I picked up Digital Photo magazine at random being relatively new to digital cameras and was pleasantly surprised at how useful and interesting it was. Clearly written articles with good explanations on Photoshop techniques. I am thinking of subscribing.

I used to think people who wrote in to mags saying they can't wait for the next issue were rather sad, "am I now sad as well". Step by step tutorials, reviews, good explanation of tech subjects of camera workings, mag design & layout, a fair pricing of subscription for lots of content.

Digital Photo is not a bad magazine. As this is the first time I have seen it I do not know if the subject of calibration has been dealt with. Also, one needs to discuss profiles at the same time. It is not much use doing all the fancy manipulation etc., if the monitor profile does not match the printer profile.

The advice given in Digital Photo is technically excellent. This magazine annoys me however. They are artists more than photographers, using digital manipulation to create totally fake images.

I picked Digital Photo at random from a selection of digital photography magazines when I first got interested in image editing. I thought the price was a bit steep but on reflection, it's well worth the cost. There are good articles and reviews of equipment and software. Especially helpful are the tutorial videos on the accompanying DVD.
I'm very happy with this magazine and recommend subscription (and no, I don't have anything to do with the company that publishes it, I'm simply a grateful buyer)

What is one secret to being a great photographer and master manipulator of photos? If you purchase Digital Photo and go through each article and do each video you will notice a vast improvement in your photoshop skills as well as your shooting ability.
Here are some things I have learned in the past two years from Digital Photo magazine. I have learned how to add lightning to a picture. I have learned how to color correct photos, how to add fancy borders, how to master black and white photography, how to shoot at night. As you can see I have learned a lot and that is just some of what I have learned.
What is not discussed is basic design principals like asymmetrical balance, center of interest, camera megapixels compared to picture quality how much is enough?
Perhaps they will discuss this in the future. Also there is not much focus on wide format printing.
All things considered I highly recommend this magazine!

Hi Mat, I was amazed to see a face of a neolitic man in the reflections on page 73 of Mays Issue, by Cornelia Shultz (bottom right hand corner) or is this YOUR reflection. They say Alfred Hitchcock use to appear in all his own Movies ?????? All my Love !!!!!!
George Baker, Warrington. Great Mag. Look forward to June's Issue.

Digital Photo - I have tried various magazines to learn more about Digital Photography and nothing comes close to Digital Photo, I find it both informative and very inspirational, especially towards digital imaging, (although a lot can be learned about conventional photography). It utilizes the latest technology for teaching with the video tutorial CD, so you can watch and copy the tutorial all on 1 PC. Anyone remotely interested in Digital Imaging will be more than satisfied with it.

I agree entirely with this review. I have been a subscriber to the magazine for several months and look forward in keen anticipation to each new issue. The tutorial CDs are excellent and I file both the magazines and the CDs in a reference library of digital photography techniques.

I purchase this magazine every month. I find it very helpful and the video tutorials easy to follow, although they tend to come round fairly quickly in a different guise, but useful nevertheless. Very good value for £5 a month.
