and short my husband kindly offered to pay the whole lot as I was getting increasingly upset. I phoned them to insure that this would be the end of it but was told, after paying off the whole lot, that I would STILL receive a letter charging more interest the following month. When I argued this with the customer service person she said that there was nothing she could do about it and kept trying to educate me as to the ways of their rolling interest contract. So next month I will be paying them yet more interest and after that I will NEVER use Sainsbury's bank ever again.

Unable to access website in order to settle account. Hours spent trying to get through to customer service. Appallingly unhelpful customer service agents when I eventually did get to speak to someone. Unable to exercise a degree of common sense when faced with something off script.....quite frankly, the second my zero percent offer is up I will DEFINITELY be going else where and never intend on using their services again.....however until that time I'll be making sure I milk every single penny from the zero percent period ;) ...well it's the very least they can do for making me have to deal with such a useless company/staff

Do not deal with these. 3times I spoke to somebody to remove my daughter from my policy when she passed her test. I changed my car so had to update details told somebody again she needed to be removed. I have a renewal price sent me now which is a riducous amount and this is because my daughter is still on the policy. So I'm guessing when I changed my car and they charged me an extortionate amount to do this is because my daughter was still on the policy despite requesting her to be removed. I've messaged endlessly and they are just choosing to ignore all my messages and I can see that they have been read. Shocking customer service.

WARNING - do not use Sainsburys bank for your car insurance if there is any chance you may want to cancel part way through the year. I cancelled with 3 months left to go anticipating saving some money after Christmas - this was not the case. I ended up paying the remaining amount in one lump sum less £25. If I had realised this I wouldn't have bothered cancelling and would have left the car insured. After speaking to them for clarification when the paperwork came through they confirmed this was the case and I could not reinstate the policy. What a farce! I now know why my 6 other cars are all insured with Direct Line or Lancaster. You may pay a bit more overall but the service is second to none and never had any problems with making amendments to policies. DO NOT USE

I have now been trying to get through to the bank for 3 days. I am £50 in credit in my account and looking for the credit paying back into my bank. I have now tied to call 5 times. I work full time and cannot make calls in work time. Each time it has taken over 30/40 mins to get though to one person, for then to be told I am being transferred, again on hold 15/20 mins having to hang up without speaking to someone. I have asked for a call back on Wed. As yet its Friday and I am still waiting. If I owed them money I am sure they would be on the phone to me instantly. Very poor level of customer service. Especially as I have been promised a call to resolve this, my call will only take 5 mins. Maybe I should charge interest on the £50 they owe me?

Appalling customer service to credit card customers. An automated telephone number that results in long delays (MUCH longer than estimated at the beginning of the call). Eventually you give up. Shocking service!

Speaking from personal experience I've been with Sainsbury's Bank Credit Card for six months and my recent experience with their customer service has left me frustrated. One thing to say is that they are not rude when you speak to them - always apologetic which makes all of their previous apologies redundant. What SB customer service is - is incompetent. I've been wanting to increase my credit limit from the start. So, at first I was told that I have to wait six months before I can do that. So, faithfully, I've been making my payments on time and in full. When the six months came up, I applied for an increase again and I receive an email declining the increase saying, "We review credit limit increases every six months GIVEN that you have a clear history of payment." No other explanation provided. What?! So, since that email I've been calling and emailing and calling to SB customer service to send me a letter to confirm that I have a clear history of payments - nothing! No one even bothered to return my calls until I wrote them the letter informing them of my intention to refer to Financial Ombudsman Service. Got a phone call from SB customer service rep the next day!! After this phone call - which is exactly a month later - did I get a letter explaining to me what I need to do to increase the credit limit (not what I asked for) and in small print (two sentences) mentioning that I've been keeping my payments up to date. Frustrating, frustrating, frustrating! Besides, the rewards on the SB credit card are so small - it is not worth your time and your nerves. You are better off applying to something like American Express Nectar - at least there, you'll get better Nectar point rewards. I've switched to my bank's credit card and no issues there. Touch wood.

I am on my second loan now with Sainsburys at a rate of 2.9% (could have had 2.8% had I remembered to use my Nectar card). The first one pays off in a few months and this new one is a five year loan. Could have used cash but the loan rate makes it sensible when matching to long term expenditure. Contrary to other reviews, they have met my expectations. Process was quite drawn out and I had to confirm passport details over the phone but the end result was as expected.

the worse customer service I have ever had in banking, and I bank with Lloyds, Nationwide and Halifax - they ALL have iffy service, BUT **SAINSBURYS** bank are by far the worse. You can see they already have just 2 star here, by other reviewers. So Im not alone in thinking and experiencing such bad service I take my time to write a review, rather than just walk away. Ignore reviewers - have your own crappy service - then wish you had heeded us. Banks have long forgotton who we are -

Avoid! I was told I had a 90% chance of being accepted with a 3.4% APR of a £15000 loan over 5 years. I got an 'acceptance in principle' and was told an email had been sent with the details. It Hadn't I phoned the bank and was told the rate was actually 11.2%! I have an excellent credit rating and found this ridiculous! When I told them not to bother sending the paperwork they offered to drop the rate to 10.2% and I laughed and told them not to contact me in future Soon after I was approved for another product from another lender at a more My advice? Go Elsewhere

Applied for a loan to pay off my credit card as I want to be rid of it. Checked my credit reports on equifax and experian - both excellent. Applied for a loan through Sainsburys bank as they were advertising 3.4% APR. Got approved straight away, paperwork arrived a week later.Only problem is, they don't tell you what your approved interest rate is until they send you the paperwork (and they were very slow doing that!) when I got my paperwork they offered me 6.7%!!!!! I called them up, spoke to two individuals, one of who claimed to be a manager, and was completely fobbed off and spoken to like an idiot. Neither could explain why I had been offered such a high interest rate, neither could/would actually give me any information at all. Was told if I could find a bank with a cheaper interest rate they would price match!?! Not a chance! I asked for the address for complaints and was denied it until I threatened to broadcast how inept they were on social media. Would never apply again, ruined my credit score, and spoken to like a fool.

Sainsburys Customer Care is shockingly bad in the event to them making a mistake, which they admit. They tried to double my premium even when they admitted their systems had not been updated properly even though these details were entered onto the online quote system. Not willing to help at all, do not use. + Long wait time on phone.

Very disappointed and angry. They ruined my credit score which was perfect. They attracted me with low APR and after that declined. I have perfect score, never missed any payment, lived in address for 7 years, no credits, all of them have been payed without problem. I will never again will do any business with them.

I would give them 0 stars if I could. Much like everyone else, applied for a loan for a car as it would have almost halved my pcp payments from £500 to £280 on a replacement car purchased outright with a personal loan. I earn 30k a year and have good credit. had a phonecall from sainsburys bank asking for all my bank details and my passport number etc. I was then told my application was successful but the apr would be 17.9% as opposed to the 3.5% advertised. i didnt even bother to discuss the application further to waste my time or breath and told them to withdraw it. i wouldnt bother applying with them again as they just waste your time for the most part

You wont believe it, picture this: Your go to your Bank, ask the cashier for around £1,000 that belongs to you and he tells you that they don't have £1,000. You ask yourself "How can they call themselves BANK? I thought banks main product is MONEY, and Sainsbury's Bank would have a bit more than £1,000, well that's what happened to my today.

I am not a bank member and I'm from America, here in England studying abroad. I used my debit card at their ATM and the machine malfunctioned resulting in my card not being returned. When I called about it they were not helpful at all, and now it is going to be costly and timely to get a new card from the states.

After trying to get a settlement figure based on overpayments, it took 4 attempts and STILL completely inaccurate. Won't touch them with a barge pole in future

Applied for a loan for a new car and expected to hear back within 48 hours(their) claim. had to call them on several occasions to get a reply and eventually got a reply with a interest rate that bore no relationship to the advertised rate. Avoid as they are a waste of time.

Had a Sainsbury's Bank Bond which matured last year. Tried to get funds out this year and could not even with correct passwords user ids etc etc. Phoned and was asked some totally unrelated 'security' questions, e.g. When did I open my mobile phone account? and When did I open my current account?. Neither of these services were provided by Sainsburys so how come they had this information to check my answers? Eventually was asked to send photocopies of my driving licence and passport and they would contact me to advise how to proceed. Ok, I appreciate security is an important issue but this really is over the top. What is the point of setting up all the passwords, PINs, memorable places etc when you open the account if these are of no use when you want to access it. What a crummy bank. I won't be using them again.
